SUPERBOY 47 Pg 21 Green Lantern (Kyle) X-Over SOLD by DRHazlewood SUPERBOY 47 Pg 21 Green Lantern (Kyle) X-Over SOLD by DRHazlewood
I really enjoyed inking Georges Jeanty on SUPERBOY. This is scanned from a reduced copy since the original was sold long ago. The scan of the copy doesn't do it justice. It was fun inking such stylized pencils. SOLD

I like the piece, but I'm unfamiliar with this penciler's work. What do you mean by "stylized pencils"?

He doesn't have a generic super-hero style. It's more style-driven without trying to ape a Jim Lee or McFarlane Image-y style. Some inkers who have an inherent style can overwhelm pencillers and sometimes that can be good if they are weaker pencillers. Like whne they would have Wally Wood or Jerry Ordway ink some more generic pencillers. It usually ended up looking more like their style.

I am usually fairly faithful to the pencils and it is fun when pencillers have a bolder style. When deadlines were looming sometimes the pencils would get more cartoon-y or more simpflifed. Sometimes the color really helps the art and his style was so bold some things really looked powerful in B&W. Some of my early inks (fan work) have BIG thick outlines. In hindsight some are ridiculously thick, but for some reason they looked good to me back then.
