Renard Cross:Beast? Bio by Dualmask Renard Cross:Beast? Bio by Dualmask
Open to suggestions for a change to this guy's call sign. It must be a single word. If anyone can think of a better name for this kind of character than 'Beast', I'm all ears. So far I've considered 'Feral', 'Animal', 'Savage', and even 'Slash', but I'm not sure any of them work.

Two out of three for the WCL's Terran Team... this is one of Renard's teammates.

I've also started a WCL comic today, started drawing redraw art trades and laid flats on my comic book commission. Keeping it moving.

Pretty cool. The closest I have to a Wolverine tempered type is K'alluvia.

Ah yes, K'alluvia. I always figured him as the angry type.

Yeah, he'll fly off the handle at stupid things and attack nearly anybody, but Gilead and Grudge can reign him in.

Renard's just one of those 'say whatever pops in his head' kind of wild guys...no filter. In the arena, that's when he really acts like an animal, but there it works in his favor. He also has a crush on Alexia for a bit of comic relief.

It might be unintentional, or it could be a shout out, be he's got those Timberwolf from the LOSH colors and hair. :)

I dig!

Can't say it's any kind of shout out--I'm not even sure who or what Timberwolf or the LOSH is, but I'm glad you like!

Actually this character's appearance is inspired much more by this Mega Man X4 boss: [link]

Nah. Just the colors brought that to mind. And the claws.

Interesting armor design- it suits his personality well, along with the color scheme. The bestial nature of his inner fury is reflected well in it.

Artwise, it sounds like you're moving along well on your projects.

Thanks! I'm trying. I have a lot going on right now, lots of responsibilities as well as personal things I don't want to procrastinate on for another minute, so I find myself having three or four programs open at once and physical paper projects laid out everywhere. Putting a line here or dropping a color there. It's not good to multitask so much, but it beats sitting around moping trying to decide what to do. I'll get it together eventually...

I like the armor design! And also the color combo, which reminds me of the Top Spin weapon from Megaman 3!

Though, I need to ask, does naming powered armor after a generic type of thing such as "weapon" ever lead to confusion?

Not really; the font I'm using for these bios makes it look off, in the story, WEAPON is an acronym. I could change it, but it's been with me for a long time.

Think the title might be hurting the concept?

War-Equipped Armor for Protection, Offense and Navigation. It was meant to be all-inclusive... ^^;

Sounds "all-inclusive" to me.
Very cool.

Not really, it's just that I keep imagining characters in-fiction getting confused when discussing things when someone is referring to more conventional weapons, such as an artillery emplacement, but then someone else confuses them as referring to the powered armor.

I just wonder if it would cause confusion like that in-fiction, but that would probably be silly.

Well I do admit sometimes I have to pull out the thesaurus from time to time ... using words like 'armaments' and other replacements for 'weapon' at times, but not as often as one might expect.

In fiction, in the time frame of the story, WEAPONs are pretty commonplace, and are pretty much as widespread as guns are in the real world.
