Yggdrasil Trio

The Yggdrasil Trio consists of Nidhogg, Vedrfolnir, and Ratatoskr. The three of them were created by Khaos to tend to Yggdrasil, and to keep the Titan, Atlas company after he was cursed to hold Yggdrasil on his back for eternity. Vedrfolnir sits between the eyes of an inanimate and unnamed Eagle that rests on top of Yggdrasil. Its duty is to trim the upper branches of the World Tree, and to oversee the Higher Realms in its branches. Nidhogg weaves between the roots, trimming them by gnawing at them, and oversees the Realms of Death. Ratatoskr runs along the body of the World Tree, delivering news and messages to and between Nidhogg and Vedrfolnir, while also keeping an eye on Midgard.
