Since it's now been two years since I first made my account, I think it's time to show some love and appreciation to the artists that I've interacted with on occasions and let them know how much I appreciate them as artists and people. An incidental reason I want to give a shout-out to them is because of the fact that I realized that so many people who had accounts here (including several of my watchers) are now deactivating their account here in 2018, hence why this year has been extremely quiet compared to 2017. It's kinda sad, really. So many people in this site with work you enjoyed and you've formed a rapport to are leaving DA. So I want to let all of my watchers know how much I appreciate them before they decide to deactivate their accounts as well. Last month, I just discovered that Lucy (who goes by the username Panrill
) deactivated her account due to personal problems. That's a shame too, because while I kinda understood why she had to leave, I was expecting her to hang out here all summer long. She had so much wonderful artwork and was a really nice person. I'm sure she would've been very appreciated of me giving a shout-out to her in this journal.
Oh well. I hope she's doing well.
Now before I start, I want you to know that I'm not gonna give a shout-out to ALL my watchers and the other people I watch. I appreciate every last one of my watchers, but I feel that these are the people I appreciate as both artists and people the most. So before I get into it, I'd like to list the people I've had the most conversations with and how they influenced me:
Folks I've had interesting conversations with
She's been on this site for about a decade now, and when I came across one of her groups, I'd figure that she seems like a pretty reasonable person to talk to. That and she has some cute artwork, and just like me, she's against all fanbrats no matter who or what they're a fan of. In fact, while she's a fan of old Sonic stuff, such as Sonic SatAM, even she will concede that it's had its fair share of flaws, and honestly, while I dislike how contemporary kids who are so smug to the point where they keep playing the "nostalgia" card in order to talk shit to the folks who grew up with things from the 90s and beyond, the fans of the 90s stuff aren't really much better when they behave in such a supercilious manner and even attempt to demoralize the kids of the newer generation for not experiencing the good stuff that were from their own decade. Maggie isn't either of them. She's more open-minded and can see the good and bad in both sides. I really wish I could meet more people who aren't very provincial. I also appreciate some of her advice to me, all of which are very helpful and alleviates whatever stress I suffer during my stint in this site. And for that, I appreciate you, Maggie.
While she doesn't seem to be much of an artist, I still gotta give her props for that advice she gave me on my apology journal last month. She told me that even though it's great I'm admitting my mistakes, I shouldn't go and attack myself just for making them, and I should learn to forgive myself. Honestly, that's also something a lot of us should learn whenever we fuck up on something, because getting upset about it will only exacerbate the predicament. So I feel that this person definitely deserves a mention from me, because her words were so eloquent and very helpful. Thanks for the advice, girl. Hope you do better in the future as well.
She mostly makes stamps, but it was always a pleasure to read her conversations regarding her opinions. Even though we both disagreed on certain things, she does still respect my choices, and it was real interesting to listen to each other's conflicting opinions. I really like a person who gives me a more lucid reason as to why he/she disagrees with me, and that's what I really like about this girl. I'm also with her to keep the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise standing and hate to see it brought down by rabid fanbrats/haters.
For those who don't know, this is my real life friend, Mitchel. We both met in college spring of 2013. He was majoring in designing while I was majoring in graphic communication. Ever since we met, we formed a rapport and always had interesting chats. We would both give each other advice whenever one of us would slip into a pickle and try to help each other out. After Mitchel lost his cousin two months ago, I reached out to him and helped him bounce back from his loss, and when I feared that the doctors were going to fuck up my appendicitis operation in June, he kept me from panicking and helped me face this bravely. Overall, he's the closest friend I've ever had in my life (aside from my childhood best friend Julian, but he doesn't have an account here, so...), which is fitting since we both lived most of our preteen/teenage years living as recluses. Mad respect for you, Mitch.
Now here are the top 5 deviants I appreciate both for their work and the people they are the most:
Top 5 Deviants I appreciate as both artists and people
He has some pretty funny artwork. I really like his style of work. His OCs are pretty cool and funny. While some of the lineart quality needs a little work, the way the characters are design are pretty distinctive. I would love to see more improvements. Also, he's pretty funny and is just real cool to talk to. Out of all the artists here in DA, he seems to support my work on my own cartoon the most and seems the most anticipated to see it when I somehow get it on television. Anyways, much respect to you, man. Keep up the diligence!
is a real good artist and is real kind and understanding. While it would be a stretch to say her work is original, it's the way she styles her FC's that makes her artwork aesthetic to most eyes. Her style is rather cute, and her color values in most of the characters is somewhat lavish. Listen, I know we don't really interact very much, but I really appreciate your work, and you also seem like an amiable person. Just keep up the good work! The same thing I can say about your sister....
She's the sister of
. Her style is a little bit similar to her sister's style, so there isn't much I can say that I ain't said before. I can say, however, that she has a distinctive way of drawing FCs. I like how she takes it to another direction and makes aquatic FCs, her character Aqua the Dolphin, in particular, has a very cute design. I'm surprised she don't have more artwork of her, because I would love to see her in different poses. I really hope you liked my present I drew you for your birthday in 2017, TOYSTARS
. I really want to draw your FC Aqua one more time this year for your b-day, because you deserve a second gift. You're also pretty nice and cordial. And don't worry. I can wait as long as I can for your half of the trade. I can be patient. Just continue working on your art when you get the time. It's great to see how far you've come.
The minute I saw this young girl's gallery, I decided to see what else she had in stores. Her artwork is pretty distinctive to say the least. I really like how she draws the eyes of her OCs. They really bring in that 1940s animation art style with a mix of that anime style. I really love the combo of the two. The way the anatomy is drawn on most characters is also very unique. I also love her animation, and really appreciate her desire to be a cartoonist someday. I think the only thing she needs to work on is trying to get that realistic style sometime soon, because she has a lot of potential, and I think she has all the time to improve. She's also a really nice person who has great gratitude for anyone who does anything nice for her. You deserve all those 1,000+ watchers, Mushi! You're a good artist with so much potential, and I hope you'll feel much better in the future.
Yep! Out of all the deviants on this site, I appreciate GothNebula the most. If you're reading this, Sam, I gave you a shout-out on this journal to let you know how much I admire you as an artist and as a person. After mentioning me and my work I drew for you as a birthday gift, along with a few others', I felt especially appreciated you would save everyone's work of art in your photobook to remember the artists by. So I felt it was time for me to reciprocate. It's amazing how this girl has come such a long way since 2012. Yeah, I know she was a bit immature in the past, but she's gotten better over the years and is still making good artwork. She's so creative and has such an interesting perspective on certain things that even motivates her great artwork. I like the design of her FC, Nebula the Hedgehog, and so far, her FC is gradually developing over the years. She's also a very fun person to chat with. Plus she has so much in common with me: We're both mildly autistic, we're both creative, we both have a different insight of certain things. Of course, we also have our differences, as she supports Sonamy while I support Sonally. But we don't let our differences alienate each other. Like I said before, I got nothing against Sonamy fans as long as they're not so damn bratty about their OTP. In conclusion, while she still needs to work on her stories, her artwork has improved over the last six years. Please don't stop doing more artwork, Samantha! You're so creative and talented, not to mention incredibly affable, which is why I have great respect for you as an artist and as a person. I'm very glad I got to know you.
I appreciate all of you. You folks really have some of the most awesome artwork, and it's such an honor to know you all as people as well. I really like your works, and I hope you don't stop doing what you all love. Respect to all of you.
And for all the other watchers of mines I haven't called, I really appreciate you all over here. Don't think for a second I don't appreciate your work or your company. It's just that there's just so many of you that I don't have such energy to type in everybody's icon in this journal. So please don't feel as if I ignored you. So as a special bonus, I'm gonna list the folks who I appreciate as honorable mentions
Again, if I didn't list you here, don't get upset. I appreciate every last one of my watchers, and I'd also like to thank you all for the support and not losing any respect for me after my mistakes. You've really helped my profile grow and had such an interesting influence of me. I appreciate your gratitude, y'all.
