Character design by @IndiDreamer

Name: Cress

Current Age: 2 years

Starting Age: 2 years

Gender: Male

Pronouns: he/him

Faction: Goldenwind

Rank: Blazer

Task: n/a (aspiring Sunforger or Moondweller)

Height: 33 inches

Weight: 101 lbs

Build: Cress holds a tall, lithe build, having long spindly legs. His medium-length fur hides some of his lankiness, making him appear larger than he actually is. He carries himself with light steps and grace due to his lighter weight. His fur is generally fluffier around his neck, cheeks, haunches and tail, and he has a patch of longer fur on his chin making it look like he has a beard. He has a nick in his right ear that he got during his travels as a dispersal before finding Goldenwind.

Family: Wren [father, NPC]

Spruce [mother, NPC]

Shrike [sister, NPC]

Reed [sister, NPC, deceased]

Personality:

Positive traits: Loyal, Dedicated, Optimistic

Negative traits: Aloof, Cold, Snarky

Word count: 309

Cress is somewhat of the embodiment of a trickling stream - going along with life without much care for how things go. He is easily annoyed and quite snarky and can appear distant and cold. He doesn’t make friends all too well as he would prefer to be left to his own devices and will make his annoyance with someone clear and blunt - if he doesn’t like you, you would know in a heartbeat. He is also horrendously blunt with telling the truth, stating something matter of factly with little regard for how one may react, having been taught in his youth that lying is bad. His coldness mostly comes with his tone of voice and his expression, often speaking with a blank tone and holding a characteristic death glare that can make him come off as intimidating and unfriendly, which is fine by him as he does not particularly like crowds and would prefer not to spend time with others. Beneath the tough exterior is a genuinely nice wolf, its just rare to see that side. His good side mostly appears through how he goes about life - he upholds loyalty to a fault towards whomever may have authority over him, though he isn’t stupid and won’t follow a tyrannical leader blindly. He is also a dedicated, hard worker and is always willing to prove himself to others and himself, enjoying watching as he improves over time. He is also an optimist, which is an absolute opposite mindset one would expect from someone as aloof as he is. He looks towards the future brightly and is very rarely pessimistic, though he’s not optimistic to an unrealistic degree and can infer when a certain positive outcome to something is unrealistic. Cress strives to be a productive packmate and wants to be respected even through his rather cold exterior.

History: word count: 440

TW: backstory contains implied death. Reader discretion advised.

Cress was born to a small loner pack that was just his parents and his two sisters. From early life, Cress’s sisters, Shrike and Reed, were always adventurous and always getting into trouble much to the dismay of their parents. Cress, however, preferred to stick close to home and only got in trouble if he was forcibly dragged into his sisters’ chaotic antics, but most of the time he declined to be involved. Cress did love his sisters and it wasn’t like he completely ignored them, he just wanted nothing to do with their adventures for the most part.

Ultimately, his sisters’ adventures would spell danger for them eventually. Cress was laying at the densite when his father, Wren, came into camp with only Shrike by his side, with Shrike in hysterics and Wren holding a sullen expression on his face. Cress found out later that while sneaking out and exploring, Shrike had lost sight of Reed, and got so hopelessly lost trying to find her that she ended up stumbling upon Wren and the pups mother, Spruce, by pure chance while they were hunting. The two called off the hunt and Wren took Shrike home while Spruce searched for Reed. Reed was never found.

Shrike was deeply troubled about Reed’s disappearance for a long time. Cress, despite not being all that close to his sisters, felt empty now that Reed was gone and that Shrike was no longer as lively as she used to be. He showed openness and care for the first time and he did his best to help Shrike through her grief as the two siblings grew up. During this time, they both grew closer and almost inseparable.

As ensembles went by, Cress yearned to explore the world once he was old enough, finally feeling that itch to explore that he never had as a young Valleyfolk. Eventually, when he was about a year and a half old, he told his family he wanted to disperse, and after saying his goodbyes, he set out on his own as Shrike was more inclined to stay home for a little longer.

Cress walked alone for a long time, enjoying his life as a dispersal. He thought he would remain in the dispersal life forever, but eventually he stumbled upon Goldenwind when he wandered into the desert. Delirious, thirsty and weak from the heat, Cress was welcomed into the pack as a guest - a Blazer.

From here, Cress now feels interested in becoming a full member of Goldenwind, finding the desert nights to be pleasant, but he would have to prove himself to the Valleyfolk of Goldenwind first.
