My Kirby Game Tier List (updated)

so i decided to replay some of these games and finally played kirby planet robobot. so i updated my tier list and decided to explain a better explanation of these games.

- there's a reason i always put this game off of the list, and that's because this game is the rival game of Kirby 64 crystal shard. kinda like how each kirby game (except kirby air ride) has a rival game. as we all know, the 90's kirby fans say that crystal shard is the best, while the modern kirby fans say return the dream land is the best. a battle of which a lot of fans have to agree is hard to handle. and since im the 90's fan, i always put the game off. but since I played the other rival games, i decided to at least placed this on the list and maybe give the game a try once i get it.

team kirby clash deluxe

what i like: I like how every time you defeat a boss, you unlock a background character, and that you can change costume. i enjoy watching sailor waddle dee having fun chasing a butterfly. as well as dressing kirby as drawcia, dark matter and taranza.

what i dislike: the only downside i have with this game is that they repeat the same boss, as well as bringing that one in particular that's annoying.

what i would change: change some of the repeated bosses for more classic bosses.

what i like: meanwhile, this version is better. as it has two new hub worlds, new background characters, and at least the bosses are given different elements. i'm happy king d mind and parallel susie were added.

what i dislike: just wish that some of the game's bosses could've been replaced by more recognized bosses instead.

what i would change: same reason as team kirby clash deluxe and that sailor waddle dee was chatting with parasol waddle dee instead.

what i like: always liked how challenging this game was.

what i dislike: always had a bad outcome with this game, specially when the game didn't saved properly and i didn't had a chance to play meta nightmare. either because of battery issue or because i had too much homework at the time.

what i would change: nothing.

kirby's epic yarn.

what i like: i do enjoy the main story, the transformation, how evil yin-yarn is and the music. 

what i dislike: i dislike the side quests, mostly cause they repeat the same stages as the main one, i still think they could've done better. 

what i would change: change the side quests for better ones and make prince fluff your ally, even when there's no second player.

i like

kirby & the amazing mirror.

what i like: i like this game a lot, the adventure, the collectible, the abilities and the 3 allies. as well as the super smash bros reference by the guest appearance of master hand and crazy hand. as well as my favorite one-off male boss character (wiz).

what i dislike: the only downside is that dark mind wasn't much of a challenge, which doesn't feel much of a triumph when we defeat him.

what i would change: make the magic ability more unique and make dark mind be more challenging.

kirby squeak squad.

what i like: i like this game and how it forces you to use several elements for each puzzles. i also enjoyed that magic has it's own move set in this game and that this game introduced my favorite character, daroach. 

what i dislike: like the amazing mirror, dark nebula was the only downside of this game due to it only having one phase, now i'm sure some of you would say that 02 also has one phase, but at least 02 was more challenging than dark nebula. and no, i don't think that kirby going to attack king dedede was dumb, remember that king dedede has stolen food before and that he was the likely suspect. 

what i would change: make the magic ability not have the wheel attack, make wiz have like a cameo as the one who change kirby's colors and give dark nebula have 3 phases instead.

favorite with a bit of a problem.   

kirby battle royale.

what i like: i like that I get to play as sailor waddle dee, get to ride blaze wheelie & the ore minigame. this is practically why i placed it on this than anything lower.

what i dislike: i feel like the story should've been completely different. the intro and the final boss were the only good thing about it. i feel like the whole game should've been more about kirby battling his way to try and compete to get to the finals. make it more of a battle royale than a mario party game. 

what i would change: make the story different, also change bandana waddle dee for sailor waddle dee. makes more sense since bandana is loyal to king dedede, while sailor waddle dee is the only one not loyal to him, and since he work for meta knight, it would've made sense why he joined kirby to beat king dedede. also, add soldier waddle dee (as spear and with bandanna waddle dee alternate costume), axe knight & the dummy as playable characters. since they were hinted that were planned to be playable. as well as the color red, brown, black (shadow kirby) and purple.

kirby canvas curse.

what i like: i like how experimental this game is, as well as for being the game that introduced my favorite female villain, drawcia. i also enjoy that this game has an old school theme mode, which are songs from nightmare in dreamland.

what i dislike: the bosses being minigames, it really bothered me. as well as that there was a cut boss and characters. same goes for the coins.

what i would change: the intro and ending, i feel like they should've been footage than just murals. also that the coins should've been used for unlocking illustrations of kirby with the magical paintbrush on their adventure. and that the minigames are optional and that kirby has to fight actual bosses. and that if you defeat them the second time after finishing the story, you unlock a character. except the final, which is unlock after beating the story with all 9 other characters.

8. drawcia - drawcia ball (unlocked after beating the game with everyone else, she's invincible)

kirby triple deluxe.

what i like: the story is ok, surprised that kirby cares enough to rescue king dedede. the environment is outstanding and queen sectonia was a great villain. i also enjoyed that they introduced Paintra, allowing there to be more information about the mysteries of drawcia. this game also introduced my favorite neutral character, taranza.

what i dislike: i feel like this game should've included more cutscene showing how amazed kirby felt when he saw each of the floating islands and taranza struggling with king dedede. without those cutscene, the game felt a bit empty. 

what i would change: just add more cutscene & add kirby 64 crystal shard keychains.

kirby planet robobot.

what i like: the story is great, feels more like this game was made to allow meta knight to be included in the games he was excluded in the past due to all of the reference. such as kirby adventure 2, kirby adventure 3, kirby 64 crystal shard & kirby tripple deluxe. i also like that the smash ability came back in this game, a long with mirror. also the environment in this game is amazing, I enjoyed watching the waddle dees driving in the city and that i got to board a train. my favorite robobot mode was parasol and my two main stickers are Sailor waddle dee and drawcia, if i had a third option, it would've been Adeleine. i also liked the battle against star dream, being a similar battle that kirby had with 02.

what i dislike: I dislike that the UFO ability can’t be unlocked after beating the game 100% or by Kirby amiibo. I dislike that blocky is a mid bosses in this game again, instead of adding a new one. And I dislike that holo defense api just throws old bosses, rather than just behaving like the character it was designed after… pix.

what i would change: not much, maybe add a third sticker for the back of the robobot. Make holo defense api fight similar to pix but with 3 phases and replace blocky for a new mid boss. Also that dubior grants you the ufo ability than spark.

what i like: i like that this game is 8 game stories in one, allowing one to have an endless time of fun playing each different story. i also like that rather than using sprites footage, they went with 3d model footage, making the cutscenes better. 

what i dislike: not much to be honest.

what i would change: not much.

kirby star allies 

what i like: i like that this game brought the helpers mechanic from kirby super star and that now you can have 3 helpers, as well as that Vividria is introduced, allowing there to be another connection to drawcia's mysterious past. i also like that past friends are now dream friends and that the battle of void termina is the best battle one could ever fight in a kirby game, since it mixed all previous boss battle in the past.

what i dislike: i dislike that the story is short, that non-traditional canon kirby game representatives were cut and that you have to fight the mage sisters twice.

what i would change: add 12 more dream friends that represent the non-traditional canon kirby games. (red/green/yellow kirby, brobo, mr. star, gryll, the orbservors, the meta-knights, the dragoon/hydra, drawcia, prince fluff, necrodeus, elline with claycia & sailor waddle dee) include the halberd as a map, as well as adding dynablade & heavy lobster as bosses. and include 8 other helpers and ability; wheelie bike (wheel), u.f.o. (ufo), capsule j1/j2/j3 (jet), simirror (mirror), gaw-gaw (animal), paintra (circus), wiz (magic) & master hand (smash).

kirby 64 crystal shard. 

what i like: i mostly enjoyed how this game was very linear and unique, like how all of it's stages has their own background and doesn't repeat them. not to mention that this was the very first 3d model kirby game and the first time kirby has to battle the final boss in a 3d shooting style. i also enjoyed how funny and entertaining the cutscenes were in this game. Adeleine and Ribbon are my favorite female friends in the kirby series.

what i dislike: only problem i have is that crystal shard waddle dee, adeleine and king dedede were cut from being fully playable character.

what i would change: make Adeleine and crystal shard waddle dee as optional playable character. and that when playing as them, that kirby would take their place.

that's my kirby tier list. despite some of them being placed higher than the other, i enjoy playing them, despite me wanting to change each of them.

we just have to wait and see which would be the next kirby game.
