Here's a picture showing how I done the skin-tight shield FX for "The Bassen Rift".
I first have done my "normal render" then used a duplicated (and simpler) version of my E model that I entirely textured with only my shield texture to have a full black ship that will disappear when I will use the "screen" blending mode on After Effects.
A simple but very efficient process !LLAP
