Well... to be brutally honest, on closer inspection it's a good reflection of some of the so-called 'art' that some post on this site. Recoloured characters that are passed off as original, and stuff that, to quote a Tumblr post, "looks like it was drawn in MS paint in 5 minutes."
Looking at it like that, it's fitting in a disappointing sort of way.
Really got surprised by that, really daring from other logos I say, and also going for other near-high contrast colors other sites are going for, and "diagonals", seems it's the uprising trend alongside Google's material design. if you see close and compare the previous one (and look the video on the journal) you can see "dA" Design has a purpose I see, next thing we might see is the whole layout change...
it would really fit better if it was the sub color it kinda contrast a little too much like i can see an imaginary white outline on the logo and that only happens to me when the colors are too contrasting
also having a subtle animation when you hover the mouse on the logo would be nice
