Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli by dwightyoakamfan Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli by dwightyoakamfan
- Drawn in Black Pen and Black Sharpie -

A drawing I did for [link] because she requested it! I hope you like it :)
I put a lot of work into it, and it's my first time drawing Liza ever! ^^

So any feedback would be so nice! :D

I haven't been commenting on here lately, but HAVE to for this one.

LOVE! (Does that sum it up?)

LizasLilProtege, you're gonna make her afraid to draw Liza with all those details she has to remember now, hahaha! (Kidding.) I never knew she had a nose job! I can't believe I never noticed that. She has my hair, though. Or I have her hair, rather. Mine just grew out from being super (sooper) short and it's starting to flop. Now I can make it pointy on the sideburns area, heh!

When you suggested a drawing of them, I never even thought of them kissing. Sarah rocks for bringing alive all the little things that should have happened but never did. :)

Hopefully I can find my way to a printer tomorrow and get this one on paper!

OMG!!!! :D :D :D :D :D I love it so so so so so so SO much! Wow, that's pretty amazing that that's your first attempt at drawing Liza O_O I've drawn her tons of times and still can't get her to look quite right! And Dudley looks AMAZING. You've definitely perfected him! :D One of the only suggestions I can make for future reference when drawing Liza is that her eyebrows tend to be very pronounced. Depending on what era you're drawing her in, her eyebrows vary in thickness, but they have a fair amount of arch and curve to them. There's a few other minor details to keep in mind when drawing Liza, but at the angle this was drawn, none of them come into play here. If you ever feel like drawing her again, lemme know and I'll give you some pointers ^_^ You did very well and I'd love to see more of this pairing!

Aww, I'm so glad that you like it!

And I've drawn Dudley like over 150
times (literally) so I'm used to him XD

Yeah I was having problems with her
eyebrows, I tried to give them as
much curve and thickness I could
from that angle XP

I will totally try this pairing
again in the future! They're cute ^^

Hee!! I can't wait! ^_^ I'm probably nutso... I love the pairing so much that in one major online roleplay game, I portray Liza....and have this whole detailed backstory of how she and Dudley were secretly lovers for nearly 20 years but could never let it become public knowledge for various reasons, but felt they were each other's true soulmates, ended up having a daughter together, etc etc... Unfortunately, most of the players there don't know (nor care) who Liza or Dudley are, so all my detailed storylines are for nothin'. :p I'm seriously debating just writing it all out as a fanfiction story... I seem to recall explaining the whole thing to Lisa ages ago, and I had pinpointed every detail down to the point where even she was agreeing it made perfect sense X-D So yes. I go all giddy over any time Liza and Dudley are together for anything ^_^ (And even moreso that I got my question accepted in a video of hers a few months ago that she answered about him!)

But yeah, since you're still learning the tricks to drawing Liza, I can point out all the little tiny details about her that really make her distinguishable as being Liza :) Such as, her lower lip on the left side (her right, our left) is uneven from the other side. The right side is full, whereas the leftside is much thinner and dips down a little. (She got into a motorcycle accident with Alice Cooper. True story. X-D) When drawing her eyes, the lower outer edges curve downwards a little so that there's more white of the eye showing. Unless she's squinting, there's pretty much always white visible underneath the bottom of the pupils peeking out, even if just a teeny bit. (It makes all the difference!) And if you really want to get detailed, I can point out the way she does her eye makeup to where it actually looks like hers. ;) It's subtle, and unless you know how she does it, it's almost impossible to make it look right, and you sit there wondering why you can't quite make it look right! And the lashes, obviously enough, are critical to the Liza likeness. When drawing a full length pic of her, her legs are almost unnaturally long compared to the rest of her body. If you see pictures of her in outfits that really show it off (such as the Liza with a Z little red dress...), going by where the tops of her legs/hips end, her torso is actually pretty short. (Should you ever feel inclined to draw Judy Garland, she was built exactly the same way. Like mother, like daughter, I guess! I only noticed because they both have the weirdly high butt. X-D) I'm trying to think of anything else....Oh! Her nose. It seems silly, but it's the same thing with Dudley; you get the nose wrong, and it throws off the drawing! Since I doubt you're aiming to draw older Liza, I'll just explain the pre-nosejob nose X-D It was cuter!! (It's just plain too straight now. :p) It was very subtley ski slope... not excessively so, but a very mild curve. And then the tip, I swear had just the perfect amount of roundedness to it to where it looked pretty and not weird! (She should've left it alone. X-D) If you need pictures to illustrate any of the details I've pointed out, just lemme know, I've got TONS. ;) And for expressiveness, she talks with her hands. A LOT. And her hand gestures tend to be very overtly feminine and delicate. Also worth emphasis is the length of her fingers (which I did notice you captured!). She's always had very long, slender fingers. Just one of those people who doesn't even need to have their nails done, they just naturally have pretty hands! Agh! So jealous...

Can do! Do you need screenshots from the Arthur films, or just of her in general, or what? :) I've got em all, hahaha. I'm still amused as all hell they posed together for Playgirl X-D (And I'm just pathetic enough to have gone out of my way to buy it...)

I saw that issue up for $25 the other day and as much as I want it to put on my site, $25 is a bit too much for a mag I'm only gonna look at for one reason, haha!

When/if I can get a scanner (I get my art on here by taking pics of it...that's why the quality isn't a bit higher :p), I'll scan mine :)

Awwww, that one's a really pretty one of her! :D As for fave *ever*? Oh man....it's a constantly changing thing! I have a ton, but I'll narrow it down to a handful, and you can take your pick of what one(s) you wanna try your hand at, and even ones you don't use, they're still good for reference to learn her features! ^_^

Like I said, I do *not* expect you to use all these, lol!! But they're a reference, and you can sorta get an idea even of her personality and mannerisms even just through the photos :)
