Jet Hurt-to-Dead animation by Dualmask Jet Hurt-to-Dead animation by Dualmask
Just testing out a necessary animation for Jet in the game...

Her hair isn't shaded, but it will be in the final version.

I think she should also have a 'face down' , crumple KO, like in some fighting games, to better represent different enemy attacks. Details ;3

My son actually said the same thing, and I've been thinking about it. I already made the end frame (Jet lying face down) but I've been focused on functionality and put animations on the back burner for the moment. I have many animations I want to add, like an idle dance animation and one showing her visibly stressed and weakened when her health is low too.

I like the winded idle stance idea. Various enemies could maybe inflict unique dizzies as well ^^

The hair movement is really good- shaded or not

Thanks a lot! You wouldn't believe what went into making her hair...it's both over-complicated yet very simple...

What sort of techniques did you use for her hair?

I made many, many little Flash objects in various hair shapes and curls all flat colored. This was because I wanted the hair to be the most "alive" part of the sprite, so I wanted the shadows in her hair to be more dynamic. I bunched them together in various ways depending on the animation, then when I exported the sprite, I shaded the hair in Photoshop the same way I color all my art, individually shading every frame of animation as I went along making sprite strips (which is much faster than one would think due to the diminutive size of the sprites). The result was pleasantly surprising.

Thanks for the tips regarding hair design- I'll keep that in mind, and I suspect it has applications beyond just hair.

:D You won't need that! You'll just need a bit more energy...pay $9.99 for 5 more energy or wait 24 hours to play again... ;)

Just kidding. Definitely not making that kind of game.

It could be worse, the ending has three choices and all of them so disappointing that you made a DLC just to improve it! (Mass Effect joke, in case you don't get it)

 Yeah, I never played ME3, but I heard the sad tale of its ending...

Thanks! I've watched it loop many times and I felt proud...and a little morbid. :D
