If Thomas breaks one more thing, he is goin' out, O-W-T, out! This is the plot of the cartoon that started it all back in 1940 titled as “Puss Gets the Boot”, where Mammy Two Shoes warns Tom (starred as Jasper) that if he does that, she will kick him out as she spells it, and Jerry (still a nameless little rodent; otherwise starred as Jinx), deciding to help his archnemesis out the door before struts into a mousehole adorned with the sign that says “home sweet home” at the end, goes for broke, tossing cocktail glasses and dishes with glee, while hapless Tom does his best juggling.

I know I commented on this one, but there's something else I wanted to say. The way Jerry fights Tom reminds me of the way Mario fights Bowser. Both are too small to win a fight against their bigger, tougher rivals thus they usually have to rely on their brains rather than their brawns in order to out smart them and find a weak point. I mean, technically Mario has beaten Bowser in a fair fight before, but more often than not, he relies on his environment and strategies to find a way to make Bowser vulnerable, similar to what Jerry does to Tom. Also, both rivals occasionally tend to work together when they have to face a larger threat. It's a similarity I saw between the two duos after some time. I find it to be cool in a way.

Dang, I can’t believe it’s been 80 years...
Gets me nostalgic of when I was younger watching on Boomerang on the weekends. Happy belated anniversary to the dynamic duo!

Wow, this totally reminds me. Tom and Jerry's debut 'Puss Gets the Boot' came out this very month 80 years ago! Thanks for reminding me with this little piece, DrQuack! This duo also partly shaped my childhood as well! And that's saying a lot, considering the large number of cartoons I grew up watching! ^^

Oh yeah, I can imagine Tom & Jerry left such an impact on a lot of childhoods! :aww: It's kind of a special little thing, really! :D
GerryAAB's avatar
Looney Tunes has clearly had the same impact too! And both that and T&J are Warner Bros. properties (Tom and Jerry has been since Warner acquired Turner Entertainment during the 90s)!

Oh yeah, LT was a big part as well! :aww: That and also SpongeBob and VeggieTales for me! X3

I see. Y'know what, I may as well list some more cartoon influences of mine: Disney, Looney Tunes, Sonic, Mario, Ratchet & Clank, Don Bluth, Pixar, Blue Sky, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter (I've always been more into PlayStation than Nintendo, honestly, but I still enjoy the latter as much), Kingdom Hearts, and Pokemon, just to name a few. :D

Dang, I wasn't even counting video games! X) But I might as well do the same. X3
Rest of mine are Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong, Waro, the Iron Giant, Camp Lazlo, and that's all I can currently think of. XD

Wow! :0 I can see this is the first time you drew these two. You did perfect! :D They look just like from the cartoons!
Also, I noticed the small TNT dynamites they're hiding. Classic slapstick comedy. :XD: Seriously, you made it look so authentic, man! :) Reminds me of some official artwork where they were shaking hands and hiding explosives. x)
All in all this is a fantastic tribute to a fantastic cat-and-mouse duo! :squee:
