SS Day 9 - RPB Bridget by Dualmask SS Day 9 - RPB Bridget by Dualmask
Now in color!

Satellite Soda Daily Draw February drawing number nine ...and it has something of a story.

Her strength is Herculean, but her will is broken.

The enchanted crown on her head supresses all conscious thought. Any words other than orders from the generals on the battlefield fall on deaf ears, and she obeys her commands with absolute discipline. But no matter how many times the court sorcerers belabor the fact that their spell guarantees she has no mind of her own, the soldiers never forget she is a supernaturally powerful, sensual weapon, and could probably lay waste to the entire army singlehanded if she exerted even an ounce of effort. They give her a wide berth while the weapon carries out her work.

Wielding a massive ball and chain and swinging it with the difficulty of a child playing with a yo-yo, she shatters the wall of the fort and clears away the last obstacle holding the army back from invading their enemy's terrain.

Her orders complete, she will soon be taken by her arms away from the battlefield, returned to the encampment where others of her kind are equally bonded; their assets to be used to boost the soldiers' morale in more lecherous ways...

I generally like to draw female characters who fully embrace both strength and sex appeal with confidence and poise, but my latest RPB is admittedly the total opposite of that. As always, zero planning goes into the creation of a Random Practice Babe, save after the base idea is planted and begins to grow on the paper. It may offend some, or people will look at it the same way I do--simply as something I drew.

Let me know what you think!

Interesting story and a friggin' awesome character!

I feel sorry for her tough =( I hope she'll manage to break her chains someday and have some revenge.

Thanks! Sometimes the most interesting ideas come to you when you stop actually trying to come up with ideas. :D

We may never see poor Bridget again, but this scenario is the piece of a larger concept I've been thinking about for a long time. Don't know when or if it'll ever see the light of day.

That's true! I got my ideas mostly when I'm working, but I've considered brainstorming or something like that =D

Awww, that's bad =( is it a comic, story? It'd be cool if you shared it =)

Well the long and the short of it is that girls like Bridget here are ancient ancestors of modern characters like Jet Dancer and Fallen Wing, used for the same purposes of creating and using super-powerful women as both weapons and concubines. However, Jet Dancer actually has her freedom. Because I'm focused on my webcomic right now, developing that idea is on the back burner, possibly indefinitely.

I must say, this is the best SSDD I've seen yet man. Very beautiful work. I know this is just a RPB but I'd like to see this fully rendered man. This is awesome, and the passage you wrote under is a very nice compliment to the art.

Thanks Barry! I was happy with all the RPBs I did this week, but when I got to this one, I started noticing some issues with my drawing that I needed to address. Even though I love drawing pretty girls, the girl isn't the only thing in the image that deserves attention. It seems obvious but that's not how I treated these drawings. Instead, my usual motif was to put effort into drawing the girl and then throw some simple backdrop back there and not worry about it being sketchy because the girl was the focus.

But for this one, it was different. I spent more time on everything, from the chains on her wrists to the lumps of dirt and rocks on the ground. It's kind of messed up that I don't put this much conscious effort into everything I draw by hand but I've grown so accustomed to leaning on Photoshop that I forgot the power of a simple pencil and how it can be used to render anything with a little attention and effort.

I want to make drawing at this level, and higher, a habit, but this image has really set a bar for me that I'm not sure I can top.

I know you you can match this and surpass this level of art man. It's amazing seeing you grow as an artist. I hope I can up my level as you have.

I like how she does look helpless, but at the same time, in the back of my mind, I can easily see her start swinging as though she were born to it. Well done as always my friend

Thanks! That's what I wanted. Her eyes are listless but you can see she's dangerous and might just snap those shackles...

Well, I never said THAT...;p No, really, I didn't use a reference per se, but I did think of a certain photo I saw a long time ago while I was deciding what I wanted to draw, and I kind of just recalled it from memory. So yes and no to the reference question.

See, I could have just said "nope, no ref!" but I'm an artist of honor. :iconherotimeplz:
