   The conversation of the group shifted as Kate came back from her round. Or rather, the subject hadn’t changed yet, but Taysom gestured to Kate, “See? Look at that big smile? Have you ever seen Chris even crack a grin coming out of one of his classes? He’s as crunchy as his dad.” Which everyone got a laugh out of besides Chris who rolled his eyes. It was an overused comparison that had run its course and wasn’t funny anymore.  
    “Hey, I smile all the time! Chill vibes, my dude,” Ty vouched for himself. He was no stick in the mud!
    “Ty, you don’t count,” Taysom explained,” You’re the exception to every rule, dude.”
    Ty couldn’t help but grin and nod, flashing the peace sign, “Totes, bruh.”
    “But, ya know...well, you guys are too young to remember. Dave used to have some pretty wicked horses with some sick plays. You ever get to ride one of them? Ya know, the ones with the secret weapons installed,” Taysom referred to Zora, being on the staff longer than Dave had even been at RidgeRunner.
    She shook her head, “No, he transferred right to North. I never did work for him.”
    “Shoot. Chris? Surely, you have. Daddy ever let you play with the Ferraris?”
    Chris snorted, “Let me? Hell no. Have I?” He cracked a smirk, dipping his head down to hide it at first but he couldn’t keep a straight face, smiling anyway, “What he doesn’t know won’t kill him.”
    Kate noticed because she had taken a spot next to him, that he rubbed his leg awkwardly. She wasn’t going to say anything. It wasn’t her place and it didn’t matter. But did something have to do with one of these “fancy horses” and the injury that Chris had all those years ago? She always had wondered what had happened. She could just be overthinking it too. It wasn’t like knowing the answer would change anything.  
    “Ppfffffffbbt!” Ty scoffed, “Okay, okay, but have you seen Risky in action? She’s got some pretty dope moves too.”
    “Oh yea? Can she sling herself sideways through a jump at high speed?” Taysom leaned over, poking at Ty’s pride.
    Ty nodded with honesty, “Totally!”
    “And live to tell about it?”
    “...maybe!” Ty laughed after a moment to consider it. It was pretty awesome to see the old videos that had circulated around. But Dave wasn’t about that flash and flair anymore. So it was up to the younger generation to carry it on! Which Ty intended to do as he trotted Risky onto the course for her run!
    Ty sure had some moves, alright. More than once, the two of them should have crashed into the earth but somehow, that moose of a mare kept her feet underneath her! There wasn’t any sideways jumping on the menu today! There was one jump where it looked like maybe Ty had the balls to even ask Risky to try something like it. How dare he.
    The mare charged into the next jump, wringing her tail with fury that he would insist for her to do something so dumb! She grunted and bucked, snapping at the top pole since she couldn’t get a hold of Ty just yet. She chomped down and took it with her, fueled by rage and spite! She bucked over the crossrails underneath, dragging the pole with her, ears pinned flat to her neck. WAS THIS DUMB ENOUGH FOR HIM!?
    Ty was immediately very sorry and never asked Risky to do a Dave jump after that.
