Morning Coffee

WOOOT! Another speedpainting print I did for Bronycon! I'm almost finished with the Mane 6; now all that's left is Rainbow Dash and the set will be complete! ^.^

Okay, so obviously this one is of our one and only Rarity Belle. This lovely lady took me a bit to figure out what I wanted her to be doing, but when I got a Frappe at Starbucks it kinda came to me outta nowhere, and here she is. Taking in the sunrise as she quietly enjoys her morning coffee.

So once again simplicity was the goal here, and as such much of what COULD have been detailed remains pretty simple, specifically the BG. I spent most of my time on Rarity herself though, because I want the character to be the one that stands out the most. For Rarity, I decided not to go with her usual canon look and, since she probably only recently woke up to go to the cafe, had her throw her mane in a bun/ponytail thing and forgo her usual blue eyeshadow. I like to think that Rarity puts makeup on simply because she likes to, and not because she's self-conscious about her looks. She knows she looks good, so why not enhance that a smidge of makeup? That said, even those who like make-up probably like having a day or two where they take a break from it all. C:

I really enjoyed making this image; again, the medium is watercolors on Bristol Vellum and it took me about 3 hours to finish this, lineart included.
