Firstly, apologies for sometimes being rather late in replying to your wonderful comments. I think I'm mostly caught up (for now, and am working on catching up on other sites). I love you all! :blowkiss:

Here's my Facebook page where you can subscribe to see updates on my nekkid doings in London, travels, and other fun stuff:

On my journal tab is a new poll. I think I'll be doing these more frequently; likely most will be for shits and giggles.

  • Watching: So You Think You Can Dance
  • Playing: the Kingdom of Loathing

On account of being awake for approximately 28 hours straight, I'm not sure I can adequately express my appreciation to you, those who take time out of your surely busy days to look at my attempts to create something that might just move you in some way or another.

Thank you, so very much.

Finally found my limit

Thu Jul 17, 2008, 10:38 AM
a.k.a. The swamp ate my sandal.

Yesterday, Dave said he would throw me in a swamp today. Roberta (his lovely wife) and I both thought he meant the pretty, mossy swamps like we see by dips in the road around here. I knew it would be gross to stand or lie in, but I was ready.

It wasn't what I expected. As we hiked to find a location, I lost one of my new sandals in the glue-like muck. Dave even stuck his hand way in there and couldn't find it. It's ok, I only paid $3 for them, and luckily he had brought some water shoes just in case I wanted them.

So he found what he wanted. A cave made from rotting tree roots, moss, and other disgusting things. Clouds of mosquitoes inside. He wanted me in there. I shook a little, said I would only do it because I love him (not that way, Danny ;) ), took a few deep breaths and plunged in. "Luckily" the water was almost up to my knees, so I was able to keep on the shoes.

I do rather like one of the poses, so I guess it was worth it. But... *shudder*
I may have nightmares. But afterwords I took a nice outdoor shower on the porch. Very refreshing! I just hope the photographer who's hiring me tonight isn't too angry about all the bug bites.

And wow, 50,000 views. About 5,000 a month recently. Thank you so very much, dear friends. My art isn't much without someone to see it.

Will it never end?

I made some life-affecting decisions in the past few days.

My visa application was deleted from the online system (my mom said she's never seen me cry so hard). I re-did the entire thing last night and am now working on some of the final documentary requirements.

I'm also trying to get to Minnesota tonight, staying until the 20th. Doing as many paid shoots while there as I can, but also saying some very important and depressing goodbyes. My visa biometrics appointment is in Milwaukee on the 21st, where I will also get to shoot with the wonderful Todd H Taylor for a second time. I have so much to do before leaving the country, but now especially that it's all in motion, I just want to be there (aside from missing a few people so much I'm not sure how I'll handle it). And one of the worst parts of this is that my usually very sweet cat has been having some behavior problems, so he can't stay with my mom and I haven't found anyone else to take him. He'll have to be put to sleep before I move. He's like a child to me. :(

Major stress with parents, too. Ugh. But I know it's because they love me.

And let's not even get into financial stress.

And haven't been able to get back to NYC since April like I was hoping. I actually have the travel costs covered by someone... just no time.

Time to start a new life. :)
I need to find myself some strength of character.
Here's hoping the visa goes through ok like the consulate said it should...

"I think that possibly, maybe I'm falling for you.
Yes there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you.
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down,
I want to come too.

I think that possibly, maybe I'm falling for you

No one understands me, quite like you do,
Through all of the shadowy corners of me.

I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop
I love so much.
All of the while, I never knew.
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop
I love so much.
All of the while, I never knew.

I think that possibly, maybe I'm falling for you.
Yes there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you.
I've seen the waters that make your eyes shine,
Now I'm shining too.

Because, oh because,
I've fallen quite hard over you.

If I didn't know you, I'd rather not know.
If I couldn't have you, I'd rather be alone.

I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop
I love so much.
All of the while, I never knew.
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop
I love so much.
All of the while, I never knew.

All of the while, all of the while,
And it's you."

And one of the main reasons I haven't been around much.

Remember that little mention of a photographer "from London with a hell of an accent"? And the photos of and by Danny? That's him. He flew me to London for 10 days and proposed a few seconds into 2008, after Big Ben rang. It may sound crazy, and maybe it is, but he's truly wonderful.

This is a very exciting time, but it's also a very stressful time (for several reasons, some of which I'm sure some of you can guess). The plan is that I'm moving to London at the end of March or very early April. There isn't a wedding date yet, but we're considering September or next spring. It'll be in Iowa.
"Don't talk to me about life."

It's tough right now. That's part of why I've been mostly absent here. Problems include relationships, school, family, and money.

NYC was wonderful in various ways. At least that makes me smile, along with a few other things.

I don't know how I'll ever get caught up with looking at people's uploads, not to mention comments.. but I'll try eventually.
I think I'm actually going!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving weekend, no less.

Amazing photographers, including one from London with a hell of an accent.
Awesome friends.
And so much more..........

Life has been rough this week and especially this weekend, but this has made my day. There are still things with which I need to deal, but it's wonderful to know I can probably make this happen.

Losing something/someone important to you is for the best.

The bittersweet feelings are rare now... only when I have to face it directly. And I know things are much better this way. :phew:

A., I miss you and wish you happiness.

September 18: I go to the ER for a bad muscle spasm in my back.

September 26: I go to urgent care for a cat bite on my face.

September 30: I find out from my cousin that something happened to our uncle Tom (my dad has a hard time talking about stuff like this, so I never find out in a timely manner). I call my dad who says that Tom had a heart attack 5 days ago. He's ok and in good spirits, but it's scary. For one thing, because I love him. He's not that old - mid 60s. The other thing is that my dad is the next oldest of the 4 brothers. Their dad as well as 2 of their uncles all had heart attacks. Tom was there when their dad died. These were/are all healthy people. It's genetic.

My dad said to me, "These things happen when you get older, which is why I wanted to see you get your life in order." Thankfully, I am doing that. But it was weird to hear my incredibly stoic dad say that... it hit me after I hung up the phone. He knows it could happen to him. I'm going to call back in a few days and ask if he's had his heart checked recently. These brothers are all so bad about going to the doctor.

I guess if bad things happen in threes, I should be ok for a while... :hmm:
Though there are other, smaller things I haven't even mentioned. Life is quite the rollercoaster sometimes.

Things may look up from here. Or they may go downhill horribly and quickly. But... at least last night was a good one. I really, really needed that.

Edit: I just realized something when I looked in the mirror. oh my god, I'm 26 and going to class with hickeys on my neck. Wonder if I should wear a turtleneck. lmao
