It's good to be back on DeviantArt. I love your work. I watched you. Can you please watch me as well? Thanks.
Your art style is astonishing, Ash. You're obscenely skilled. ![]()
... We need to poach you for the games industry, if you're not there already. I see you draw fan-art - would it not be a natural progression to actually design the characters and settings, that video games are based on?
I mean, you're far more talented than I - if a wizened old gimmer like me can make it in the industry, you certainly can. It's a crazy-daunting prospect, I know, but it's never been easier to start - even if you didn't write your own games (which you can totally do - I have faith!), there's always the option of working with a team. There's so much help and resources out there for people who love games, but want to do more than just play.
Hehe, I get a little zealous when I'm talking shop. It's just great to meet adept folk who would do well in the interactive entertainment field, you know? Anyway, outstanding portfolio - I hope you'll join us at some point! ![]()
(Of course, if you're already part of it, apologies for wasting your time!)
Thank you very much! ;w;
Unfortunately I'm not a part of the gaming industry at all, I just play them, though I did get some training in the art department of game design back in college. I think it'd be fun to make a game, have been recently considering trying my hands at it, though i'm unsure if it's the avenue for me. I wouldn't be opposed to trying out a game jam or something of the sort at some point though :>
No worries! I think it's totally worth giving it a shot. It might well be the start of a love affair - but if you don't enjoy it, at the very least, it'll be something juicy to put on your resume, right? Even if you don't jump right into a programming language, and instead go for something like RPG Maker, it's all horizon-broadening stuff.
... I think your idea about participating in a game jam is totally the way forward. It's always interesting to work outside of your comfort zone - I'm sure you get to do that a lot with commission work, but this would be a completely random brief, that you might not have encountered before. You'd be surprised at how many people out there have the technical skills to write a game, but are putting it off because they can't draw very well - so if you team up with some other folk, it's possible for you to get started in the industry, without having to learn any new tech.
If I can be of any help to you in getting involved, you have only to ask. I can only really offer my own experience of the industry, but sometimes that's enough of a push to begin the journey. ![]()
Thanks a lot for the watch!![]()
