Roger Baugh (GBOT)

In the IDW Ghostbusters series, we're introduced to a new character, Roger Baugh, who's a literature professor and new boyfriend of Ghostbusters secretary Janine Melnitz.  The kicker is, of course, that he also is a dead ringer for the Extreme Ghostbusters character design of Janine's usual love interest, Ghostbuster Egon Spengler.  At the end of the series, he packs up and leaves to take a job in San Francisco.  I hope Egon doesn't let this opportunity go to waste--we did see him realize he was really jealous of Roger back in Vol.1 #14.  His last name is either a reference to former Washington NFL team quarterback Sammy Baugh, or an in-joke to a certain loudmouth Ghostbusters fan who's known in some circles for his strong support of the Egon/Janine pairing.

So how could I not try to come up with a way to use this guy?

Certainly, his as-written role is out--Egon and Janine have been happily married since 1998 and they're staying that way.  But I do have a team of fan fic Ghostbusters, the Ghostbusters West Coast, and it was easy to turn the in-joke on it's head by having him be the uncle of "Dr. Fritz V. Baugh", my GBWC character.

Roger's still a literature professor in San Francisco, but I did have to redesign him a little bit.  Since Ectozone Egon's character design is based off RGB Egon, I made Ectozone Roger look more like Harold Ramis, with some design cues from the fictional Fritz (who doesn't look much like the real life me at all) but kept the EGB Egon buzzcut with pony tail.

I also introduced his wife, a woman with short red hair.  Her name's Claire Burnham, just to repay the reference.
