On an extremely exciting note I have purchased a true macro lens. I have just been working with the limited macro ability of my 17-85mm with and without close-up filters. I really enjoy macro-photography and think that with the purchase of a true macro lens my love for the style will only grow.
The lens I bought is a Sigma 150mm 1:1 f2.8 macro lens. It is my first third-party lens. I am hoping that I am not disappointed but from what everyone tells me, the Sigma lenses
