Draiocht (dree-oct) - Gaelic for magic/enchantment
Ceol (kyon) - Gaelic for music, song, vigor
I'm a logophile, and that basically means "lover of words." I love languages, with all these different, beautiful, unique words and their definitions. You'd be surprised at the amount of words that don't get translated into different languages to be used. For example, "Hygge" - it's a Danish word that roughly translates to "coziness or comfort". However, the meaning is so much deeper than that. Human words and definitions can only describe our complicated feelings and situations so far. This is one of those situations.
Besides that, I've been practicing art on and off since middle school. I kept getting discouraged by how well my friends were able to draw, and how good they were getting - at a faster pace than me. Plus, I grew up poor and didn't have a lot of materials to draw with. I still remember drawing so much I'd rub my fingers raw from the wood of my pencil. Now, I have a full time job and can practice a lot more. Surprisingly, I can do digital art a lot better than sketching/coloring on physical paper. I'm still too shy to share it with the internet, though. ^^"
Since I couldn't focus on art, I did write a lot throughout my school life. Like, a lot! Ever since I was able to get my hands on a book and grasp proper grammar, my hands just took off like a rocket! I found so many free apps to write my books in. My dreams. It was so difficult trying to describe them at first, because I just wanted to draw them out so I'd never have difficulty in forgetting them. Whether it was nightmares, or dreams, or "safety places" I would create in my head, I did my best to write it all out. I brought my comfort characters to life. I gave my pokemon backstories and personalities. I didn't care about "winning it all" or "being the best". I just wanted to spend time with things/characters that made me happy.
Whoops! Sorry! I ended up writing a lot....again XD
I mostly lurk on DeviantArt, but please feel free to send me a message or comment on my page! I'm always welcome to new folks!
Thanks so much for the watch ^^
