The recent changes for thumbsnails do affect the gallery CSS. Atm it seems like the color of the text links below deviations can't be changed (at least i haven't figured out how). Also the border images you get when a deviation is too wide or tall won't match your background as it has the default green/grey in it. Not sure if can be adjusted, haven't played around with it yet.
It's not the fault of dA, sorry for spreading wrong information.
This issue is caused by the deviantTHUMBS:HUGE v7 user style by rotane fav.me/d5cghor . If you have it installed it will affect the link color in galleries. That's why your gallery skin might look different to what they should look like.
