It was a sunny day in the year of 1889, on April 4th, as engines on the Mid-Sodor Railway were coming and going while hauling freight and passenger trains, but the workload was increasing rapidly as engines were having difficult times, trying to keep up with the work effort. Duke was one of the engines, that outlasted all of the other engines that worked on the line was also experiencing the strain as well. Duke was just finishing up his goods work as he stopped right next to the station, blowing his whistle as his wheels squeaked, as he came to a complete stop.
