SBM Doodles by Dualmask SBM Doodles by Dualmask
I've pretty much replaced carrying around physical sketchbooks with doodling on my tablet using Sketchbook Mobile. I'm not one to upload a lot of loose sketch work, but I figured, why not? It's on my Tumblr already, but, eh, now they're here too. Some of these are from reference but most of them aren't.

Would you mind if I used some of these poses for my own practice?

I have Sketchbook mobile as well, it's great.

These are really nice sketches, with lots of character in them. They're all very expressive and powerful. The looseness really helps.

Thanks! I find it to be good practice, especially when art block starts to rear its ugly head.

As silly as it may seem, I hope you don't mind me saving these... =P

Doodling is something I could stand to improve on, if that makes any sense. I know the key is to be loose, but being the control freak of sorts that I am, I'm still uncomfortable in doing so while still feeling that what I'm doing has a purpose behind it. Still, I could always stand to observe more of things like this as a reminder that this is what I need to do more often, in spite of my reservations.

Nice work on these, by the way. Really like the action poses, as well as the layout of all of the sketches in general. :)

If they can be helpful in any way, take them and study to your heart's content. :) Glad you like! It's a lot of fun to do this, and great exercise too.

Thanks. It's fun playing around with poses, testing the limits of how things can be twisted and foreshortened before they start to look unfeasible.

it is fun and superheros are perfect for that with how outrageous they can be sometimes.

Ah, the poses are all so great! If I could start like sketches like those, my work might finally start to improve a little. Great base structures, and wicked-cool layouts, I love these "doodles"!

You can do it. It's easy! Just loosen up and don't worry about making mistakes. None of my work starts out anatomically or proportionately correct in the beginning (and I could stand to get better at making them more correct in the end!) but the point is to start with a line of action to create energetic poses, and then just scribble freely until you get something you like. Heck, even John Buscema advocated scribbling in How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way, which is part of where I derive my construction method from.
