This was the final concept piece that I produced for my freelance. I found it quite agreeable to make a transport drone that felt inscectoid-like and non human. These drones would be taking resources produced by other machines and carrying them back and forth towards specific destinations. Imagine them a lot like a hive mind. ;) Spotters are higher altitude drones that can scout and secure safety for the transporters along with other machines that need assisting.
This concept was produced for my client and the content I am showing is strictly reserved for their usage only.

Does it really fly?

Well... Based on another commentator giving a wonderful example on the possibilities of this thing working.. I'm guessing it can! :D;; hahah As shown from above it could have a magnetohydrodynamic drive, where the air is ionized and high-powered magnets force the air through to produce some form of thrust.. I JUST THOUGHT OF THE DYSON FANS IN ALL HONESTY THOUGH. Zedd- Shrug emote

someone said "magnetohydrodynamic", therefore I must reply with this www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/image…
(nice concept btw)

Sun's Stare of Doom YEP... NOPE I CAN TOTALLY RELATE TO THAT COMIC.. That's exactly how I felt when it was explained to me in the comment section.. O_O But.. The more you know! Much is taught when you have wise audience members! Thanks!

Thank you kindly Chiby! I'm happy you enjoyed the theme I was going for. I really wanted strong pointy edges and dominant forms. :P

Where can I buy one of them? :eager:  I'm sure they violate tons of FAA rules or something, but I don't care XD

Honestly though, I think 3d printing this things might be pretty awesome.  Awesome work :D

Hahahha! I haven't read up myself on what the FAA actually has for rule sets.. I'm sure one of them is that it can't have weaponry. XD;; But I mean these guys just pick up supplies! >_> So I mean it can't be that bad! Oooo! I would love to be able to print these guys! they would be pretty easy to print too I think! LoveThanks again!

I recall Amazon was having some issues using drones to deliver goods, which is why I mentioned it XD

Someday I'll buy a 3D printer and try modeling stuff again, I think something like this would be super cool to get back into! For now, I'll be happy enjoying awesome concepts and things other people make XD

I seriously think we aren't ready for the mass hive mind drones delivering our goods yet. xD I can imagine them now... Flying into buildings of glass and shattering things, going into people. Children.. XD Apparently also there's a way to attract a amazon drone by screaming at it so couldn't people just steal your shit? hahaha

Daw thanks for that! I also really want a 3D printer to strengthen up my trade and to print out my own concepts for sale. But hell I can't even afford a printer. I gotta first find a new place to live! happy cry XD

To be fair, human package delivery isn't always that great. I still think a drone dropping a package generally wouldn't be better than someone just throwing a package in front of your door, so prepare for shipping costs to go up for added cardboard and bubble wrap whenever that happens.  At least the added bubble wrap could make for more amusement :D

Still, had I the option, I'd prefer a drone stick something in my backyard, which is surrounded by a 12-foot tall fence that you can't see through --- especially if the item was more than like $50.  It at least offers slightly more security, even if it's still fairly minimal.

If you do start printing 3d models of things, I'd love to see the results :D   I don't know if I can offer much help on the house front tho, but I do wish you luck in your searching!  My sister just started a new job and is looking for housing too, and can't find anything that doesn't seem absurdly expensive. I can totally understand how annoying the process can be, and am glad I don't have to deal with it for quite a while to come...

hahahah god they'll have to make some really good bubble wrap now! O_O The only issue with the drop package thing is that drones in cities will have to somehow like.. Drop these packages somewhere where there is a balcony, but not every person gets a balcony. Also so many drones will be doing into each other and falling on people i swear. So many cities are so damn narrow. Maybe urban drone usage would be fine. :P

You would be surprised however at the exploitation humans would cook up with that. xD People are assholes. They'll probably try and shoot pellet guns at drones for fun, even if it isn't to steal your shit. Drones should come with cameras and little fling snares to fuck with people if they try anything >>... well maybe not the snares but you know what i mean. xD Will do! It'll be exciting times if I ever finally fine a place I can settle into for a bit. :P I've been traveling too much to locate a place without hemorrhaging out money. But I feel the pain your sister is going through.. I feel like shelter almost everywhere is becoming more than 50% of our income expense. :(

Hahaha, now I'm thinking of branding a new executive toy called Premium Bubble Wrap, that guarantees all bubbles pop in a satisfying way or your money back!

Drone delivery would depends on the size of the package you need delivered.  Drones offer convenience as long as there's a base station reasonably close by (for charging, tracking, harder to steal), but restrictions on delivery (i.e. required to be delivered to a physical front door or office, not skyscrapers or apartment complexes) certainly seem reasonable.  Anything more than that -- that a normal person on the street could see or have access to -- would be potentially an invasion of privacy, not to mention far harder to code up and account for all the edge cases.

Oh, I'm sure people would have fun shooting at them, throwing stones, or trying to hack them. Or even birds and hawks trying to take them down, which I hear is actually a thing some governments do (i.e. the Dutch?).  Until the AI autonomy can become reliable, safe, and not Skynet or used to fuel creepy amounts of data collection, I don't want to see drones delivering things irl, even if it'd be a cool technological concept to use in fantasy worlds.

Housing prices are absurd, and renting an apartment is just abominable.  It doesn't offer a return on your investment, AND they decide to honor your tenure by raising costs!  It's really insane, and feels like it should be illegal!  ...that's kinda the reason why I decided to bite the bullet and buy a house, which happens to be cheaper than the last apartment I was renting per month :ninja:

Are the rings supposed to be an atmospheric version of a magnetohydrodynamic drive, where the air is ionized and high-powered magnets force the air through to produce thrust? Very imaginative concept!

blank tae You know! I just imagined it as a bit of like a strengthened version of a dyson fan. But that sounds ten times cooler! hahah! I didn't know we even had technology yet that could power magnets to force uplift. I think it would be fascinating if it was powered via two magnetic pulls that rotated around the circles at high speeds to propel the drone up with air force. Thanks for the ideas none the less! It gives me more flexibility into weird concepts for flight. xD

On the other hand, your Dyson idea might be more along the lines of "actually doable". There was an experimental watercraft in Japan that used the MHD principle, but it only could make a few knots. Given that, I have some doubts about an MAD drive having enough power to propel an aircraft with the same effectiveness as a purely aerodynamic powerplant. But it DOES look cooler than a helicopter or V-22 Osprey!
