What is Draw a Centaur Day?
Pretty much what is says on the tin: a day, once a year on April 16th, where you draw a centaur. That's all!
Seriously, it's a very un-serious, commitment-light art challenge. Centaurs are awesome. They've got a crazy improbable anatomy that's open to a lot of interpretation, so it's an opportunity for artists to stretch their skills and have fun. I started Draw a Centaur Day on FA several years ago, and I'm proud to see how it's gained traction over time.
What if I can't draw?
Write a story, sculpt, sew, knit, do an interpretive dance, compose a rock ballad . . . as long as it's centaur related. The only rule is that it has to be your own creation - no screencaps or other forms of theft.
Do they have to be classic (human from crown to waist, joined to a horse where the neck should be) centaurs?
Nope! We've had everything from spider-taurs to turnip-taurs, and of course every year there's the usually a couple of reverse-centaurs.
Is fan art OK?
Yep, bring it on!
Is X-rated art OK?
As long as it's properly tagged.
Do you have centaur OCS?
Several, but you don't have to draw them to participate - this isn't a scam to get free art, except in the sense that I like centaur art in general.
I don't have time to draw on the 16th!
There's no penalty for being a bit late. Or a bit early.
