The Woman in Black

Probably as close as I am ever likely to get to doing a dark piece!

The Woman in Black is a 1983 horror novella by Susan Hill written in the style of a traditional Gothic novel. The plot is set in a small English town haunted by a woman in black whose appearance heralds the imminent death of a child. A television film based on the story was produced in 1989 and in 2012 the (rather mediocre) movie version was released. The stageplay is the second longest-running play in the history of the West End after The Mousetrap.
