RPB Elissa by Dualmask RPB Elissa by Dualmask
For those who don't know, RPB stands for "Random Practice Babe"...it's when I arbitrarily decide to draw a female pinup for the heck of it (I call it practice, but...drawing this sort of thing isn't much of a challenge for me). In this case, it's not a completely random chick...

I decided to force myself to do some fan art today, as an exercise to get myself to follow through on something I start. Whenever I try to draw fan art, except in rare instances, I lose interest very quickly. So I made myself see this through, even though it's simple.

I referenced a pose I liked and turned it into Empowered, the main character of the graphic novel series of the same name by :iconadamwarren:. Fun character, fun book. (The name of this deviation comes from the fact that Empowered's real name is Elissa Megan Powers.)

I also drew my version of Marvel's Black Widow today, but I screwed up the shading and it's...not fit for public consumption. Stupid me tried to do shading with a colored pencil because I was tired of using my mechanical one...big mistake. But the drawing is still inkable...

Anyway, hope you dig it.

Thanks! One of the things I like about Empowered is that she's meant to be curvy. My kind of dame. :D

It's a good rendition of the character- very much as she looks, but with your own individual style informing it. It's too bad about the other picture, but this one has a good shading style to it.

Thanks! Making the torn-up supersuit work without overdoing it was the hardest part. She's a fun and easy character to draw.

Yeah, her mask actually looks sort of like that (you can see mountains of art of the character in :iconadamwarren:'s gallery). To be honest I've been teetering between cartoon faces and realistic ones for a while now and I'm not quite sure which one I prefer.

I would hit the balance...between them if possible...to make a solid character...instead of the pieced together look..

The face is not matching the body......Great Comic Bod...face just a step into cartoon...( No Offense Buddy! )
that's just how she hit me...Catwoman with Subrena the teen witch touch.

That is true...at first I thought that a smiling shot wouldn't have worked well for the character, never mind one that is saying 'look at mah curves' so blatantly given her self-esteem issues...and then I remembered the whole sexy librarian deal in which she was able to be in sexy character on her own accord just fine, for a while anyway.

I've always liked her since Book 1, a shame I never tried to draw her before now. :)
