Pre-PAIR for trouble.

AND MAKE IT DOUBLE.

RESULTS:

Home Grown Show III - Combo Nation

It takes two to tango, two to make a pair, two to share, and- you get the idea. Welcome to the next phase of the Home Grown Show, where you bring the show to your squad, wherever you choose to host your competitors! For this round we’re looking to make friends, maybe create enemies, share the ring, and show us your teams of two!

Every class is a Paired class!

What’s a pair?

TWO horse and rider "combos” performing the same discipline together (in harmony or chaos):

Pair = Combo A + Combo B

Combo A = Horse A + Person A

Combo B = Horse B + Person B

*for non-rider classes:
Pair = Horse A + Horse B

Examples

No third wheels allowed for this one (although, they are more than welcome to loom in the background and watch the spectacular~)

Overall idea here: Grab a couple of characters and their ponies and have them perform a discipline of their choice. All classes will be done in pairs and in tandem (together, not one at a time) so think: pairs jumping, pas de deaux, pairs reining, endurance together, vaulting performances, team driving (in one or two carts, your choice), team penning/sorting, etc.

  • Collabs are accepted (but not all of us have friends, so it’s not a requirement and is not any kind of bonus - let’s just have fun!)

1

(until it stops being the 26th all around the world.)

Basic Rules for Fair and Fun:

Art:

  • Art must be original for this show and not re-used art

  • No premade lines/bases/backgrounds, etc.

  • Collabs are totally accepted and prizes will be duplicated (only two partners per collab because I’m not going to be able triple prizes :’’D )

  • All art mediums welcome; give credit where credit due i.e. stock, resources, etc. This excludes:

  • Literature-only: I don't have a fair literature-only judging system set up. : (

Characters:

  • All breeds of equine are welcome (fantasy and realistic)

  • Any magic abilities can totally be used (it will not necessarily boost your score unless it's used in a manner that enhances the piece)

  • Location/Weather/Time of day: All your choice!

  • All ages (horse and rider) are welcome, I just ask you to be sensible.

  • Attire: Casual to formal. Your choice. Even costumes are welcome!  (peanut butter and jelly, salt to pepper, yin and yang, let's go~)

  • Helmets/protective gear are not mandatory but strongly recommended for young/inexperienced riders and high-octane disciplines.

  • No bans on tack, just be sensible.

  • Boo-boos and whoopsies are totally acceptable (no permanent injury or loss of life because that's not the spirit of fun here)

Entries:

  • You may enter any division several times so long as the equine/equestrian pairs are different per entry

  • Example: Combo A + Combo B may enter all divisions once. Rider A can pick another horse and that would become Combo C (different pairing) and can enter all divisions once.

  • Further example: Fred and Jim can ride together in Showjumping (English Division) on their horses. They can ride those same horses into Western Pleasure (Western Division). However, if Fred and Jim also want to ride together in Dressage (English Division) they'll both need to pick different horses to form different combos.

  • Only one pair of combos can be featured in a piece at a time. (No four-person entries, etc.) This helps to make it clear which two are doing the show together as a pairing~ Of course, audience and onlookers totally welcome!

(Any more questions, feel free to ask in the comments or shoot me a message.)

2

Each of these divisions will start off vague and may be split into more specific divisions if there are high quantities of entries in a specific division. For instance, if there are 10 entries in the English Division, it may be split into, for example, Showjumping and Dressage so we don't make the judge cry and you can all have shiny ribbons <3

Feather English Disciplines

-For all your English Discipline needs: Showjumping, Dressage, Hunter, Cross Country, etc.

Feather Western Disciplines

-For the Yees and Haws: penning, cutting, sorting, reining, western pleasure, trail class, mounted shooting(oh my, be careful), western dressage, etc.

Feather Other Disciplines

-This is for disciplines such as Endurance, Driving, Vaulting, Obstacle Course, Racing, Mounted Archery, etc. that have a special set of tack/equipment that don’t really fit into the prior categories. Ask if you’re unsure which division yours would go into and we can work it out!

Feather Combined Disciplines

-For those that want to pair up but aren’t willing to compromise on a discipline: “No, I don’t ride western. No, I won’t ride English. Jumping is better than dressage, we do jumping. No, dressage is supreme.” Settle your differences here and let them battle it out! (must be two different disciplines: jumping/dressage, reining/dressage, pleasure/hunt seat, cutting/roping, etc.)

  • Please note that the combos should be equal as in no liberty/dressage where one combo doesn't have a rider and the other does.

Feather Equine-Only Disciplines

-This division is for the equine-only disciplines such as Liberty displays, Agility acts, or a talent showcase that just features the equines (no handlers/riders allowed).

F2U BULLET | Black Feather 1 Exhibition Execution

-This class is solely for the judge to enter and play along. Entries will be judged and awarded ribbons. All other prizes are exempt. @Drasayer just wants to come play too  This does include anyone that Drasayer collabs with because Dras loves all her friends and won’t be asked to pick one over the other in terms of judging~ <3

This is a Subjective RNG System.

Meaning that more effort will gain you a better chance of a better placement from the RNG.

FOR A FULL EXPLANATION OF THIS SYSTEM SEE HERE: Subjective RNG Rubric

There will be seven criteria your piece will be scored on and will correlate to a range of RNG'd scores.

  1. Amount of horse/*riders depicted (*riders are only accounted for in mounted classes)

  2. Shading

  3. Background

  4. Story - please write a story so I don't have to dock these easy points :''D

  5. Accuracy of the Show Theme

  6. Creativity

  7. Execution of Technique

So what is your judge looking for?

@@Drasayer - I want to see your characters interact! Let harmony or chaos ensue! Maybe one of them has a crush on the other - this is the perfect opportunity to get to hang out! Maybe they absolutely despise each other and they were forced to be nice and get through this together. Maybe they are super awesome riders with amazing horses and they need to showcase their talent! Do they have cool magic abilities to perform some majestic feat!? I want to see personalities; good, bad, beautiful, ugly!

Accuracy of the theme: Two ponies (and probably two people) - let’s rock and roll! They should be aiming to create a performance of some kind! So just a combo doing some jumping on one end of the arena and another working on some reining in the other end of the arena - eeeeh, not gonna score so high on the vibes. Bring them TOGETHER!

Creativity: I love a good synchronized performance but if you know me, a touch of insanity is the makings of some memorable performances! I just want you to have some fun (and maybe bring a friend along if you’re lucky to have one <3 ) I want to see what you come up with when you throw together personalities and performances!

Ribbons Galore

THERE'S MORE!

This show will be rewarding bonus prizes for special categories that will have nothing to do with how your entry scores! This is based purely on the judge's ( @@Drasayer ) opinion on which entry best suits the category! Here they are:

  1. Double Trouble - This pair is a ticking time bomb for disaster. Insurance agencies are holding their breath when they take the stage because something is about to bring the roof down, it’s only a matter of time.

  2. Dream Team - For the pair that demonstrates cohesion and teamwork. They all work well together, overcome adversity together, and both accentuate each other’s strong suits. This pair really vibes together!

  3. Outreach Teach - An experienced member helped out their less experienced teammate! That could be from instructor to student or just Old Hand Joe helping the new kid get their feet wet.

  4. Friends to the End - For the pair that showed up for fun and games! Winning is okay but they’re just happy to have each other! They get to take home a memento of the occasion: a photograph of their experience to treasure forever! (your piece will be replicated in a simplified, cartoon manner. Elements will be simplified but colors/poses and vibe will remain the same. ***Please, if you’re not comfortable with your piece being referenced for this award, state that in your submission comment!)

*All of these prizes are customizable to fit your characters! Hair, mane, accessories, etc. (Winged equine - you might just get an interpretation of wings, apologies <''3)
