The Star's SestinaWe always have watched the night sky
Eager to prove the existence of God.
We try to find answers in the star's light.
Tommorow unveiled by our zodiac,
A God-given warden who guards our sleep
And wishful thinking fulfilled by the stars.
As children we thought that stars
Consisted of cheese attached to the sky.
As youngsters we knew that during our sleep
We could save the world and shake hands with God;
As adults we learned that our zodiac
Is but a group of stars that reflect light.
Hearts are torches. They pump light
Through our veins like a thousand shooting stars.
If 'Doubt' was a sign of the zodiac
A veil would block our gaze towards the sky;
The giving hand would not be that of God
And nightmares haunt us when we seek for sleep.
Dreams that find us when we sleep
Match the ones that we follow in day's light.
One can draw strength from believing in God
Or explore the future by watching stars,
But the answers lie far below the sky
Where mankind once made up the zodiacs.
