I love the writing here. It's both wise and emotional. That is writing at its purest. It not only helps you understand, but it touches your soul.
To hear the dragon tell Spike this story, about how the mother saved her egg at the cost of her life, and how she lived on in the Crystal Heart. It was very moving, dSana. Has it been sitting in your imagination for a long time?
Very good use of black and white to tell this story. I can practically feel the frigid wind blowing across the page.
As for the alicorns at the end. . . . It's hard to know whether to approve of their actions or not. But then . . . would Twilight and Spike have grown so close otherwise? We may never know, and that may very well be the point.
Imperial powers are all the same in the end. They take things. And they say it's because they need them for strategic reasons, or because only they are fit to take care of those things, or because they deserve them. And probably they believe what they say. But in the end, they just do it because they can.
