Alex paced her living room, fraught with a cross of nerves and anger. Worry was setting in.
"It's one in the morning, Carol. Gina should've been home two hours ago!"
Carol watched her plainly from the old, worn couch. "You shouldn't worry so much, Al. Gina is a mature, responsible young woman. She can take care of herself. I'm sure she's fine."
Alex crossed her arms, unconvinced. The phone rang. Alex turned to answer it. When she hung up, her face was mixed with emotion.
"What's the matter?"
Alex grabbed her coat, her hands shaking. "That was the hospital. My MATURE, responsible sister was just hit by a drunk driver while joy riding."
