I guess. The reference I was given had boobs so I went with young woman. Teenager works too.

I like that energetic kick and expression! Fun indeed! The inks are really neat on this picture, especially the heavier work on her supporting leg. Lots of character in the shading, and the strength of the tones.

Thanks! I feel like my drawing has become more energetic since I started using Manga Studio. The lines are the result of none other than MS's Rough Pencil, rather than any inking.

Nice, man. Also, I was wondering, what do you think MS has to offer which is better than what PS has to offer?

In my opinion, the main advantage of Manga Studio is its brush engine. It makes digital drawing feel as tight as the real thing, well, as close as you can get. I haven't used any version of PS beyond CS4 so I don't know how far its come--for all I know PS may be able to do all of this and more by now--but I like the numerous sub-tools in MS, especially its rulers (like its symmetry, perspective and parallel lines rulers). It's also cool that it has a whole 3D model engine within the software you can use for posing figures for reference, and you can even import your own models. It doesn't hurt that MS has a whole vector drawing mode (using the same brushes as raster mode) that's just a click away, and you're able to manipulate control points from the strokes of virtually any brush you draw with. I even managed to find ways to cel shade much faster in MS than I did in Photoshop thanks to its Fill Lasso tool. But what I really enjoy about MS are the little things.

For example, if you do multiple strokes in PS with a drawing tool, every single stroke is added as a step in your history palette, but in MS, they're added in groups, so you can hit undo once and undo like eight strokes if you want. When you make a selection in MS (lasso, marquee, whatever), a little menu pops up next to the selection that gives you access to several common options like deselect, transform, expand/reduce/invert selection, etc. You can even undo within your transform window, so say if you're transforming something and you stretch it out beyond its aspect ratio...no need to start over because the transform tool gets its own internal history palette you can undo from step by step.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, to me, MS can do pretty much everything I do in PS, and more, and it's more user-friendly. I still use Photoshop for other things like glow effects and my sprite work, but for drawing and basic coloring, Manga Studio is tops for me right now.

Maan, these thigs sound really fantastic! I didn't know about the grouped history and the history of the free transform. That free transform history sounds so nice, since I've only used PS. This is really helpful to read and I appreciate it, I'm thinking I want to pick myself up a copy next time I go software shopping! And btw, you should get some kind of sponsorship from them for all this, haha.

I wish! :D But yeah, definitely pick up Manga Studio. It's a steal compared to Photoshop and worth more than the cost.
