WCL: Another Way vertical test by Dualmask WCL: Another Way vertical test by Dualmask
Testing... the complete WCL: Another Way comic, posted vertically. I decided that the exposition chapters would only go for eight pages while the ones that focus on the Combat portion of WEAPON Combat League would go for 16 (if I can manage it). However, I admit I stuffed a lot of exposition in the last few pages of this chapter and it didn't feel like it went over as well as it could have. Live and learn. I'm going to keep moving forward because as Jake Parker says, 'finished, not perfect'.

It's all I can do. Other folks just disappear into the depths and focus on their product while I'm sitting here trying to get every line and image in every panel scrutinized... No more time for that, not if this story is going to get told.

You're doing great, and it WILL get better as you go.

So, mad respect! I understand what goes into making pages. I know because I'm doing it and it's a tedious labor of love. I see everything you put in there, making simple backgrounds to make them actually occupy a space. You've got just outstanding colors and it all looks so professional! Some crits are, that you're generally not minding the page flow, so the paneling sometimes messes with the storytelling. Pages 2 and 6 are where you move the eye around the pages well. Page 8 would've worked if you'd reversed the angle in the last panel, too. This is obviously well written and has good dialog and you're really good at keeping your characters consistent. This is great work.

I thought it read fairly well for what I was writing, but I know it could be better. What I need to do in the future is make sure I plan the art better and make lettering and narration part of the art from the beginning so it doesn't get awkward or forced in there. I believe things will improve as I go along. Really appreciate the feedback, my friend!
