Mathematical SurrealismCurrrently I am working on finishing my writing project "Mathematical Surrealism".
This project is a poem series about mathematical issues. The target group is for people who give mathematics a second chance. (No mathematical knowledge is needed.) Both surreal and abstract, yet about a very real topic I try to dig deeper into the core of reality. Together the poems build up on each other and form a holistic message; They are about paradoxes and the problem modern physicists struggle with; to find the Theory of Everything!
In the heart of this book the reader will cross many surreal thoughts about the many layers of reality and how the world looks through a mathematician's eyes.
To give a small insight here are some pictures:
IoT - The Special Figure-Background Relationship
The above picture by Scott Kim shows the word “figure”. The tricky part is that even the background tells “figure” – Thus one can’t determine what is background and what is figure!
In my pictures I tried to use this symbolism in form of a ghost. It should be a part of the picture (“environment”/background) and a single part of itself (“observer”/figure). This could lead us to ideas of reductionism and holism.
But, one can’t determine if this ghost explains the pictures as if it was outside the pictures or if it is a part of the pictures itself. In this case, both is true – a common paradox is born!
Another example I have is about the following: One can’t determine the borders of anything for everything interacts vividly. The best example is quantum mechanics, in which particles/waves can even be superposed. A more clear example is the following: If we look at a star,
Do you know what fires your imaginationEverybody has an imagination. Some of us have learned to use ours better than others. People say they aren't creative, but everybody is creative, because everybody has an imagination.
Imagination needs to be fed, but not necessarily in the form your medium. Because that is akin to cannibalism to me.
Do you know what fires your imagination?

spyed: Why do creative people need a community?
ekud: Everybody needs a community, it's a deviation from the norm to have creativity be a defining characteristic of your person. A central tenant of your life. However you want to say it. So to find a group of people that share that, and have that affinity, is a basic human need. To have affinity with others.
spyed: Does having access to a community of like-minded people help the creative process in your view?
ekud: Sharing your affinity with others is what's going to feed that basic need that you're not necessarily going to be able to find within arms

Happy 15th Birthday! In April I wrote a post reflecting on my 15 years at DeviantArt, since the project began in April of 2000 and was launched to the public on August 7th. I went back and re-read what I wrote, and wow, speaking of audacious I'm pretty hardcore in this post. I write from my heart sometimes and then I hit post and that's that. So for our official 15th Birthday I wanted to re-share a link to that post:
And then today, I wrote this reflection for you as a toast & thanks for all the llamas:

You will soon see us release many years of effort, repositioning DeviantArt from all we have learned over our 15 years of managing the worlds largest creator community.
Thank you for all of your support over the
F.A.Q. TIME!!I get quite a few messages here on DA with various questions and requests. I don't have time due to work and family to answer all of them individually like I would like so I think a handy-dandy FAQ is in order. This way maybe I can answer a question before it's even asked and/or have a journal I can easily direct people to. So here we go!
Q: Can you give me any tips on how to draw/color,paint/whatever better?
A: The quick and easy answer is that there aren't any secrets to being able to draw well. I know it's not what people want to hear and everyone is looking for a magic trick that will instantly make them a better artist. The truth is that I have dedicated 1000s of hours to art in an effort to get better. I attended figure drawing classes, went to conventions and spent hours talking to other artists, and spent nearly every dime I had on books and art supplies. I lived it and breathed it. When you were out on a date or playing video games or seeing movies I was probably home d
Using Cross-Figure With Genesis 8Cross-Figure Genesis 3 is a program that allows you to use Genesis 3 Female hair and clothing on Genesis 3 Male and vice versa without using AutoFit. There are some extra steps using it with Genesis 8, but you don't have to be able to use a modeling program (unless you want to make a better ID morph after you're done, but we'll get to that).
Here's a YouTube version. You'll have to turn your sound up. Sorry.
