     The stable still "needed" able-bodied and willing competitors to rake in the earnings and drive the brand forward. "Needed" was a strong word. RidgeRunner Stables was not in any financial crisis and would see another day with or without Taysom. But with renovations under way on the West Branch's castle, Jennie was pushing the incentives for her riders to get out and accomplish some work. Incentives that unlocked a whole new path for Taysom and his unyielding willingness.

     "Bro, you are the living embodiment of some kind of rainbow sherbet, my man," Taysom had to take a step back and really get a good look at the stud. Aquas, blues, purples, pinks, reds; this dude was a few shades shy of a bag of skittles. Beaurevers were nothing new to Taysom's repertoire; he had two of his own now and he had ridden many of them already. They were solid horses with a variety of personality and looks. But he hadn't gotten to touch the "extra specials" yet. 

     He had been working his way up to this point in hopes one day he'd be trusted with the potential of Beaurevers. Evidentially along came some of them that came with a little extra spice to them. Not the kind that would leave someone dead in their wake but the kind that called for a rider that had the awareness to handle it. This stallion, in particular, was blossoming into such said extra potential and had found an extra gear while mowing through a cross country course. Veni wasn't just fast on his feet - he was going to unlock a whole new meaning of ZOOM.

     Taysom had to take a breath to calm his nerves before he got on this horse. This was, in a sense, a trial of sorts to see if he could handle a Beaurever's extra something special or if he'd be better off on the plainer or the Janes, so to speak. Getting all revved up and excited now wasn't going to improve his chances of handling a stallion already known for having a hair trigger on the course.

     "Oohohooooo, you are ready to rip and roll!" Taysom laughed, gathering up the reins and collecting Veni up. Veni stomped at the ground and chomped on his bit, swishing his tail. A butt was in the saddle and that meant time to go. He snorted several times, bobbing his head and only just being obedient enough to walk around in tight circles while his ears flipped every which way, looking for any indication it was time to take off. He was a smart horse, he knew the smell of competition in the air. The sights, sounds, and smells of other amped up horses, the nerves rolling off the other humans, the thundering hooves in the distance. He snorted loudly again, giving a loud call to let others know he was there and ready too.

     If there was a time Taysom should reconsider his life choices, now was the time. But the inner competitor in him wouldn't let him even consider. This is a rare opportunity that not many would have the chance to even be considered for. Even if this was the one and only shot he got; he'd never live it down if he just changed his mind now. He had a small taste of it in practice back at home but he could tell there was a stark difference in Veni's carriage now that he was surrounded by competition.

     Brothers in arms. That's how Taysom chose to frame his mindset. It wasn't "dear God, hold on for your life!". It was "let's get this bread, brother." Team effort. Taysom would quarterback the strategy and Veni would be the skill player up front making plays.

     And it all started with hanging on for dear life right from the start chute. Taysom was caught off guard by Veni's ability to go from a jigging prance and straight into a dead run that morphed into this chugging sprint like no other. Once Taysom got himself pulled back into the saddle where he belonged instead of behind it where he had been left for dead, he could regather his senses. Boy, they weren't kidding. This was no ordinary kind of run.

     Taysom looked far ahead to the first jump. He had taken the advice given to him that with a horse that ran at these kinds of speeds, throw out all that he knew about regular timing and spacing. Veni would have a much earlier take off and a much later landing. And from what he could get from practice, be ready for a harder landing and a quicker lunge to get up to speed again.

     "Buddy, I'm on my rookie contract right now. Imma need you to carry me through these first few plays, aight?" Taysom talked to himself over the whipping winds. The jump was upon them. Jesus, Taysom thought just how nasty of a crash it must be if Veni just tanked it through a solid jump. Ah well, they were in this together.

     No lie, Taysom merely pointed Veni at the jump and started to lean forward just to be ready for wherever the stallion decided was a good takeoff. He was absolutely letting him set himself up. Yes, perhaps a very dangerous habit. But Veni wasn't a green cross country horse. Not his first jump.

     Taysom felt the horse spurt forward even faster for a few strides and then up they went! He was tightened his grip on his mane and breast collar, sure he was going along for the jump too! While Veni didn't jump very high, he had such momentum to his jump, he just had to pick his legs up and sail over the jump. Taysom felt the jarring landing he was warned about and then the lunge forward to get up to speed again. He dared to glance back and see where the landing was and was impressed how much further out it was. What an absolute baller!

     "This is so cool."

     Thank you @Helsinge for humoring me and giving my soul and my muse an outlet. I've only been sobbing for a rainbow horse show for too long xD It's tough finding a show that allows the rainbow ponies in, let alone to even dare use their abilities -weeps- I just want to draw fun colored ponies doing cool things. No shade on the realism ponies but y'all have 99% of the spotlight, just share for a sec xD

     Ever since the conception of Veni, I've been drooling over the idea of him sprinting down a cross country course in all his sparkle horse glory~ I had to go all out because who knows when the opportunity will come again! Good for Taysom to get out there on my behalf because he's happy just to have a job! : D

     And I definitely made sure I had fun the whole time as the rules of the show demand! Brief crying while stuck in infinite background land but that was remedied with a nap (many naps) and snacks (lots of snacks).
