PRINCESS LUNA RELEASED, RESTORED

Extra Night Celebration Accidentally Overlooked

By Flora Martingale, Equestria Press

CANTERLOT - Twelve extra hours of nighttime were ordered by Her Royal Majesty Princess Celestia in celebration of the return of her sister, Her Royal Highness Princess Luna.

Luna was imprisoned in the moon 1000 years ago after a failed insurrection intended to bring eternal night, according to ancient legend, and was released yesterday.

Due to a mixup in Canterlot's Public Affairs Office, Luna's release and return at the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville yesterday went unannounced, says royal spokespony Rhumba Starshimmer.

Officials apologize for the lack of notice which resulted in temporary disorder worldwide, and say the responsible parties have been duly reprimanded.

Her Royal Majesty Princess Celestia announced Luna has served her time, and restored her throne and authority over night and the moon.

Celestia, who raises the sun each morning and until today raised the moon each night, requests that all ponykind afford her sister the same trust and devotion due the elder princess herself.

"The past millenium's advances in Equestrian society and international relations will necessarily require Princess Luna to ease back into affairs of state," said Starshimmer.  "Suitable tutors of all gaits of life have been asked to lend a hoof in getting Her Royal Highness back up to speed."

"That gal's alright.  Go watch the moon rise tonight and clop your hooves, show her your lovin'," said Sapphire Shores, pop musician.

The article presented here was sent by dragon to all the newspapers in Equestria.

Two days after the Summer Sun Celebration and the return of Princess Luna, the Ponyville Gazette burned to the ground as a result of its late editor's carelessness.

The Griffon Kingdom made no complaints about the extra twelve hours of night.

Thanks. After writing the first one, I realized it was TOO clear, too revealing.

The second is the redacted version that won't signal Celestia's moment of weakness to the Dragon Council, the Griffon Empire, or the Diamond Dog Slavery Consortium.

... I don't think that would be weakness... I would think that would be "You know how you respected my raw power before? Well, I just got beat, then teamed up with the person who beat me and welcomed her with open wings to be my co-ruler... think about that for a bit."

Thanks. My English For Media teacher loved the first one, but upon re-reading it, I realized any reporter with her head on straight would never report the head of state in such a position of (apparent) weakness. Then I had a "Tyrant Celestia" epiphany and rewrote it thusly.

I love when you have one of those epiphanies!

And it's such an awesome word, too. It's the materialisation of a god's avatar, and is often used of Jesus appearing to his disciples after the resurrection.
