Getting Some Air by Dualmask Getting Some Air by Dualmask
Practice piece. I took another one of my random "Girlz" drawings and decided to enhance it. The main goal was to practice doing line art in Autodesk Sketchbook on my Surface Pro. Trying to train myself to stop being such a stickler for crispy-smooth line art all the time. I feel like I've been hung up too much on trying to make things "perfect" as far as line quality and smoothness, when sometimes it's those minor "imperfections" that give more life to a drawing.

But since the Surface Pro's pressure sensitive screen and stylus have yet to be compatible with Photoshop, I had to move this to my main PC so I could play around with some coloring ideas and approaches (such as that cloud background, which I had a lot of fun painting).

Anyway, there's not much going on here but I had fun rendering it regardless. Hope you dig.

Ohohoho pun possibly intended.

Nice work, overall. Pose and structure are solid, the inks are nice, but the colors really set this one off. I especially like the skintone shading techniques. Oh, and those clouds look great!

What can I say...the title felt extremely appropriate. ;)

Thanks! I finally took your advice and tried painting clouds...it was definitely as fun and relaxing as you said it would be. And it's great learning new things Photoshop can accomplish even being a 13-year veteran user.

With clouds, I defer to Bob Ross' wisdom:

"This is your cloud, so you put the shadow where you want it. Maybe... maybe this cloud has a little friend."

That must be why they're so much fun.

a "not open for business" tag for her panties could be a good idea

That would imply she's not 'open' for business... ;)

Tried out a little trick I saw on one of :iconrobaato:'s tutorials for the skin. It worked out nicely. :)
