I just graduated, and last year it was just...okay it has been happening to me for the past two years. I know I am drawing for myself, but I still get discouraged with others look away from my art, even cover their kids' eyes or grab their wrists and tug them in another direction saying things like "don't look at her artwork!" I You'd think it'd be a fluke if it was once or twice, but if it happens for more than a year with multiple cons, I don't think my artwork really fits anime cons anymore. Last year I earned just enough to pay back for my living and ticket costs, and maybe about 40 bucks in my pocket to get back home. If I don't earn enough back anymore at conventions, I have to choose wisely and not waste money and time at all the anime cons anymore
But on the other hand, the non-otaku crowd is starting to come at me with actual illustration work...slowly...
But e1n, you're one of the cooler people behind artist alley. If I could go to Fanime, you're probably one of the few people I'd be looking forward to go say hi to. On the contrary, I will be going to the BIG WOW comicfest [link]
to meet my employer. I don't know if you're going, since it's this week though.
