These are animated cartoon characters that debuted on TV from 1950 to 1956. In doing my research, I discovered that there weren't a whole lot of animated cartoons in the early 1950's. Most of the childrens shows had either real people or puppets. Since there were so few cartoons, I grouped these years together into one drawing. (More can be seen in the "History of TV Animation" folder in my gallery.)

(left to right)
Paddy the Pelican - The Adventures of Paddy the Pelican (1950)
Winky Dink - Winky Dink and You (1953)
Gumby - Howdy Doody (1955) & The Gumby Show (1956)

The first Gumby cartoon actually aired as an animated segment on Howdy Doody in 1955. Because of it's popularity, Gumby got is own series soon after. So I listed both here.

I remember Gumby. I used to have a Gumby figure- had his pony pal, too.

I think they were the first 'action figures' I ever owned.
