-Rize doesn't remember much of his early life, nor does he remember his mother. He's only ever known his older brother Kuro as his caretaker, who's always dodged answering questions about their parents. The duo never seemed to stay in one place, occasionally stopping to eat and sleep, but other than that they were always on the move. During a particularly rough storm, the two shinx stopped to take shelter near some fence posts, though they did little protect them from the elements. Not far from them, they noticed a human, a trainer at that, herding his pokemon into his little home so they could sit out the storm. Rize and Kuro went unnoticed by the trainer at first, that is until a poocheyna sniffed them out, approaching the two only to have Kuro swipe at her. The poocheyna began to bark and growl, catching the attention of her trainer. The trainer approached the soaked lynxes, kneeling down and trying to coax them out, offering to let them stay inside until the storm passed. Kuro grew defensive, but he was surprised to see Rize approach the trainer fearlessly. Though hesitant, Kuro joined his younger brother and the two waited out the storm with Fawn's other pokemon, being given food to eat, beds to rest in and a fire to warm up next to. During this time, Rize made friends with the other pokemon and begged Kuro to let them stay. Reluctantly so, the older shinx agreed to stay.
