Recently I've noticed a lot of history-adjacent channels ripping on Call of Duty: Vanguard, mostly the campaign. And I understand, there's a lot of... interesting narrative and design choices made in it. I personally enjoyed it, but I'm not going to call it accurate - I went into it expecting something along the lines of Where Eagles Dare and I wasn't disappointed, but I think a lot of people wanted something a lot more on the lines of Saving Private Ryan (or indeed, 2016's COD: WWII and it's surprisingly good campaign.) But one criticism I don't really get is that it's quote-unquote 'woke' distortion of history. The only real 'distortion' I could find, and it's likely just a mistake, is putting the all-black 93rd Infantry Division on Bougainville six months early. Everything else - black soldiers in the British Army and female snipers in the Red Army - is historically documented as having happened (and in the latter case, wasn't unusual in the slightest.)
