The Trading Post
08.12.18. Now that the Trading Post has been operating for exactly a month, we'll be making some changes in response to some problems that have arisen since it's introductions. Comments can no longer be edited after a certain amount of time, so we ask that you post ONE strudel per comment, so that you can hide the comments after it has been traded off. Posting multiple in the same comment causes confusion if you cannot hide just one strudel in particular. ALSO if your strudel is not on the masterlist, please post to the Can't find your strudel? entry on the StrudelCupboard (https://www.deviantart.com/strudelcupboard) to help us find any missing babies! We're super quick about updating!

Very sorry I wasn't able to respond quickly to the last batch, ATs are open for a short while but I will be moving soon so it might be subject to some delay, for the same reason I might also not be able to do too many trades qq ATs are accepted based on  -How I like your art style (not necessarily skill related)  -How I feel able to draw your character  -Character designs and how they might inspire me  -Will do anything for good friends This following section is important! i really really really want to see more ppl experimenting with their art, esp in the wings of fire fandom (i love u all but please. Please. stop copying realtense) so this is what i'm going to do to encourage that. what is the challenge? draw something out of your comfort zone! if you usually draw w lines, try lineless. if you usually use muted colors, try bright ones. if you usually draw standing poses, do an action pose. throw some cubism in there. go buckwild. genuinely just stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone and what is... well, 'fandom popular'; the ability to diversify your style is a strength, not a hindrance. what are the re

I'll be at Fanime this year!  Table location is T95.

Stop by and say hi.  I don't really have any new prints for this year, but I'll be taking commissions if anyone is interested.

Holy balls you got a good spot. I'm down at 209/210. They always always always throw me in the back. Idk whats up with my timing that makes me always end up in the farther half of tables. Argh. :(
I'm usually swamped myself so I never get a chance to look around AA until sunday. Do save me one of the gender bend prints, I kind of need it. D:<

Indeed I will, and I'm even hoping to commission, though what, I'm not yet sure. :iconunsureplz:

(I'll either be cosplaying as Shura from Ao no Exorcist, or (fem)Tiger from Tiger & Bunny)

Cool, see you there. Are you staying for the whole weekend or select days? My expenses are on tight parental watch, but I'll see if I can squeeze in some. I have a few commission ideas, but I won't overload you.

i should be there the whole weekend. and no worries, i won't be overloaded on commissions xD but i may stop taking commissions as early as sunday afternoon, just to make sure i can finish all i took.
tiffyw92's avatar
Alright, I've planned for the whole weekend anyway.

If you're taking commissions now, I've lately had a battle between Luffy and Kirby over a watermelon stuck in mind. If you like, make it look as epic as possible, but for anything else, surprise me. Thanks!

mm, note me about this so we can discuss price?
tiffyw92's avatar
I'll stop by on Friday with a purple Chopper hat so we can discuss in detail. The print doesn't have to be poster-sized; just a letter-sized or so. How much do you usually sell for that size?
e1n's avatar
e1nProfessional Filmographer
letter sized i normally sell for $5, but that's for print copies that are sold to everyone. at this point there's no way i can make something like that and turn it into a print in time for fanime.

commissions, you get the original drawing and i don't turn that into a print (meaning copies of it don't get sold to anyone), so you're looking at about $30 for an inked sketch and $45 if you want it colored.
tiffyw92's avatar
That's a bit more expensive than expected for a single sketch. If I can muster up the cash for it, I'd prefer in color, but no guarantees. It's still a pretty good chance I'll stop by, though. Thanks again.

I just graduated, and last year it was just...okay it has been happening to me for the past two years. I know I am drawing for myself, but I still get discouraged with others look away from my art, even cover their kids' eyes or grab their wrists and tug them in another direction saying things like "don't look at her artwork!" I You'd think it'd be a fluke if it was once or twice, but if it happens for more than a year with multiple cons, I don't think my artwork really fits anime cons anymore. Last year I earned just enough to pay back for my living and ticket costs, and maybe about 40 bucks in my pocket to get back home. If I don't earn enough back anymore at conventions, I have to choose wisely and not waste money and time at all the anime cons anymore :( But on the other hand, the non-otaku crowd is starting to come at me with actual illustration work...slowly...

But e1n, you're one of the cooler people behind artist alley. If I could go to Fanime, you're probably one of the few people I'd be looking forward to go say hi to. On the contrary, I will be going to the BIG WOW comicfest [link] to meet my employer. I don't know if you're going, since it's this week though.

ah yeah, when you're selling your stuff to public like that you gotta cater to what sells. if you're not breaking even, there's no point going to fanime then. though, perhaps other cons would work better for you? i feel it's the same with any industry, really, if you want to do well, you gotta do what people want you to do, it's like working for a studio, no matter what you think, if your art director wants you to change it, you gotta change it. part of this industry is satisfying people.

I'm really happy you understand, and you're like the only person who either has been in my shoes or gets what the hell I'm talking about. I'm not going to Fanime this year, but possibly next.

I would highly recommend you check out 'Image Expo' though--this year was their first, and yet it was the most respectable convention I've ever gone to--for con-goers, artists, AND merchandisers. It's a little something for everyone.

Also, I was really surprised about the Spiderman thing you did; I had no idea! Well, one day, you might be surprised at what I've been doing too ;)

e1nProfessional Filmographer
one day if i have enough free time to just wander up north to go to a con, i will check it out xD seems rather unlikely, though.

what is it that you've been doing? surprise me.
