[TOW] Animosity

After yet another sparring lesson where Koa promptly got their ass handed to them, they decided to sulk back to their family den - they HATED being there but it wasn't like they had any other choice. Their father, and by extension mother, wouldn't let them go anywhere else until they ranked up to Cadres - the same condition Ozias and Cade got... but Cadres rank was far out of the question for how lousy of a Voliel Koa was. They wanted to change ranks... but the last time they brought that up to their parents, their father blew up at them.

As they approached the family den, Koa heard hushed voices. Sneakily, they peeked inside to listen. They could not see who was talking, but they knew the voices as their parents. They were talking about them. Of course they were. Koa stood there to eavesdrop, to see what kinds of grievances they had about them this time.

As Koa listened to more and more talk, their nose wrinkled more. Of course their parents were gonna make them participate in Inja's tournament this year (with their father worried it's canceled forever because of a "little accident" - that specific quip made Koa's blood boil), and of course they want to send them to the weird new settlement that popped up recently to "gather intel."

After listening to more petty complaints about them, Koa moved away. They were frankly tired of all this complaints from their family. Koa wished they would see how much of a disappointment they were to them and disown them already. That way they would be free.

For now they silently walked off to pretend they were never at the den entrance listening, though not like their parents were hiding anything. They were never afraid of talking smack about them to their face after all.

Prompt: What a Disappointment

Admittedly i've been wanting to show Koa's dynamic with their parents for... a while but my motivation for Koa died. Now i have muse for Koa soooo time to catch up ig? xD this takes place like right before they go to the retreat. Here's a snippet of Koa dealing with their nasty parents... i dont like their parents they're mean.

Don't ask me what's going on with the shading... i have no idea. I just decided to go crazy and experiment. Doesn't look the best but whatever lol. i do like how the rocks look actually rocky tho.
