Well tourist season is coming to an end here. School is arround the cornor. This means for me life is going to slow down to the point where i can focus on my art work again.

Although i do enjoy the tourists and working almost 24/7 (yes i am kidding) I am excited to get back to my art work.

Finally got Ubuntu to work on my new laptop so once again i can go full open source. It was kinda weird running windows again. I am not going to get into the whole which is better debate, but i will state Ubuntu is more for me than windows is.

However the draw back is still there that my tablet will not work in ubuntu so i figure i will keep windows so i can still use the tablet. Hopefully some day they will get my tablet working in linux it would be nice.

I got back into guild wars. I play Prophices, Factions and Night Falls. If any of you play Guild Wars and want to group up some time drop me a line and we can run around.

Yikes a new year

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 8, 2008, 12:20 AM

Hello all

Well i have not updated this thing in forever. I have been swamped with my real life. I am trying to find the time to create some artwork, but every time i sit down it seems i have to run off. Thus is life.

I hope every one had a great new year and a very merry Christmas. The holidays were great for my children and I.

I am hoping to get back into my art and back into Gimping. I do miss it greatly and hope i can find some time to post some work here.

Untill next time peace and good will to all.

Gimp Brushs

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 4, 2007, 8:05 AM

Hello all.

Well the new gimp is out and boy is it awesome. So many new features and so many old features being revamped.

By now any fan of the gimp has downloaded and used ver 2.4. If you haven't i suggest getting it ASAP. It is fantastic!

To me one of the biggest new features that works and works nicely is the ability to load ABR brush packs directly into your brushes folder and use them. In fact you can even rescale them (as well as default gbr brushes) dynamically. This is a great feature and one i have been waiting for in Gimp for some time.

The sad part of this is the fact i will no longer be converting brushes. There really is no need to. If by some weird chance the ABR file does not work than maybe i will convert it, but i have tested over 150 ABR set so far and every single one has worked.

By December 1st all the set i have converted will be removed. I am going to make a journal post containing all the authors and brush set information so you can go about downloading the ABR files.

Many Thanks

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 29, 2007, 10:29 PM

I would like to start this journal by saying thank you to every one who has :+fav:'d or add me to their watch list. I know this is kinda lame but i just do not have the time to thank each of you. I am sorry!

I am finding life as a single father of two to be very time consuming. It is rewarding as ever but i just do not have the time I used to have. I am hopping to work every thing out to where i can do more art work but in my life family is always first.

It also doesn't help that i got season One of Heroes on DVD for my birthday. I am trying to watch them all but progressing slowly. G4 had a marathon this weekend and i got to catch a few shows i missed during the first run.

I have also gotten back into Mudding. If you do not know what a mud is well than you should google it... they are a hoot. Currently i am just messing around with code and area building for fun. My other adiction always get me.

I am working more with Gimp and Apop in my free time. I am hoping to write up a few tutorials for some stuff i am doing.

So once again thank you for your support

Apologie to DA Staff....

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 9, 2007, 3:26 PM

Well today i did get word from the staff here at DA regarding the case i turned over to them. In my own frustration and anger over how the user in question was treating me i did make some pretty rude and hostile comments directed at the staff here at DA. That was wrong of me and I do apologize for it.

I do reilize that running a website such as DA can and is a lot of work. I am sorry i directed my anger your way. How ever I do not see my position as totaly misplaced. I could have and should have responded to the situation with  less anger and if it ever happens again I will.

The plus side to all of this is One i learned a lesson which is always good and another ripper has been taken care of here at DA. Not that i think we have seen the last of her, but at least in my mind the correct action was taken.

So i do thank the Staff of DA for doing what they did.

As far as me leaving DA. I have not totally decided what course of action i will take yet. I am however moving all the converted brush set over to a different DA group. I will also be moving my brush set or the ones i created to the GimpDome DA group account

Most of my other deviations and prints will be removed and reworked with watermarks and some personal protection. Once i finish all of that i may or may not keep adding to my gallery here.

Stop a Ripper At DA!!

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 8, 2007, 12:03 PM

I hope fence forgives me for this but i do need to address a subject that is important.

Please if you have not read it check out my jounral that pays homoage to him.…

Ok now on to the business at hand.

On Friday i received a message from a close friend in regards to a user here at DA posting two tutorials that i had written on her DA account. After looking into it myself i saw this woman had posted multipal tutorials from a forum i run. All of which were not her right to post to DA.

For one DA is not a file sharing network and for two it is clearly stated not to repost these any where with out my permission.

There were in each gallery submission a link back to the forum that i run. The links she provided are to three different sites and the one she did post back to my site is not even connected to the tutorials she took.

There is no mention of me being the one who created it other than what is on each of the image tutorials. All she posted was she did not create them and the may have come from one of these three sites.

This can not even be seen as giving fair credit for the work i did and posted.

On friday i made three posts one to each of the tutorials and one to her main site. I also reported each of the tutorials to the DA staff with a simple explanation of what was going on.

Saturday i rechecked her account and my tutorials are still posted in her gallery.Sunday I received a note from her that read

"cry baby ass bitch".

So i am a cry baby for defending my rights and my work.

I turned her over to the DA staff once again for harassment. I do not see why it is right for her to post my work than insult me for defending it. I in turn responded to her note to me.

My reply:
"That is totally uncalled for.

You are in the wrong here and you were in the wrong the moment you posted My tutorials in your DA gallery.

You never asked me to do what you did. They are not public property and with that said you do not have the right to post them to your gallery. The fact is you could have simply removed them from your gallery, but you are choosing to be vulgar and rude. The even more simpler fact is you could have asked to post them to begin with.

Your note shows your complete lack of respect for other peoples hard work. It also shows your ignorance.

So in the end you can call me all the names you want At least i respect others and respect other peoples work. You are just a ripper and will always be a ripper and like most at DA i have little to no respect for a thief."

Now this morning i check my tutorials are still posted in her gallery and her account is still active and to top it off i get yet one more note from her.

"I don't give a shit i was going to delete them any way so i can free up some damn room on my PC. It's not that serious and for your info i did post a link to the site. I was not going to keep them up that long."

Not that serious so i guess stealing is not to serious these days. I am starting to see the staff here at DA feels the same way she does as they have not taken any action. This is total BS.

Why should i be harassed and have to go to the point of posting this journal to see any thing done (if anything is done). So this is pretty much the point of all of this. This is pretty much the final straw with DA and the jerks that inhabit it.

I am not saying all users here are jerks. I have met a lot of great and freindly people. Not enought to make me want to stay and put up with this crap.

Since the staff here at DA doesn't want to do anything about this matter.

In fact i am seeing they are happy to take my money for the subscription i bought but don't want to do anything to uphold their own rules that they expect every one else to follow. I will be shutting my account down in the next few days.

All my brushes and resources for Apop and Gimp will be moved to a different place on the net.

It has been a good few years PEACE!!!

For A Friend II

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 6, 2007, 9:39 PM

Well to contiue down the path of paying homage to those that I consider friends my next deadication goes out to one of the best Gimpers around.

This mans tutorials where instramental in my learning Gimp. Back in the day when i hung out at GimpTalk alot i would find myself just waiting to read his tutorials. I would also feel a weird sence of glee when he posted a new one.

His great tutorials inspired me to write the first tutorials i wrote for gimp. The way he shared his knowledge of Gimp freely and asked for nothing but credit in return really turned me on to the Open Source ideals.

When he came to GimpDome and also became a member of the staff i felt a great sense of honor that he would be willing to work with me on the Dome.

So:iconfence-post: - fence-post This journal is for you man.

What can i say about Fence. He is one of the greatest people i have ever had the honor of meeting on the net. His tireless and selflessness in posting tutorials for all Gimp users is extrodanary.

He has worked hard for all of us that love gimp. Not only posting tutorials but he was the first to convert PhotoShop brushes to Gimp format. He taught me how to do it and encouraged me when i was working on them.

His opinion and criticisms are always honest and helpful. He honestly put forth the effort to help those that need help. Although he has in more than one circumstance been taken advantage of by rippers he still pushes forward.

Fence is a wonderful friend and has been there to bring my spirits up more than once. His words and prayers for me and my children have helped in my personal life more than he knows.

Although i have featured four of his pieces please check out his gallery. You will find some of the best tutorials for gimp around.

For a friend

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 18, 2007, 10:49 PM

The next few journals are dedicated all my closest friends!! :)

These people have helped me deal with a tremendous amount in my personal life and now that i am seeing the light at the end of this long long tunnel I believe not only have they earned my undieing respect and a life long friend.

I am going to pay homage to their friendship and their selfless act of just listening and reminding me to keep the faith when it was beyond my sight.

With all the love i can show Thank you guys and i mean that from the bottom of my heart.

First i would like to thank LDS-Jedi

What can i say man you have helped me through the roughest of the rough. You are a true inspiration. Your faith and determination to help a fellow person is awesome. You may or may not know this but you have shown me the way back to the light more than once.

Not only is he a great person to help out but he has gone above and beyond the call of duty at GimpDome more than once. A truly talented person with one of the greatest eyes for art and creativity in any person i have ever met both in the real world and on the net.

constantly push both himself and me to a new level in creativity and expression and always there to give a complement and give excellent criticism that focuses in on what he sees.

Thank you man from the bottom of my heart!

If any of you reading this have never checked out his work please stop by his DA page and have a look. He is truly talented.

Little Slumpish

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 6, 2007, 3:24 PM

Seems to be the time of year. I am feeling pretty slumpish don't know if it is the change of seasons or just me.......

Finaly got Gimp 2.4rc2 installed and running. All i can say is wow there are some great aditions to the program. I have little in the way of complaints when it comes to the new Gimp, but my cheif complaint would be the horrid icons.

I know people like the tangoish looking icons. Seems like Linux people really like them as i see them creeping into more and more programs. Well i am sorry to say I am not a fan of the new icons the Gimp team has decided to use. I prefer th old ones, but that is just a minor problem in the larger scheme of things.

Gimp 2.4 itself is fantastic. Using it is some what of a dream.

I will be posting some new Fractals here in the coming weeks. I got Apophysis 2.06 running in linux now under wine. For the most part I am pleased, but can't seem to get any of the plugins to work. I don't know if it is a linux thing or i am just using them wrong. Oh well i will work with what i got.

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 16, 2007, 2:55 PM
Well hello all. I am back from the depths of living life. Sorry i know i have not posted any thing to this journal in a while. Life has just gotten in the way of internet these days.

Well i have made the move to Ubuntu Linux. Windows no longer inhabits my machine. It has taken some time to get used to and I am more than happy with it as a OS. IT has some excellent features and easier to use than the last time i had Ubuntu.

I am really excited at getting to try all the Gimp plug-ins i could never get for windows.

Got Apophysis 2.06 and have it working under wine. I have yet to really give it a a good run but I am sure it will be great.

So there is my little up date.

Ripped Art Task Force - Stamp by droz928 RATF-SILVER STOP by RippedArtTaskForce

First i want to say thank you Deb for you continuing efforts to stop or at lest minimize the rippers here at DA. I will support you and your cause as much as i can.

Please check out Deb's DA site:

Now the story of!!!

Well yesterday I am checking my messages and lo and behold there is a journal entry from  DWALKER1047. You see i have been following Deb for a while now not only for her journals, but because of her gallery. She is an inspiration to me. She creates such lovely fractals and they are so nice to see.

I have been following her journals for the last few months because some inconsiderate person has decided to rip her work and sell it. I deplore rippers. They are rude and to be frank nothing but common thieves.

The journal entry I saw from her was about a website that was jacking DA work and giving it away for free. Nothing new...some jerk thinking he/she can just use other to do what they want. So deb had a list of artist in her journal that they thought or were pretty sure this person had ripped from.

There it was my name. My first reaction was well what piece did they take. My second reaction was OMG the scumbags. I do not care what they stole...fact is they stole it. Sad thing is this is not the first time it has happened to me.

When i clicked the link the site was down. Which i knew was going to happen because Deb's journal had said they shut this person down. Oh well at least my work is no longer up there. It still upset me because i do put a lot of time and effort into my work.

It also got me thinking what if the piece they stole was a print now i am losing possible money from their actions, but i am not the only one loosing money DA is to because they get a certain amount from the sale as well.

The thing that upsets me the most is I am a layed back person and pretty easy going. I do not get offended easily, but i am now. What offends me the most is they could have easily just ask me permission to use the piece. I most likely would have agreed to it. To me it is getting my name out there and allowing others to see my work, but there was never any note here at DA or an email asking me to use the piece.

So this morning i wake up check my messages and low and behold a new article from Deb. This one was all about the site in question.

Wow after reading the article i was blown away. The person admitted to stealing 8,000 images from DA. They have id 59 artists and their work and at least 200 more that they knew pieces came from however the site was taken down before they could be id.

To me that is insane, but what is more insane is the lack of effort that the DA staff is putting into to stop this or at least help the artists stop it. I am not going to get to angry at DA for their lack of support when it comes to these matters, but it would be nice if they would help their customers enforce their rights.

Even more insane is to see some of the DA users comments to these thefts and past heists. Telling artists who are upset about their work getting stolen they should chill or it was their own fault or the worst excuse of all well it is the internet it comes with the territory.

All i can say to you fools is wake up. It is not the victims fault that the user abused and used them. Stealing is a form of abuse. IT is a common ploy of the abuser to blame their actions on their victims. So do not support abusers. Do not give them the ammo to do it again.

If i came to your house and broke the window out of your car and hot wired it and stole it you would be more than upset. I bet you would be hopping mad and you would want to see justice done. Now imagine being in court and the Judge looks at you and says well i am letting him go because it was your fault for leaving your car out...or leaving it where he could get it. Next time spray paint your name all over it in bright yellow paint. That will deture him and others from stealing your car again.

Do not dog Deb or any others who are try to fight the good fight. You should grant your support to her and her cause. It is a cause that effects all of us. Think about it this way you may be next. It may or may not matter to you, but if it does wouldn't be nice to have a person or group of people backing you up when no one else will.

Do not depend on DA to back you up. I am sorry to say this it is not going to happen. They have shown this more than once. Which is fine! It now becomes the artists responsibility to defend themselves and their constituents.

I would like to thank Deb for her hard work in tracking and keeping track of these thieves. It is a great service to all of us.

Tragity becomes creation

Journal Entry: Fri May 11, 2007, 9:51 PM
Well my life is full of twists and turns.....

Ups and downs.......

In the end though I can say i have learned a lot. Some from people i have come to know. Some knowlage has been passed on from my own oops's and woots.

The one thing on this day i want to share with every one (psst if you are not religious turn your head) you are not alone. You may not see the path or even understand the path that the lord has laid before you, but it is there. It is your choice to follow it or not.

I know for many years i ignored it and got no where, but more depressed.

So this journal is decicated to the one true artiest, the first and the greatest.....

Thank you lord for all you have given all of us.

I would also like to say peace to all of you who read this!
I pray you are living life to its fullest and enjoying the greatest gift ever given to you!

The software and nasty little glitch monsters may have won this round but i have backups and 12 more rounds in me. So do not fear fellow domers we will be back to fight again.

IN the end though there is just not enuff time in one day to get everything done. I was up alnite last nite trying to fix the problems we were experianceing only to have to cave in on me again, but never fear I never give up.

I shall try to keep you all updated on its return. Untill than i thank each of you for your support and hope to see you all back at the dome.

Moving Brushes

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 9, 2007, 5:06 PM

The time has come to move the brushes i have converted to the Project Gimp BC community page here on DA. I am hoping by the end of the month to have moved all 100+ sets to the project page.

I will also be uploading the last of my converts. I will not be converting and posting the sets any more. I may do some sets upon request.

It is time to pass the torch to some one else who has the time to contiune this great project.

All the information is at Project-GimpBC for users to convert what ever set they want.

I just don't have the time any more to convert and post the sets. With a new baby, school and work I have very little tiem to even work on my own art projects.

It has been loads of fun and a great learning experience.
