Death is Near by Dualmask Death is Near by Dualmask
Had kind of a crappy day. So I drew an effortless, non-dynamic, but still fun, sketch of my character Christiana to make myself feel better. It worked a little.

It has some dynamism to it, however- the flow of the fabric and the movement of Christiana is well implied by the motion. It's a slower, quieter, but foreboding piece. The scythe design is really interesting.

Thanks! Something about drawing her, with her loose fantasy garb and wild scythe, makes me feel more alive as a penciler, which I guess is somewhat ironic.

If death looks like this I don't wanna live.

Wow now this death is so sweet!! Nothing like letting your negative energy flow into your art in order to produce another piece of pure awesomeness. Death as a woman although sexy but scary at the same time. She reminds of a co-worker of mine who I sometimes dislike but she is sexy none the less. Nice work.

Thanks a lot! A co-worker huh...I wonder how she'd feel about that comparison.

Sometimes non-dynamic can be peaceful. Death doesn't have to be all that scary. ^^

The last thing I needed to do was frustrate myself more by trying to do something "innovative" with this one. Peaceful is the operative word here. It was relaxing to draw this.

I agree that relaxing is necessary sometimes.

Plus, when you have "relaxed" images around your gallery, the dynamic ones look more dynamic

Sorry to hear about your bad day :(

But I like this piece, I love that weapon and I like the way you shaded her costume pieces to make them look shiny!

I just let my negative thoughts overwhelm me sometimes. It gets hard to repress every now and then, and sitting in a miserable office all day doing tepid labor when I wish I could spend more time creating does little to help my mood. But I am over it now... more or less.

I really enjoy penciling like this, but I burn out quickly. I like doing this kind of shading a lot. Glad you like it!

There's just something so engaging about visualizing Death as an incredibly gorgeous--and scantily-clad--female warrior. :D

I started to do that too, but with this character I wanted to focus on Death specifically. It's a cool idea though.

Pencil, actually. HB lead, to be precise. I just added a little bluish tint in Photoshop. Glad you like it! :)
