good or bad idea, honestly I don't really care. I do like to see old movies get re-mastered, but sometime I do wish things played out a bit differently in their story telling ( sorry im not that good at explaining things ). Well overall, I think it just depends on people's tastes, well im not to judge

Love your art man, keep it up

I think it's nice, it's not the most original but I don't see it as a crap idea either. It's nice to see what those characters look like as real people (or what they could have looked like anyway).

On another note, some of the people in this comment section are acting rabid. Relax.

I'm not sure I'd call it a 'crap' idea per se, but I definately would like to see more originality out of hollywood these days, and this recycling of old ideas and 'tried-and-true' phenomena certainly isn't getting me to go to the theatres. When I see a movie, I want it to be something I've not seen before, not something I've seen a million times.

I am going to see Jurassic Park in 3D SO MANY TIMES because I would see Jurassic Park in 2D SO MANY TIMES if it came out again. I would also see it in smell-o-vision and in hologram.

holy jeez I'm really suprised what great number of these comments have a central focus on either money or antiquity! :O People...– wtf‽ – if you like 3D then naturally it's good; if it's too pricey then go to a dollar theatre (what I do for all the movies I see.) Also having a 3D version doesn't shadow the 2D version, not in theory nor in practice, so the older movie is not endangered at all.
Further more, creativity is, like all things, better when relished instead of demanded as if artists, like any other artists/technicians (amalgamating τέχνη + ars for you etymological folk,) have an obligation to please and produce! And it's not just the artists that most people think about; I'm willing to bet that there were a ton of computer science majors having fun with signal processing algorithms used to determine the necessary 3D geometries from the original 2D matrix of color that we commonly call a picture. Just as art is nice to look at, it can also be fun to create. So what if someone turns on their own lightbulb and you don't think it's bright enough?
Anyway, as long as the 3D isn't actually degrading the movie, it's always fun to watch a good movie again. I saw Star Wars I a few days ago and looked for the 3D effects – situations where they were most or least prominent; there was a lot of gray area between the two extremes. I enjoyed myself; I watched a fun movie again, with the subtle yet significant added 3D effects, and most notably the movie was on a huge screen in high definition.

tl;dr: tcmi3d aren't any worse than their corrosponding originals so chances are that they're better :)

I love the more classic movies. It's cool they're bringing them out again, but 3D is unecessary, overpriced, and overrated.

It's a waste of time trying to 3D-ify an old 2D movie. If the 3D isn't an integral part of the experience, there's not much point to it.

really what the fuck do they think they are doing??
those movies were never made to be seen in 3D, and like remaking the original starwars only corrupts its timeless greatness.

there are countless stories out there, why can't they get the fuck off the old ones!?
i guess i know the answer to the question, or at lest one bullshit explanation:
hollywood doesn't have the money to be experimenting with new ideas due to piracy and stuff, they have to invest in tried and true ideas from the past that they know will at least be somewhat of a solid financial investment. they say they haven't got the money to try risky new ideas. :(

which makes me sad because i went to college for writing, and i come up with fresh new ideas for fun.

Hate to say it, but this just sounds like a gimmick intended to get more money out of an old property. If a movie wasn't already good enough to stand out on its own, being 3D won't help, and if it was why bother making it 3D. It's like those endless "Special" editions DVDs Disney keeps cranking out.

Besides, I wanna see new stuff, not the same movie umpteen billion times.

Watched Star Wars Epsiode 1 in 3D - never gonna do something like this again. Basically because it's a big difference in 3D quality, if a movie was produced in actual 3D or converted to it. The 3D in Ep.1 are pretty limited and not half as good as for example in Avatar.

And additionally, classics are classics. But it doesn't help a shit sticking too much on old stuff, rather should people go for not stopping to produce new stuff.

I honestly think that it's a good idea to show classic movies in theaters. I wish it didn't have to be just in 3D but at least the generation below us can see what we saw back in the day. :)

Good Idea if the movie needs it but mostly a money ploy to get a few quick bucks for a re-release that just has more things jumping in your face. :|

IF it was an epic moive from before yes, crappy or average movie, No.

From a business standpoint? Great idea.
From an artistic standpoint? No, stop. Don't do that.

I went to see beauty and the beast because I wanted to see what 3d 2d animation would look like and also disney, but it's super unlikely that i'll go see anymore.

On one hand it's a way to live through a movie you loved in your past
on the other hand it's just another way the movie makers make money

Rarely am I ok with 3D re-releases. If it's a movie where 3d effects would be fitting, then cool, but if it's a movie like Titanic... :iconwthplz:
