Sooo I'm just gonna go ahead and copy and paste what I'd put in the comments on my 'Still Alive' piece =)

I submitted this to Pebeo's 2018 Mixed Media Exhibition 2018 and it made the short-list to go in the exhibition!  So June 26-29th it will be on display in the Mernier Gallery at London Bridge =) (Smile) Sooo excited! On the 26th there'll be a private viewing with drinks and canapés, very fancy.... except I'll be there, making it considerably less fancy and more socially awkward XD

There's a panel of judges for the exhibition but there is also a 'public vote'.. sooo... if you like this and you've a spare 30 seconds to go onto Pebeo's Facebook page... you could always, y'know, click through the link below, click 'vote', go to Page 9 and vote for my piece or something... ;) (Wink)

Voting's open until 15th June (but ya don't have to.. so thrilled to be in the exhibition that's already my win ^_^)

Aaaand.. if you happen to be in London and passing the London Bridge area toward the end of this month, entry is free.

About time I put a new journal up.  One is aware one has been somewhat AWOL for a while now... I'm not going in to the reasons why (life-related tedium)... However I have been busy drawing in the meanwhile and will try and share some of those efforts.  Or if you can't wait then I am much more active at art-sharing on my Facebook profile so if you're on FB do stop by to say hello! ;-)

www.facebook.com/NecroDragonAr…
For all the kind birthday messages! You guys made me smile :)

I'm a bit crap at the moment (yay depression) and fail miserably to manage much communication-wise but I do read all the messages I get and thoroughly appreciate them. I'll get back on track some day I hope.
Just, y'know, quietly sweeping that journal from a  year ago off the front page... (and thank you to the person who bought my old cintiq, btw).  Things have improved a little in that I have a PC, 13HD and a coffee table to use them on, at least.  Meh. Don't really want to talk about it.  Back on the happy pills which feels a bit like an admission of defeat but i guess I should look upon it as taking steps to look after myself.

Anyway. Yeah. Not dead.

Oh, just a note.  I've been off DA for a while and have just been looking at my PMs, which, depressingly, are pretty much composed of people asking me for freebies.  In answer:  NO.
1. Please don't ask artists for free drawings: nobody owes you a thing so you've no right to ask.  You may think there's no harm in asking, but for some of the kinder souls out there it makes them feel awkward to refuse and it's not fair to put them in that position.
2. If you have a project you are serious about then you should be equally serious about paying people for their time and effort.  U P  F R O N T.  And if I get another note telling me how the exposure would be good, the sender will be lucky if all I do is hit delete instead of explaining in graphic detail where, exactly, they can stick their 'exposure'.
3. Here's an idea: if you have concepts in your head you'd like to see on paper but don't want to part with you pennies, learn how to draw. Worked for me.

Just saying.
Aha! Finally briefly commandeered a machine I can access Deviantart on.
Soooo... I've been gone a wee while.  And will continue to be for a while yet.  I've moved flat (into one I own! WOOOOO! Never, ever want to go back to throwing away money on renting again!) but for reasons not worth explaining I have no proper computer or decent internet connection at home and can't really get on here at work.  Hence my continued silence. Not quite as I'd planned things but hey, one hopes 'normal service' will resume before too long...

Anyway. A bit crass, I know, but the first post I'm making on here in ages is me trying to sell something:

--> www.ebay.co.uk/itm/22137294602… <--

Selling my faithful Wacom Cintiq 12wX.  Currently at a bargain price.  Auction finishes tomorrow. It does feel a little bit like I'm selling a friend but it's for a good cause.

(and now I should probably get back to work!)
Wooo! I've finally posted page 100 - and a couple more - of 'Heritage'!  So happy I've managed to get that far on the comic :-) Now I just need to keep going and finish the thing.

Also I've posted some pages of 'Moonsong', a brand new werewolfy side story.

Aaand, if anyone's interested, I got a painted fox skull and a bunch of prints on Ebay :)

In other news, my carpal tunnel is - slowly - coming under control.  My workplace is very understanding and have bent over backwards to help me out (possibly because it was brought on by my job in the first place...) and I'm now on 'rehabilitation' exercises rather than outright 'treatment for the agonising pain'. This includes mirror therapy, which intrigues me.  Anyway, I'm still not drawing as much as I'd like, but things are improving. And this is good.

Viking runes help?

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 28, 2012, 11:48 AM

I need help!  Specifically, I'm working on a picture where I'd like to include the phrase 'Son of the North' translated into Old Norse then viking runes. Probably younger futhark or whatever looks coolest ;-)

So far for the translation I *think* I'm looking at "sonr úr norðrinn" but that's just me digging around the internet. As for the runes, see my muro drawing in the comment below.

Any assistance appreciated! :-)

And I know, I know. Not been round much.  My carpal tunnel and gammy elbow have reared their ugly heads the last few months and I've drastically reduced my internet time (save for bothering people on facebook). Not sure when I'll be back 'properly'.  In the meantime, here's some awesome photos from my trip to South America: www.facebook.com/media/set/?se…

away for a bit

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 23, 2012, 5:17 PM

I realise the notes are piling up again.. sorry!  I have a good excuse this time though: I am currently in the Atacama desert, Chile and will be gone for at least a week or so.

Good news is, the air's so dry my hair hasn't frizzed up at all.  So that's nice.

I've forgotten for the moment how to update my journal footer, but fyi (and because I keep getting asked), commissions and trades are currently closed until further notice.

kicking that stuff

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 4, 2012, 8:17 AM

I realise I've not been around much and have generally been terrible at keeping up with notes, comments etc etc. Sorry! I'm hoping this will improve... just not this week 'cos I'm going to the Download festival :D  (for those who don't know, it's a 3 day smorgasbord of heavy metal, not 3 days of sitting round with a laptop downloading stuff because I'd probably have to top myself if I got excited about that).

Having reached the conclusion that throwing rocks at creative block is actually very painful and may result in a concussion, I have opted for another approach.  Went to the GP and asked to switch from Mirtazipine to Citalopram.. which isn't just a case of closing my eyes and randomly picking a new type of happy pill: I've been on it before and found it to be nowhere near as detrimental to my creativity and motivation.  Don't get me wrong, Mirtazipine does work on depression but boy does it dull the mind.  Even the side effect of crazy lucid dreaming which was at least halfway fun has worn off with continued use.  I do understand that depression is also detrimental to motivation, but having that black dog at my back for longer than I care to mention I know when it's not me, it's the medication.  So, yeah, kinda excited to move on.

Also:

MCM Expo - I did this weekend before last.  Completely failed to prepare/advertise the fact but still managed to do surprisingly well :)  Met some lovely people, and generally had a great time so thank you to anyone who stopped by my stall!

Gold Challenge 2012 and stuff

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 28, 2012, 10:26 AM

Hey all,

On the offchance anyone has a spare quid or two down the back of their sofas.. (unlikely in the current climate, I know), I'm participating in the Gold Challenge 2012 where basically our team has to clock up 2012km by the end of the year, with our fund raising going to the worthy cause of Help For Heroes www.helpforheroes.org.uk .  Apparently driving would be cheating so it has to be on foot/cycling etc.

I'm always meaning to, yet never quite getting around to, doing a bit for charity so I figured this year I'd give it a go. If you do have a pound to spare my justgiving page is here ^^ www.justgiving.com/IsabelleD

If not, no worries!  I just figured I'd put this out there ;)

In other news, does anyone know any good self-help resources for people with OCD?  Things are getting a bit desperate here :-\

Offline

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 22, 2011, 6:34 AM

FYI, I have no internet because our modem is gone kaput. Waiting on a replacement and I'm not really keen on using DA at work because, funnily enough, I have a job to do here!  Could be a good excuse to finally have a crack at the Doom 3 expansion that's been gathering dust under my desk for years (I'm really not joking when I say I don't play games any more, although the Skyrim adverts are making me consider upgrading my pc...covetcovetcovet).  Anyway, if anyone desperately needs to get in touch then send a carrier pigeon. Or email.

The disappearing Drakhen... and Tumblr

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 6, 2011, 8:40 AM

Tumblr: I've succumbed. Mostly because I needed to replace my defunct Forum with something for recording site updates that was quick and easy to use & customise.  And it would be nice to have an art journal.  Any tips on how I can put some hyperlinks under the head image would be appreciated since I can't seem to work out the css.

---> drakhenliche.tumblr.com/ <---

So, the Expo last weekend was most enjoyable.  However, I had a slight mishap carrying my boxes o'stuff at the end and hurt my wrist. Which wouldn't normally be an issue except my RSI has been up to its old tricks of late.  By Wednesday I was able to go back to work but it's still not right.
As a result I've been mostly keeping off the computer (and my graphics tablet).  I'm still working on some traditional media stuff but for the time being I'll not be around online much.

Just thought I'd let ya'll know.

Oh, and the Manowar gig last night.. so awesomely loud I puked.  Ok, that was actually the food poisoning.  Next time something says 'eat within two hours of purchase' on the label I will not add another 24 to the figure.  It was still a thoroughly awesome gig though (except the set could have been longer, I thought).

London MCM Expo!

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 28, 2011, 8:35 AM

Bloody 'ell... it's that time again already!  Just got home after dropping my stuff off at my table.

Anyone else going to it this weekend?

www.londonexpo.com/comicvillag… <-- I'll be in the comic village this time rather than at a dealer table. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see a familiar face on my icon :D (and wow, looks like for once I wasn't quite the last person to send mine in XD )
I'm one row in towards the signing area with my back to the main walkway. Will stick some dragons on the back of my banner to make it easier to find me ^^

GBP25 portrait commissions *edit: closed*

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 31, 2011, 10:31 AM

*edit*
I've got 3 commissions so far... Thanks guys!  I'll temporarily close for the moment 'til I get these done since I don't want folk waiting too long on me ^^ will reopen in due course.

***********

I need money... largely because I need new back tyres and to fix a light on my car. Boo :-( Sooo, I'm open for another round of £25 portrait commissions.  You've seen my gallery so you know my strengths (dragons and snarly things), humans I'm not so good at though, alas.

Here's some previous examples:
Commission. Ayu by drakhenliche
Commission. Wolviesyxx by drakhenliche
Commission. Emprorio by drakhenliche
Commission. Dracanius by drakhenliche
Commish. Cyfan by drakhenliche

( these are all landscape oriented, but if you prefer portrait I can do that ).

It'll be computer coloured lineart and I'll email you the high res when finished.

How I work: I do sketch, you like (hopefully) or we make changes and once the pencils are agreed you pay then I carry on and ink/colour.  I can only do minor alterations once the initial drawing is finalised.  You can pay up front if you like, up to you.

Paypal, pls. Ideally in GBP (pounds sterling) or the equivalent in dollars - check the exchange rate.  To avoid any confusion, that's £25 pounds, not euros.

What I need from you: References (images and written description ideally), possible mood idea (if you leave it to me it'll probably end up mean because I'm deeply bitter and twisted under my sunny disposition...). Patience - so far when I've done these I've managed to do about a picture a week.

Note me or comment if you want one.
