Cutting with Trim

Trim has a function to cut two or more intersected objects. On the Trim, the first object to be selected will cut the second object to be selected.

Click Pick Tool klick click the object going to be cut, click Objects > Shaping > Trims menu thus the object will be cut. Or click trim on Property Bar

Cutting with Front Minus Back

Front Minus Back is the object cutting on the upper of the object on the bottom and the object on the bottom will directly disappears. As simple, object on above will be erased by the object on the bottom.

Click Pick Tool klick click the object to be cut, click Object > Shaping > Front Minus Backs menu thus the object will be cut. Or click FMB on Property Bar

Cutting with Back Minus Front

Back Minus Front is the inverse of Front Minus Back, which means it will cut the object on the bottom by the upper object and object on the top will disappears. As simple, the object on the bottom just like be erased by the object on the top.

Click Pick Tool klick select the object going to be cut, click Objects > Shaping > Back Minus Front menu thus the object will be cut. Or click  fbms on Property Bar

Cutting with Simplify

Simplify is an order of object cutting, the object on the top will cut the intersected object on the bottom.

Click Pick Tool klick select the objects, at least three objects to be cut, click Objects > Shaping > Simplify menu thus those objects will be cut. Or click  simpli on Property Bar

Lock the object means that we want the object we choose can’t be moved, shifted or the position to be moved.

The step in locking the object:

Click Pick Toll klick selects the object, click Object > Lock > Lock Object menu.

If we want to unlock the object, click Pick Tool klick  selects the object, click Object > Unlock Object menu or right click, select Unlock Object.

Weld has a function to unite or combine two or more objects into one new object or single object.

Click Pick Tool klick choose the object to be united or combined, click Objects > Shaping > Weld menu, thus the objects will turn into a single object. or click weld on Property Bar

If it’s coloured object, thus the colour of the new object resulted from the combination will follow the las object colour we choose.

For the example choose object with yellow colour as the last colour.

Combining two or more objects on CorelDRAW X7 into one object group, automatically, the previous separated objects will be grouped.

How to Make a Group

Click Pick Tool klick choose several object, click Objects > Group > Group Object menu thus those objects will be grouped.

The other way to make object Group is by clicking Group  group icon on Property Bar or Ctrl+ G

How to Separate a Group

Click Pick Tool klick choose the object, click Objects > Group >Ungroup Object thus the object will be re-separated.

The other way to separate the object is by clicking Ungroup  ungroup icon or Ungroup All Objects ungroup allon Property Bar or Ctrl+U.

When we make two objects or more on CorelDRAW X7 in the same position, automatically the objects will be overlapped; there will be an object on the front, in the middle, or on the back. This function of Order will put the position in the right order as you desire, on the front, in the middle, or on the back.

Click Pick Tool klick Click Pick Tool, choose Objects > Order, thus this following appearance will turn up.

To Front of Page (Ctrl+Home)

Move the object to the upper position.

It is similar with To Front of Page, it’s just like that the object stands in front on the same layer.

To Back of Layer (Shift+PgDn)

Increase the object position a degree.

When we make a design in CorelDRAW X7 and need object alignment, there are several ways in its setting, here the step go.

For several object, like several boxes with different size, click Pick Tool klick and select all the objects.

On Align and Distribute there are six options of Align, here are the explanations and its examples.

Align Left left

Set the object left-side aligned.

Align Center Horizontally align hori

Set the object horizontally centre aligned.

Align Right align right

Set the object right- side aligned.

Set the object bottom aligned.

Align Center Vertically vertical

Set the object vertically centre aligned.

Texture is an instruction of filling the object with the textured color available in Texture Library.

The followings are the steps of filling the object with Texture. 

Click Pick Tool klick to select an object, click the Interactive Fill fill, button, click+hold the Two-Color Pattern Fillbutton and select Texture Fill.

Click Texture Fill and select one of the Textures. For instance, select Samples.

Color Pallete is the boxes containing list of colors used to color the object, either the content or the lines of the object.

The steps of coloring an object by using Color Palette are as follows:

Click Pick Toll klick to select an object, click one of the colors in Color Palette, so the object will have the color that you have selected, e.g. yellow.

Pattern Fill is one of the instructions to give color shading on the object.

The followings are the steps of coloring an object by using Pattern Fill:

Vector Pattern:

Display the color patterns with a color complete format.

Bitmap Pattern:

Display the images with bitmap format.

Two-colors Pattern:

Display two color formats.

Uniform Fill is an instruction of object coloring with one solid color.

The followings are the steps of coloring an object by using Uniform Fill:

Click Pick Toll klick to select an object, click the Interactive Fill  fill button in the Toolbox, click UniformFill then select a color and the brightness level according to your preference by moving the slider in the color selection box.

Mesh Fill is an instruction to give some shades of Gradient with one line on one object.

The steps of coloring an object using Mesh Fill are as follows:

Click Pick Tool  klick select an object, click Interactive Fill fill  and then select Mesh Fill  mesh fill so Mesh line or the line bordering the color of an object will appear. Change the value of Gride Size in Property Bar to determine the size of the coloring area.

Gradient is a mixture or combination of several colors which generates color composition effect.

The steps of coloring an object using Gradient:

Click Pick Tool klick and then select object, click Interactive Fill  fill in the Toolbox, then click Fountain Fill in theProperty Bar.

Linear Fountain Fill

It is Gradient color settings with straight-line color pattern.

Examples of How To Change or Edit Color Composition

Click Interactive Fill fill, select the object, click one of the color boxes you want to change until the color Pallete appears, select the color you desire.

Color Picker is a way to copy the color of an object that makes other objects have the same color.

The steps are:

  1. Take an object whose color you will copy, click Color Eyedropper eyedorpperso the pointer will change into a pipette.
  2. Choose the color that you like with the pipette, then the pointer will change into a can  can .
  3. Finally, click the object that you want.

Creating a Mirror effect means to copy the objects which results are reverse as if in a mirror. Click the objects you want to give Mirror effect, click Ctrl, then click+hold+drag towards the right side of the objects until the position changes; the objects’ left side changes into the right side.

If you want to return initial from of the objects from the measures, rotation, sideways or others, click Object > Transformations > Clear Transformations then the objects will return to normal.

To erase the Objects, we can use Eraser tool. Please folow these steps.

Click the objects to be erased and the click Eraser Tool eraser and erase the desired parts.

We can cut objects with the following tools, that is, with Crop and Knife tool.

Cutting the Objects with Crop

To crop objects with Crop Tool crop, then select the desired objects, click+hold+drag and then double click.

Transform is a certain method to change object form. There are some methods in changing the size of object in CorelDraw. Just follow the steps below: 

First Method:

Click Pick Tool klick click and click and drag the corner of object, then if you want to transform the size of object but keep the object in its coordinate place, click Shift.

Second Method:

Click Pick Tool klick click object, click menu Object > Transformations > Scale and Mirror or Alt+F9.

Then there will appear panel of Transformations that could be changed based on preference.

For example: x: 60,0 y: 60,0 Copies: 4 then click Apply.

Some Methods to Skew Size of Object

First Method:

Click Pick Tool klick click object and click again until Handle Rotation appears(marked by red circle). Click and drag and direct it according to your preference.

Second Method:

Click Pick Tool klick then click object, and click menu Object > Transformations > Skew. Then the panel ofTransformations will appear. This panel could be changed according to your preference. Example: x: 10,0 y: 0,0 Copies: 0 then click Apply.

There are some methods to rotate object, follow the following steps:  

First Method:

Click Pick Tool klick the click the object over and over click until there appears Handle Rotation (marked by red circle) that is on the corner of object. After that rotate the object according to preference.

Click Pick Tool klick then click object, by clicking menu Object > Transformations > Rotate or Alt+F8.

Then there will be shown panel of Transformations that could be changed based on preference.

For example: x: 0,983 y: 3,06 Copies: 4 then click Apply.

To move the object from its original position to the new position, do the methods below:

First Method:

Click Pick Tool klick then click+drag the object to the wanted position.

Second Method:  The second method is moving and duplicating objects at once

Click Pick Tool klick then click object, click menu Object > Transformations > Position or Alt+F7.

Then there is the panel of Transformations that could be changed according to necessity. Example: x: 0,5 y: 0 Copies: 2 then click Apply.

There are some steps to copy or duplicate object.

Follow the methods below: 

First Method :

Click Pick Tool klick and Copy button copy or click Ctrl+C on keyboard to duplicate object and click Paste button paste thus the object will be duplicated in stacked. If you want to separate it, just click and drag it to the wanted place. 

For example:

Second Method: 

Click Pick Tool klick on the wanted object, click menuEdit > Duplicate (Ctrl+D) thus Duplicate Offset will appear,click OK.   

Then it will be look like this:

Third Method: 

By using mouse, click Pick Tool klick click+hold+move to the wanted object then right click the mouse and release both clicks.

Fourth Method: 

Click Pick Tool klick then click the object and click Edit > Step and Repeat (thus there will appear panel for Step and Repeat on the right side of the screen).

After Step and Repeat appears, change the setting of Distance, Number of wanted copies. 

On Horizontal & Vertical Settings there will be changeable commands:  

No Offset: no distance between object and its duplicate   

Offset: arrange the distance of object and its duplicate

Spacing Between Objects: arrange the distance between objects

Distance: determine distance between objects 

Direction: determine the direction of object placement of duplicate result Left/Right or Up/Down

Number of Copies: arrange the number of wanted duplicate.
