[TOW] Night of the Shrieking Twins

Elio was snoozing as the world began to darken. It was Khefogr Fest today, and he had taken part in the main festivities near the den site. He had almost forgotten it was a thing, as he had only rejoined Tephe a few days ago. But he was quickly notified of the fest by Twyla who shook him awake that morning in excitement. The last time Elio was around for a Khefogr fest he was merely two months old and barely understood the holiday, having it explained to him by his mother. Elio didn't think much more on it, he was a bit sleepy currently so he began to doze off.

However, not long into his nap he was jolted awake by two things: A distant shriek and then a hard nudge. Elio flinched awake, and noticed Twyla hovering over him with the goofiest grin she could muster.

"Hey, Goober." Elio giggled, nudging his sister. "You didn't have to scream at me ya know. The nudge was enough."

"Och, you're tired! That wasn't me!" Twyla giggled. "Tephens are starting to go into Somerglen to shriek and keep the Faer and Specters confined, that was someone else."

"...So you're saying you want me to go into Somerglen? isn't that like, dangerous or something?" Elio said, "Mom and dad never allowed us to go in there."

"Mom and dad can't tell us what to do anymore, we're adults, you dork." Twyla giggled, "Besides, remember when we were pups and we heard shrieking and mom reassured us that it was just our packmates? This is kind of Khefogr Fest's thing. We were really young at the time so its not surprising you barely remember."

"Oh yeah..." Elio said.

"I want you to come with me to shriek at the Faer!" Twyla said excitedly, "It'll be fun! Please?"

Elio smiled gently. It was so refreshing to see Twyla have some confidence, she had changed a lot since the last time he was a Tephen. "I'll come with you. Just let me stretch first, ay?"

Twyla giggled. Elio got up and stretched as much as he could, then when he was done, Twyla took off immediately. Elio chased after her.

It wasn't long before the twins arrived at the edge of Somerglen. Twyla nudged Elio forward.

"You first, Mister Adventurous" Twyla said, "Don't get your ear caught in a badger's jaws again."

"Oh shut up!" Elio said with a chortle, shoving Twyla playfully. Twyla giggled. Elio inhaled, then let out a loud shriek and charged into the woods. Twyla followed, shrieking equally as loud.

Together, they ran through the dimming woods shrieking at the top of their lungs, and they only stopped once their voices began to get sore from doing it. After their run through Somerglen, they returned to the rest of the pack to rest under the stars.

Prompt: Thrills and Chills

One of the first things Elio and Twyla do upon Elio rejoining the pack is run through Somerglen shrieking to keep the Faer and Specters confined to the woods for the next year. This is Elio's first time participating because the first Khefogr fest he was alive for he was very young, and then the second one he was alive for he was not part of the pack. Twyla is very happy to be participating in Khefogr Fest with her brother this year!
