SS Day 6 - RPB Riela by Dualmask SS Day 6 - RPB Riela by Dualmask
Drew this today for Satellite Soda Daily Draw February. I enjoyed putting this together. For those who don't know, RPB stands for "Random Practice Babe". Just a drawing of a female tossed together completely by instinct and given an random name. Not an actual character with a story or anything like that.

Before I put the base sketch into Photoshop, I made a photocopy of it and practiced colored pencil work on it. Unlike that Jet Dancer drawing, I actually wasn't sick when I worked on this one. Check it out here: [link]

For the remainder of the challenge, if it takes me more than five minutes to come up with something to draw daily, I'm going to lean in this general direction.

It's a neat pic- I like the floating island in the background. For a fast picture, it has a lot of visual density and interest in it. That really helps "ground" the image. And as before, the rock treatment is well done.

Thanks! This one wasn't necessarily fast though--the idea came fast but the execution took a while, especially the colored pencil part. I did enjoy the process though. I like randomly adding fantasy elements to these kinds of drawing, just to get some creative juices flowing.

Thanks! Kind of tame compared to the ones that followed but I'm no less happy with it. Sometimes a good pinup is all that's needed. :)

Eh...oh, all right. I'm generally not a fan of art trades but it's true we have been watching each other for quite a long time.

BUT...someone else asked me for an art trade a short time ago and I promised him that I would after I finished working on the first chapter of my webcomic. Can't do one with you until after I fulfill that promise, and I'm not finished the chapter yet.

Thanks! I'm overall happy with this and now I want to take RPBs to the next level; making the illustration tell some sort of story by using more descriptive posing and expressions of my figures.

I agree with hulkdaddy about her right foot. I love the shading on this.

Thanks! I wish I could redraw it but given the shading it would just become a smudgy mess. But at least the tweak I made makes it a little better.

You've got a lot of good things going on here. I like her overall shape. It's unusual for you to draw women this way, they usually tend to be more compact. She's strong looking as well without making her muscular, very cool. There are a couple of oddities, her hair while not a problem, keeps making me thing her arm is deformed, so it's simply in a bad place behind her. The closer foot is turned too much and doesn't line up properly with the knee and looks unnatural. I have to say that I love the costume. You've got a knack for drawing the sexy!

Thanks Gary. I always appreciate a good crit from you. I have got to stop overlapping straight objects with curved ones. I made a similar goof on my latest webcomic page. Something to be mindful of in the future. As for the foot, I was sure I constructed that properly; it's meant to be slightly turned to the side to match the overall angle of her body (sort of a 3/4 forward pose)...maybe it's the kneepad causing some sort of visual error. At any rate, I decided to stretch it out somewhat digitally because it's too far gone to change with pencil and eraser alone--that's what I get for shading. Maybe it's a little less distracting now...

I'm no longer resisting it or avoiding it. When a sexy lady wants to come through my pencil, I'm just going to let it come. That's the way it should be! :D

I don't know what you did to the foot, but it looks better. I'm still not sure about it though, but before it looked completely sideways. Now it's reading 3/4 but still a little off. It's a learning experience.
Glad to hear you going with your strengths!
