Tonight is Halloween, it was finally the night of frights as the light of the full moon shined down it's light upon the City of Musutafu, Japan. Every civilian and hero alike were getting into the full swing of the celebration, but they were the only ones having fun on this night.
Sitting atop a forested hill is U.A. High school, the #1 ranked high school for heroics, both students and faculty were having their own celebrations as well. At the Heights Alliance Dormitories, students of every course were throwing Halloween Parties with all their friends and classmates.
In one of the dorms belonging to U.A's own Class 1-A were have a big costume party too. The theme was Monster Bash, so everyone had to dressed up like monsters and ghouls, Inside, Izuku Midoryia was dressed as a patchwork ghost, Katsuki Bakugo was a wolf-man, Shoto Tororoki was a vampire, And Ochaco Uraraka was using her zero gravity quirk to fly around on a broomstick for she, Tsuyu Asui, and Toru Hagakure were dressed as witches.
As some were hanging around the snack table enjoying some candy and sweets, provided by Rikido Sato dressed as a zombie, while Tenya Ida dressed as Frankenstein, kept a watchful eye so no one take more then their fair share. Everyone else was out on the floor, dancing to the music provided by Kyoka Jiro, dressed as a skeleton DJ.
While everyone was having fun, only one person was found sitting on the sidelines. Relaxing on the couch was American Transfer-Student and fellow classmate, Gunner McDavis, dressed as the grim reaper, kicking back while reading a book in his claws. Just then Mina Ashido, dressed as a succubus, quickly walked up to him and playfully grabbed him by the arm.
"Gunner, why are you just sitting over here? Come dance with me!" Ashido urges him to get on his feet.
"Just give me one more minute, Ashido. I'm almost done with this book" Gunner said as he turned to the last page of his book.
Ashido looked down to see what kind of book Gunner was reading. The front cover had a picture of a girl hold up what looked like a living monster mask with the title above it. Class 1-A had a few lessons learning the English language, so Ashido was trying to make out the words but the title itself looked like it was made out of creepy green ooze.
"Goo--Goose--Blimps?" Ashido guessed.
"Close, it's pounce: Goosebumps." Gunner corrected her.
"Goosebumps?" Ashido asked.
"Yep, the Goosebumps is a horror series, written by novelist: R.L. Stine." Gunner smiled. "Every Halloween season, I make a point to read my favorite story The Haunted Mask on All Hallows eve."
"I didn't know you liked the Goosebumps series too, Gunner." Midoryia replied as he and some of the others walked up to him.
"Are you guys fans of the Goosebumps as well?" Gunner asked his friends.
"Oh absolutely, back in grade school I found a copy of The Scarecrow walks at Midnight." Midoryia smiled gleamy before it turned upside down in fear. "It was so terrifying I couldn't sleep for a whole week."
"To further expanded my foreign knowledge I readied A Night in Terror Tower." Ida stated. "Even to this day the twist at the end still has me baffled.
"I had the misfortune of reading The Cuckoo Clock of Doom." Uraraka shivered nervously. "I got so freaked out, that I avoided any and all cuckoo clocks."
Just then, Denki Kaminari, who was dressed as a devil, suddenly jumped up from behind the couch giving everyone a frightful jump scare.
"You know, hearing all this goosebumps talk has given me a great idea." Kaminari proudly announced. This caught the attention of everyone in the party.
"Kaminari actually has a great idea?" Jiro asked in disbelief. "That's gotta be the scariest part of tonight."
"Did he get possessed by a spirit?" Hanta Sero asked.
"If he did, we'd best start performing an exorcism on him at once." Fumikage Tokoyami added, as he Dark Shadow was ready to pounced on Kaminari.
"Very funny, you guys." Kaminari said unamused. "Here's what I have thought of, what better way to end our Halloween Monster Bash Party then hearing a good old scary story? And our good friend Gunner, just so happens to have a story for us."
"Huh?" Gunner asked in confusion.
"What do you say, G? Care to share that book with us?" Kaminari asked him.
"Yeah, Gunner, we'd love to hear your favorite story! So please?" Ashido asked nicely, while everyone else in Class 1-A asked and begged Gunner to hear this story as well.
"Geez, I don't know you guys. This particular Goosebumps is quite a scary story....." Gunner tried to explain to everyone until he was interrupted by the sound of mocking laughter.
The laughter filled the air as everyone looked around and found the laughing was coming from none other than Bakugo, who was standing a the snack table laughing his head off.
"You losers are so pathetic!" Bakugo laughed. "How can anyone be scared of a stupid kids' book!"
"A kids' book---A kids' book!" Gunner said, feeling offended as he jumped off the couch and marched over to the ticking bombshell. "I'll have you know, Pyro-Maniac, this ain't NO kids' book!
"It's Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, you asshole!!!!" Bakugo yelling furiously.
"Whatever! As I was saying, The Goosebumps are not kids' books, they help you fall asleep, these keep you up all night!" Gunner argued with Bakugo, before pointing at his book. "And this one is among the scariest of them all!"
"Ha! Scary? That lame-ass book? Don't make me murder you." Bakugo said with a annoyed face as he grabbed a handful of candy from the table. "Great, now you idiots have ruined the party for me! I'm going back to my room."
"Come on, Kacchan, please stay." Midoriya begged his childhood friend. "It's not very often you get to hear a Goosebumps story on Halloween."
"Shut the hell up, Deku!!" Bakugo snapped at him. "I'm tired, annoyed, and I'm going to bed!"
Bakugo started storming out of the room as everyone else pleaded for him to stay, but he refused to listen. That when Gunner had an idea, if asking nicely won't work then maybe a little persuasion will.
"Well suit yourself. You probably couldn't handle it anyway." Gunner said with a smirk.
That small remark made Bakugo stop right then and there as he turned his head angrily back at Gunner.
"The hell you just say, Scale-Face?!" Bakugo asked in anger.
"Oh, I'm not saying anything." Gunner said. "I think it's best if you didn't hear this story. Wouldn't want to risk you having any unfortune 'accidents' in bed later."
That comment made half of Class 1-A burst into giggles and silent laughter, Bakugo on the other hand, his face turned completely red with angry and infuriation as steam was literally pouring out from his nostrils.
Outraged, Bakugo used his Explosion Quirk to propel himself towards Gunner and grabbed him by the collars of his costume.
"Oh really, it it that scary!?!" Bakugo asked in an angry fashion. "Alright, Scale-Face, your on! But if this lame-ass story doesn't give me so much as a shiver, I'm gonna murder you!!!"
"Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you." Gunner playfully raise both his hands in defeat, while maintaining his smirk.
Finally everyone was in a agreement: one scary story to end they're Halloween Celebration. Gunner took his spot on the couch, with book in hand, all his friends of Class 1-A gathered around him and sat down either in chairs or on the floor as they were all ready to hear the story.
"Here we go! Viewers beware, you're in for a scare!" Gunner grinned sinisterly as he began the story.

The Story begins on the night before Halloween, two young girls were found walking down the empty streets of their hometown. One of these girls is Carly Beth, a girl with short, messy light-brown hair, reddish-brown eyes, and wears casual clothing like a baby blue jacket, white hoodie, blue jeans, and brown boots. The other walking beside her was her best friend: Sabrina, a short young girl with tan skin and light green eyes. Her hair (which has a spiky tuft on her forehead) is long and brown and is kept in curly pigtails.
As the girl continued on their walk, Carly Beth couldn't help but noticing that something felt different about tonight. There was a heavy feeling in the air, a darkness...but soon her attention caught something new in front of her sight.
"Hey, it's a new store." Carly Beth said, pointing at the new shop. "Where'd that come from?"
"I don't know. But it's just in time for Halloween." Sabrina said as the two girls approached the building.
Once the girls were in front to the store, Carly Beth looked up and read the sign "Novelty Shop". When she looked down, she saw something that pique her interest. Sitting in the front windowsill were a variety of Halloween masks, from friendly animals to hideous ghouls and ugly monsters.
"Wow." Carly Beth said, staring at the masks.
"Pretty scary, huh?" Sabrina said, feeling a little creeped out.
"Yeah." Carly Beth said in awe.
"Come on, let's go." Sabrina said as she started to walk away but stopped when noticed her friend wasn't moving. "Carly Beth!"
"Huh? Oh." Carly Beth said, breaking free whatever trance is she was in.
As the two girls continued on down the street, the shop-owner, a middle-aged male, with slicked-back black hair with streaks of grey, and a thin black mustache, wearing a black suit, appeared in the window and watched the girls walked away with an unfriendly look his eyes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just across the street from the new shop, Carly Beth and Sabrina had reached the town's local pumpkin patch to where for the perfect pumpkin.
"Why'd you have to wait till the last minute to get a pumpkin?" Sabrina asked.
"Why does it have to be so creepy out here?" Carly Beth sighed. But then she let out a gasp as she stopped. "Do you hear breathing?"
"It's probably you, Carly Beth." Sabrina said.
"Thought I heard footsteps." Carly Beth said, as she looked around her surroundings. "I think someone's followed us here, Sabrina."
"You know, I think you're right." Sabrina said. "Somebody's out there. Somebody... or something."
While Carly Beth had her back turned, Sabrina quietly sneaked up from behind and playfully grabbed her on the shoulder. Carly Beth let out a frightful scream as Sabrina let out a laugh. Carly Beth got so mad, she walked up to her friend and punched her in the arm.
"That was totally non-funny." Carly Beth said.
"I'm sorry." Sabrina said, between her laughs. "Why don't you get your pumpkin so we can go home?"
"Okay." Carly Beth sighed and continued her search. As she looked around the only pumpkins she could find were old, rotten, misshapen ones. "These pumpkins are so rotten."
Carly Beth searched and searched until she was at the very center of the field where she found a nice big pumpkin setting right in front of her.
"I found a good one." Carly Beth called out, as she kneeled down to the ground.
As Carly Beth was examining her found, she noticed something was moving underneath the hay. When she went to take a closer look, all of a sudden a hand shot out and grabbed her, causing Carly Beth to scream fractally. She managed to free her hand as she jumped up, but to her horror, her perfect pumpkin reveal itself to be a pumpkin-head monster as it rose to it's feet and started chasing her. Carly Beth tried to run away, but she was blocked off by another pumpkin-head monster, as the two grabbed hold of her and started roaring in her face, causing Carly Beth to scream out even more.
"Oh, Oh, Sabrina!" Carly Beth screamed out in terror.
Hearing her friend screaming, Sabrina quickly rushed over and saw her surround by monsters. But the monsters' roars soon turned into fits of laughter as they took off they're pumpkin heads and reveal themselves as two boys. One is a tall, skinny and has light freckles on his cheeks, wearing a blue baseball cap. And the other was a tall, oversized, boy with messy auburn hair and freckles.
Two boys both Carly Beth and Sabrina knew well very well.
"Chuck? Steve?" Sabrina exclaimed.
"Carly Beth, you should've seen your face." Steve, the oversized kid, said as he continued laughing.
"That was the best one yet, Carly Beth." Chuck, the tall skinny kid, said between his laughs.
Angry and embarrassed, Carly Beth pushed the two boy out of her way and stormed away as the boys' continued laughing.
"Carly Beth, slow down." Sabrina called out as she chased after her. "Stop."
"Why? So you can laugh at me more?" Carly Beth said in angry.
"I swear I had nothing to do with that." Sabrina pleaded.
Carly Beth stopped and turned to Sabrina as she said: "Yeah, right!"
"You know I'd never hurt you." Sabrina reassures her friend.
"....I know." Carly Beth said with tears in her eyes.
"Chuck and Steve, they're sickos. You know that." Sabrina said as the girls watched the two boys running out of the pumpkin patch, still laughing their heads off.
"I can't believe they followed us all this way just to scare me like that." Carly Beth said in sadness.
"They're creeps. They have no life." Sabrina said.
"Last weekend at your home, they pretended they were prowlers." Carly Beth started to say when she noticed Sabrina was trying to hold back a giggle. "That wasn't funny."
"Mm-- sorry." Sabrina apologized.
"Last summer, they put that dead octopus on me." Carly Beth shivered at that very thought. "They're always pulling stuff like that."
"I'm sorry they scared you. I really am." Sabrina said to her friend. "It was a mean and stupid joke."
"I know you're sorry. It's just..." Carly Beth started to say as she hugged her friend. "They don't do this to anyone else but me, Sabrina. Why me?"
"Don't be mad, Carly Beth. It's just you're...so scareable, that's all." Sabrina said truthfully.
"I am not!" Carly Beth said as she pulled away. "Come on, that's not fair!"
"Carly Beth, come on." Sabrina said.
"I might be afraid sometimes, but I mean--" Carly Beth stared to say before Sabrina interrupted her.
"Everyone knows you're afraid of everything." Sabrina plainly said.
"Okay. I-- I don't like being scared!" Carly Beth stuttered. "I don't like being afraid, okay?"
"It's okay." Sabrina reassures her.
"Maybe someday, they'll know how it feels." Carly Beth boldly stated before turning around and left the pumpkin field.
"You didn't get your pumpkin." Sabrina shouted as she chased after her friend.
After witnessing everything from his window, the shop-owner watched the girls leaving the area before disappearing into the back room of his shop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometime later, Carly Beth returned home safely as she entered through the front door.
"Hey. Anybody home? It's me." Carly Beth shouted with a sigh,
"Hi."
Carly Beth jumped in fright as her mother, Haba, a brown colored woman with dark hair, a light-colored apron, and a generally friendly but pragmatic demeanor, suddenly appeared from out of nowhere.
"Oh. H-hey, are you OK? huh?" Haba asked with concern. "Did something happen to you?"
"No, nothing why?" Carly Beth asked.
"It's your eyes, you look--" Haba said, when she saw how red her daughter's eyes were.
"It's nothing." Carly Beth said as she turned away. "Don't worry about it. Okay, Mom.
"Okay. Cool, cool. Just asking." Haba said with a chuckle. "Hey, come here. I want to show you something."
Haba brought her daughter into the living room where she showed her something on the fireplace mettle.
"Check it out. Mmm?" Haba showed Carly Beth something that took the girl by surprised.
Sitting on the mettle was a bust of Carly Beth's head. Staring at them with a emotionless expression.
"Mom, it's me." Carly Beth smiled. "This face is me."
"I finished it today in art class." Haba smiled, then reacted when her daughter reached out to grab it. "Oh, it's plaster of Paris, so be careful. It's hollow."
Carly Beth gently picked the head and took a closer look at it. But seeing that emotionless look of it's face, Carly Beth started to feel a little creepy out.
"It's kind of creepy, Mom." Carly Beth said.
"What? Don't you like it?" Haba asked her.
"Oh, I like it. It's really great." Carly Beth said with a fake smile. "It's just I mean...why do you want something that looks like me?"
"I made something that looks like you, silly. Because I love you." Haba happily hug her girl. "Why else would I make it?"
As Carly Beth put the head back on the mettle, she saw the head looked up at her and smiled. Carly Beth let out a loud fearful gasp as she stepped away from it.
"Carly Beth." Haba said.
"It smiled at me." Carly Beth said in a scaried tone.
"What's up with you?" Haba asked.
"Its mouth opened and it smiled at me." Carly Beth said pointing at the head.
"Carly Beth, you're letting this Halloween stuff get to you." Haba said with concern.
"I'm sorry, it was the light! A trick of the light." Carly Beth said, before leaving.
"Oh, by the way, your duck costume is already. I put it on your bed." Haba told her daughter.
"My duck costume?" Carly Beth asked in confusion.
"Remember? You saw a duck at the mall, and you said you thought it might be fun to be a duck for Halloween." Haba happily said. "I made you one."
"Oh, yeah, duck costume." Carly Beth said, forcing another fake smile. "Great. Thanks, Mom."
"Well, go and take a look at it. It's very cute." Haba smiled before heading into the ketchen.
"Cute?" Carly Beth said in disappointment. She turned towards her head bust and told it. "Last thing I want to be on Halloween is cute. I want to be scary this time."
As Carly Beth walked out of the room, the head gave her another smile before freezing itself again.
After walking up the stairs, Carly Beth headed toward her bedroom, but she stopped right outside her door when suddenly heard what sounded like chanting coming from inside her room. Trying to stay clam, Carly Beth cautiously grabbed the doorknob and swing the door open. Suddenly she screamed when a giant duck monster jumped out, pushed her to the floor and started flapping it's wings and quacking right in her face.
"Noah, you jerk! Get off me!" Carly Beth yelled at the monster.
"Quack! Quack! Quack!" The Duck Monster continued.
"No, I mean it!" Carly Beth yelled, pushing the duck monster off of her.
The duck laughed and took off it's mask, revealing a young boy with dark cyan hair, brown eyes, and half-moon glasses. This is Noah, Carly Beth's annoying little brother.
"Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha!" Noah mocked.
"Take off that duck costume. It's my costume!" Carly Beth said angrily.

The next day, Halloween, it was lunchtime at Carly Beth's middle school, and she and Sabrina were eating their lunch outside as they discussed their plans for tonight.
"So, I'll meet at your house about 7:30?" Carly Beth started to say when suddenly....
"Happy Halloween."
Carly Beth screamed and turned to see the voice was coming from a talking toy pumpkin. Another scare prank by Chuck and Steve as the boys' laughed at her.
"Go away, Chuck." Sabrina said annoyed.
"Hey, Carly Beth, me and Steve just want to say we're sorry for what we did yesterday and give you a little peace offering." Chuck said, placing the toy pumpkin on the table.
"Ha ha. Very funny." Carly Beth sarcastically said. "Guess the whole school knows, huh?"
When Carly Beth wasn't looking, Steve secretly took something out of his pocket and put it into her lunch sandwich.
"Really, Carly Beth, we're really sorry. Really." Chuck said sincerely.
"Fine, just leave me alone from now on, okay?" Carly Beth sighed.
"All right, whatever you want." Chuck said as he threw his around his friend. "Me and Steve, we're just going to totally leave you alone. Isn't that right, Steve?"
"Right, Chuck." Steve agreed.
"Can you two losers disappear?" Sabrina said, shooing them away.
As Chuck and Steve took their leave, Carly Beth grabbed her sandwich and took a big bite. But suddenly she started gasping and choking as she spit it out.
"What's wrong, Carly Beth?" Sabrina asked her.
Carly Beth checked under her sandwich and saw crawling across the bread was a big slimly earthworm.
"Oh, it's a worm!" Carly Beth shrieked in disgust
"Gotcha!" Chuck exclaimed as he and Steve laughed at her.
Soon all other the kids in the school joined in, pointing their fingers and laughed at Carly Beth. Everywhere Carly Beth looked all the kids were laughing at her, calling her names like scaredy-cat and baby. Couldn't take this anymore, Carly Beth grabbed her bag and ran away as fast as she could.
"Carly Beth, come back!" Sabrina called out, but she was long gone.
Later when Carly Beth got home she went into her room and laid face-first on her bed as she started crying. For a long time people had made fun of her and play cruel pranks just to scare her. Carly Beth, hoped the scaring would finally die out, but no, it's just not gonna stop.
While crying, Carly Beth turned her head over to the duck costume her mom made. Seeing that cute duck on her bed, Carly Beth's sadness turned into frustration as something inside her snipped.
"Stupid thing! I hate you!" Carly Beth cried, as she took the duck costume and started ripping it into pieces.
Once the costume was destroyed, Carly Beth decided that enough was enough, it was time to get even. She walked over to her dresser, opened her money bag, and grabbed all the money she was saving.
"$30. That should be enough." Carly Beth put the money in her pocket. "It's my turn now."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After walking through town, Carly Beth arrived at the new novelty shop in hopes of getting a scary mask she can use to scare back all the people who wronged her. Taking a deep breath, Carly Beth opened the door and went inside.
"Oh, cool." Carly Beth said in awe. The shop had a large verity of Halloween costumes and masks, basically everything a person needs to make the perfect costume. "It's excellent."
So Carly Beth began her search, what she needed was a mask, a truly terrifying mask to scare anyone who had crossed her. Dispute all the dust in the shop, Carly Beth looked around but so far every mask she saw was not scary enough. Sure there were monsters and ghouls, but none of them felt right to her, so she kept on looking until....
"What are you doing here?"
Carly Beth jumped as the shop owner emerged from the back room and approached her.
"Who are you?" The Owner asked in an unfriendly tone.
"I'm-- I... I'd like to buy a mask for Halloween, please." Carly Beth said nervously.
"We're closed." The Owner said firmly.
"Um...Only a minute, please?" Carly Beth begged the Owner. "I really need a mask. I won't be long."
Just when the owner was about to refuse her again, the telephone on the front desk started ringing and he must attend to it.
"Everything I have is up on the walls. Five minutes." The Owner said as he left and answered the phone. "Yes? Have you any news? I told you not to phone me unless you have news!"
While the Owner was busy talking on the phone, Carly Beth checked out the masks hanging on the wall, she picked a werewolf mask wearing rounded glasses, she thought it looked to goofy and put it back. The next one had the appearance of a swamp monster, it looked scary, but not scary enough. Carly Beth sighed, there's gotta be at least one mask she could use. That's when something caught her eye, the door leading to the back room was left slightly opened, so maybe she could find a good one there. So while the owner was distracted, Carly Beth quietly opened the door and sneaked into the back room. Once inside, Carly Beth looked around and saw that the back room was a workshop, where the owner must use to create all the masks in the store. After walking around, Carly Beth finally found what she was looking for, sitting at the back were a collection of the most unusual masks she had ever seen. They were ugly, they were creepy, and most of all they were completely scary. Carly Beth smiled as she looked a them, but there was one on the far end that she liked the most.
It was a green mask that covered the head, the head neck, and the upper chest. It was made from a greenish flesh, lumpy with a misshapen bald head. A Heavy brow over an angry face and a snarling mouth full of large sharp teeth.
This is it, Carly Beth thought, this is the perfect mask she needed to scare everyone just like they scared her. Drawn to the mask, Carly Beth reached out to grab it, until...
"No!"
Carly Beth jumped as the green mask pulled itself away from girl. She turned around and saw the owner standing at the door with a mad look.
"I said no." The Owner said as he slammed the door and locked it.
"Please... mister, I am really sorry." Carly said fearfully.
"You shouldn't be here. You're not supposed to be here." The Owner pushed Carly Beth aside and inspected the green mask, along with the rest. "I'm sorry, young lady...but these masks...are not for sale."
"Not for sale? Why not?" Carly Beth asked curiously.
"They're too frightening." The Owner replied.
"But that's perfect, I need a really scary mask. Like that one." Carly Beth said, pointing to the green mask.
"There's a really frightening gorilla mask out front." The Owner quickly offered. "It's made with real gorilla hair, I will give it to you for nothing."
"Uh, I don't think Chuck and Steve will be scared by a gorilla mask, though." Carly Beth said
"Who?" The Owner asked
"Oh, these guys at school. All they do is torture me." Carly Beth told.
"And?" The Owner asked again.
"And...I want to get even." Carly Beth said.
"Ahh... revenge. What is your name?" The Owner asked
"C-C-C-C-C-Carly Beth." Carly Beth stuttered in fear.
"Carly Beth." The Owner said, as he examined the girl's face. "You have a nice face, Carly Beth, but...I don't think--"
"Uh, these masks--they're so real-looking." Carly Beth motioned towards the masks.
"Take the responsibility." The Owner muttered in fear.
"Chuck and Steve would just die." Carly Beth said with a chuckle.
"I can't." The Owner shook his head. "I'm sorry."
"Look..." Carly Beth quickly pulled her money out of her pocket. "Here, 30 bucks! I-Its everything I have."
"No. No!" The Owner refused as he unlocked the door and opened it. "You must leave, please. Now!"
Left with no choice, Carly Beth rushed over and snatched the green mask right off it's stand.
"No!" The Owner cried as he tried to stop her, but Carly Beth quickly avoided him and ran out the door.
"Here's your money!" Carly Beth threw the money at the Owner as she ran away.
The Owner was left horrified and dumbfounded as he watched the girl take off with the mask, while letting out a scream of despair.
Carly Beth burst out the front door and started running off with the mask in hand, but she quickly stops once she realized what she had just did.
"What am I doing?" Carly Beth asked herself. She turned around in hopes to apologize, but the Owner appeared as he slammed the front door, locked it, and put up a closed sign. He stared at the girl with a look of shame before disappearing back into his shop.
"It's going to be great." Carly Beth smiled as she walked away with the mask. "It's going to make Chuck and Steve wish they never, ever met me."
As soon as Carly Beth got home she went straight to her room and locked her door. Excited to wear her new mask, she walked over to her full sized mirror to try it out.
"Bye-bye, Carly Beth. Bye-bye." Carly Beth smiles as she donned on the green mask.
The mask was a perfect fit. After some readjustments, Carly Beth looked at her new face in the mirror and smiled. She looked liked a terrifying green monster, ready to attack anyone with it's sharp teeth.
"Wow." Carly Beth said in an evil voice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night had finally fallen and all the kids' in the neighborhood are getting ready to go out for they're annual Trick-or-Treat run. Emerging from his room, Noah in his spider costume whistled happily as he walked down the hall to his sister's room, hoping to scare her one more time before heading out. But just when he reached her door, suddenly...
"Hey, Noah! Trick or treat!"
Noah screamed as a hideous green monster in a black trench coat jumped out in front and laughed in an evil voice.
"Stay away! No!" Noah shrieked in fear and he back away as the monster appeached him sinisterly while still laughing. "Who are you?"
"Why don't you guess?" The Green Monster laughed evilly.
"Mom! Mom! Help!" Noah cried out.
The Green Monster continued laughing until it's voice changed back into a familiar one.
"Hey, stupid! Stupid, it's me...Carly Beth." Carly Beth laughed in her normal voice.
Noah took a moment to clam himself and asked: "Carly Beth?"
"Don't you recognize my clothes?" Carly Beth asked, pointing to her normal clothes under the trench coat.
"Your face... that mask..." Noah said in fear as he stare at the mask, while she still laughed at him. "Please take off that mask, Carly Beth! Please!"
"Okay, Oaky. Don't have a fit." Carly Beth said. She reached under her shirt to remove the mask, but something was off. "Hey, what is this?"
No matter how hard Carly Beth pulled, the mask wouldn't come off her face, it was like the mask itself was glued onto her skin.
"My mask, it won't come off." Carly Beth said.
"Stop kidding around, Carly Beth." Noah said.
"I-I'm not kidding around." Carly Beth said. "Really, I-- I can't get if off me."
Carly Beth gasped and grunted as she struggled to take off the mask, until finally with one mighty pull, Carly Beth managed to peel off the mask from her face. Sighing with relief, Carly Beth tossed the mask over to Noah so he could see it.
"Cool, huh?" Carly Beth asked with a smile.
"Can I try it on?" Noah asked.
"Actually, no. I'm late." Carly Beth said, as she took back the mask and headed for the stairs. "I'm supposed to be at Sabrina's already." She stops for a moment and turned back to her brother. "That was great. You were really freaked out."
"How did you change your voice like that?" Noah asked her. "That was the scariest part."
"I don't know... but I like it." Carly Beth smiled.
As soon as Carly Beth made it down stairs, she walked up to a nearby mirror and reapplied her mask. While adjusting it, Carly Beth didn't even noticed the mask fusing itself to her face.
"Wow, Carly Beth, you are scary." Carly Beth said in amazement.
Now she just needed one more thing to complete her costume. Carly Beth opened the door of a nearby broom closet and grabbed a long wooden pole. As she entered the living room, Carly Beth peaked into the kitchen and saw her mother humming happily while baking some Halloween sweets. While her mother was distracted, Carly Beth quietly sneaked over to the fireplace mettle where she took the head of her old face and placed it onto the wooden pole, that way it looked like a monster ripped off her head and placed it on the pole like a pike.
Now with her costume completed, Carly Beth hurried over to the door, but...
"Carly Beth, wait up." Haba called out. "I want to see what your duck costume looks like."
"Um, mom, I'm kind of in a hurry!" Carly Beth said. She could not risk her mom seeing her new costume. "I was supposed to be at Sabrina's by 7:30."
"Wait a sec, Sabrina can wait-" Haba said as she started to her daughter but stops when she heard the phone ringing. "Oh, that must be your dad. I hope his trip's going well. Have fun with Sabrina and be careful, okay?"
"Um, Okay. Thanks, Mom." Carly Beth repiled as she hurried out the door.
Halloween was in full wing, children and adults were wondering the streets in amazing costumes having a fun time, but no one was having more fun than Carly Beth. While making her way to Sabrina's house, Carly Beth took the joy of scaring anyone who approached her and she was loving it. No more people scaring her again, thanks to the mask, she was finally the one doing the scaring.
As Carly Beth arrived at Sabrina's house, she saw the silhouette of two familiar boys' approaching the house.
"Chuck and Steve." Carly Beth grinned and quickly hided herself behind a tree as she waited for her bullies to come closer. "Okay, Carly Beth... now."
Once the boys' were close enough, Carly Beth jumped out and roared at them in an evil roar, causing the boys' to scream out in terror.
"Who are you? Leave us alone!" One of the boy's cried out.
Sensing something wasn't right, Carly Beth ripped the masks off of them both, revealing the boys' weren't Chuck and Steve, but two random kids from the neighborhood.
"You're not Chuck and Steve!" Carly Beth said in mad. "But if you were, I'd make you really sorry!"
"Let's go. She's crazy." Boy 1 said in fear.
"Yeah. Right." Boy 2 agreed as the two took off running.
"Yeah. I'm crazy, all right! I'm crazy!" Carly Beth shouted like a maniac.
"Who's there?"
Carly Beth turned around and saw her best friend, Sabrina coming out in her cat costume.
"Don't you recognize me?" Carly Beth asked her.
"Carly Beth?" Sabrina asked.
"Hey, Sabrina. Boo!" Carly Beth laughed.
"That mask, it's excellent." Sabrina said as she stared at it. "It's really cool. So scary." Then Sabrina noticed Carly Beth head on the stick. "And that head. It looks so real. Where'd you get it?"
"Oh, it's me." Carly Beth answered. "It's who I used to be."
"Used to be?" Sabrina asked.
"Forget it." Carly Beth sighed. "Um... so where are they? Where's Chuck and Steve?"
"Oh, we'll find them." Sabrina said to her. "You really want to scare them tonight, don't you?"
"More than anything else in the world. Come on. Let's go!" Carly Beth as she threw her around her best friend and waked off into the night. "It's going to be the best Halloween ever. It's going to be great."
"Yeah, I hope we get some good stuff." Sabrina smiled.
As the night went on, Carly Beth and Sabrina were found walking down the crowed street as they hit up a few houses.
"So, where'd you buy that mask?" Sabrina asked for she couldn't stop staring at it. "Your mom didn't make it, did she?
"No." Carly Beth replied.
"Did you buy it at that weird store?" Sabrina again. "Was it a lot? Can I touch it?"
Carly Beth sighed and allowed Sabrina to touch it.. Sabrina took off a glove and pressed her hand on the cheek of the mask, but she suddenly jerk it back with a surprised look on her face.
"Ew! You're not going to believe this, but it feels like real skin." Sabrina said, causing Carly Beth to chuckle a little. "I'm serious. It's gross. What's it made of? It isn't of real skin, is it?
"Maybe." Carly Beth said.
"Carly Beth, that's gross." Sabrina said in disgust. "It feels so warm."
"Be quiet, Sabrina." Carly Beth asked her.
"Maybe you should take it off." Sabrina insisted.
"Be quiet." Carly Beth said, losing her patience.
"I think it's really disgusting." Sabrina stated.
"I said--" Carly Beth tried to say as she stopped.
"But it's too weird for words!" Sabrina shouted.
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Carly Beth yelled in an evil voice as she grabbed Sabrina by the shoulders and shook her violently while granting and growling.
"Stop it!" Sabrina screamed. "What are you doing?"
Soon Carly Beth stopped shaking her friend as she burst into laughter and said: "Gotcha! You should have seen your face. It was the best!"
"The best?" Sabrina asked.
"Did you actually think that I was going to hurt you?" Carly Beth laughed again.
"It's not that funny, Carly Beth." Sabrina said as she rubbed her hurt shoulder. "It's a little sick.
"I'm sorry." Carly Beth apologized. "I'm just saying in character. You know, getting in the mood?"
"Well, you're doing a good job." Sabrina.
"I like scaring people. Usually I'm the one that's always afraid of everything." Carly Beth proudly said.
"Well, next time you decide to go berserk like that, please warn me. Okay?" Sabrina asked her friend.
"Okay." Carly Beth laughed.
So Carly Beth and Sabrina took off for they're first house, not before Carly Beth scared a couple of more kids as she chuckled evilly. When they got to the door, Carly Beth rang the doorbell a couple times as they waited. Soon a mother and her two kid opened the door.
"Trick-or-treat." Sabrina and Carly Beth said in unison.
"Oh, now that's what I call a scary mask." The Mother said, staring at Carly Beth's mask.
"What are you supposed to be a giant hamster?" The Son asked Sabrina.
"No. Cat." Sabrina firmly said. Causing Carly Beth to chuckle evilly.
"I don't like the other one, Mom. Too scary." The Daughter said in fear.
"Oh, it's just a funny mask, hon. Don't be afraid." The Mother reassures her Daughter.
"You better watch what you say to me if you know what's good for you!" Carly Beth warned the kid in an evil voice.
The Daughter screamed and hided behind her mother as Carly Beth laughed evilly at her.
"Listen, don't frighten her like that. She's just a little girl." The Mother firmly warned her.
"Oh, well, isn't that too bad?" Carly Beth mocked her.
"Hey, cut it out!" The Mother shouted.
"And if you don't stop talking, you'll get what's coming to you, too!" Carly Beth yelled, as she took a handful of candy from the bowl and ran off laughing like a wild manic.
"You tell your sick little friend that I'm going to call the police." The Mother angrily told Sabrina before slamming the door in her face.
"She's not really like that!" Sabrina tied to explain before running after her friend. "Carly Beth, wait up!"
Carly Beth took a moment to caught her breath as Sabrina caught up to her.
"Did you see the look on that old bag's face?" Carly Beth laughed.
"Carly Beth, that old bag said she's calling the cops on you." Sabrina said.
"I'm not afraid of her." Carly Beth firmly said.
"What's happened to you?" Sabrina asked with great concern. "You're like somebody else, somebody I don't even know."
"It's not me, Sabrina. It's the mask." Carly Beth said, pointing to the mask. "The mask made me do it."
"The mask? What?" Sabrina asked in confusion.
"Forget it." Carly Beth sighed.
"Let's go back to my house. Okay?" Sabrina said.
"No. This is my night. Halloween is my night." Carly Beth said in angry. "It's the one night I get to have fun, the one night I don't have to be pitiful, scareable Carly Beth!"
"Carly Beth, no." Sabrina begged her.
"I'm sorry." Carly Beth said before running off.
"Carly Beth!" Sabrina shouted, as she watched her best friend disappeared from her sight.

Carly Beth continued on with her terrorizing rampage, she soon found herself at the entrance of the town cemetery where she heard some familiar voices. She quickly hid behind behind a tree and saw the two boys' she was hoping to find. Chuck and Steve, who were dressed up as pirates, were playing around having a sword fight just having fun. Then Chuck claimed victory as he stabbed Steve with his sword as the two boy's laughed.
"Oh, what a haul." Chuck said holding up his big bag of candy.
"Yeah, I got some great stuff." Steve said holding up his own bag. "Well, what should we do now?"
"Well, we've hit almost every house in the neighborhood. Let's go in here." Chuck motioned towards the cemetery.
"Really?" Steve asked.
"Come on. It's Halloween." Chuck said, as he walked into the cemetery and beckons Steve to follow. "Come on."
"Are you sure?" Steve asked.
"Steve, come on." Chuck beckons him once again before going heading further in. Steve sighed as he followed his friend inside.
"There they are! This is great!" Carly Beth chuckled evilly as she followed them inside.
After wondering around the graveyard for a few minutes, Carly Beth hid behind one of the tombstones and observed Chuck and Steve as they were using the graveyard as a rest stop to eat all they're collected candy, but not before having a little fun first.
♪ 16 men on a dead man's chest ♪ ♪ Yo ho-ho and away me go ♪ Chuck and Steve swinged each other around the graveyard singing before bursting into laughter.
"Treasure." Chuck exclaimed, as they headed over to their big pile of candy. "Pirates' treasure."

"This is great." Chuck exclaimed.
"Yeah. " Steve laughed.
"I hate mints." Chuck said, tossing away a beg of mints.
"Wouldn't this be easier at your house?" Steve asked, feeling a little nervous being in the graveyard. "Chuck? Chuck!"
"Shh!" Chuck shushed his friend as he looked around. "I think I heard something."
"What?" Steve asked.
"Over there." Chuck pointed to something in the distance. When Steve went to investigate, Chuck quickly took off his pirate hat and put on a skeleton mask and quietly sneaked up on Steve.
"No. I don't see anything." Steve said as he turned around, only to scream in fright as Chuck roared at him with his skeleton mask.
"Real funny." Steve said unamused.
"I have been--I have been waiting to do that all night." Chuck laughed.
"Big deal." Steve said. "You really get a kick out of everything.
"I'm sorry. It's not that big a deal. It's just a joke." Chuck said still laughing, but he stopped when he suddenly hear a twig snaping in the distances. "Hey, I think I hear something."
"Yeah, right." Steve said, not believing him.
"No. I mean it." Chuck said a he listened, feeling a bit scared now.
"W-what is it?" Steve asked nervously.
"I don't know." Chuck answered.

Once she was behind them, Carly Beth leapt out of shadows and unleashed a terrifying roar, making the two boys' scream in fright.
"Who are you?" Chuck demanded.
"Guess!" Carly Beth said in an evil voice.
"Do we know you?" Steve asked.
"Oh, yes!" Carly Beth replied
"You're Carly Beth, right?" Chuck asked.
"You really scared us." Steve sighed with relief.
"We've been looking for you." Carly Beth said as she planted the pole with head into the ground. "This is Carly Beth's head!"

"Apologize to her." Carly Beth demanded "Tell Carly Beth you're sorry."
"Apologize? For what?" Steve asked.
"FOR WHAT?!" Carly Beth screamed in angry. "For every time you scared her, for every time you made people laugh at her!."
"W-W-We were just goofing around." Chuck stuttered in fear.
"We only did it 'cause we like her." Steve said in fear.
"That's no excuse!" Carly Beth yelled at them. "And that's not how you show someone you like her!"
"Give us a break." Chuck cried as he fall to his knees.

Having fulfilled it's purpose, Carly Beth took the plaster head of her old face to a nearby tree and started digging a hole into ground. Once the hole was deep enough, Carly Beth took the head and placed it into the hole.
"Bye-bye, scaredy-cat! Bye-bye." Carly Beth laughed evilly and started burying the head, as if saying goodbye to her scaredy old life.

"I guess I got a little lost." Carly Beth answered.
"I was worried about you." Sabrina said with concern, before noticing the dirt on her friends hands. "What happened to your hands?"
"Uh, I fell in the mud." Carly Beth replied.
Sabrina noticed something else was missing.
"Where's your sculpture?" Sabrina asked.
"I got rid of it." Carly Beth happily said.
"You got rid of it?" Sabrina asked in surprised.
"Hey, don't look at me like that." Carly Beth said, crossing her arms.
"Well, did you find Chuck and Steve?" Sabrina asked the important question.
"Uh, y-y-yeah." Carly Beth said, feeling unsure.
"Did you scare them?" Sabrina asked.
"I think so." Carly Beth nodded.
"You didn't hurt them, did you?" Sabrina firmly asked.
"No, of course not." Carly Beth firmly said.
Sabrina nodded her head with reassurance and said: "Let's go home, okay?"
Sabrina took Carly Beth's hand and the two best friends' headed straight home, ready to put this night to an end.
Later at Sabrina's house, the girls' were in the kitchen as Carly Beth was washing the dirt off her hands and Sabrina was dumping out all the candy she collected on the table.
"Oh, whoa." Carly Beth said in awe at all the candy on the table.
"I know, I had to get a lot." Sabrina said as she started sorting out her candy. "I have to share with my cousin. She's got the flu and couldn't go trick-or-treating tonight.
"Got to get this mask off. It's boiling inside." Carly Beth said, reaching under her shirt to take off the green mask.
"Good idea." Sabrina happily said.
Carly Beth procced to pull the green mask off, but suddenly she let out a painful yelp. She tugged it again and cried out in pain, instead of the mask it felt like she was pulling on her own skin.
"What's the matter?" Sabrina asked when Carly Beth let out a big 'Ouch!' "Carly Beth, what is it?"
"The mask, it--it won't come off." Carly Beth said, desperately trying to get the mask off.
"Really? You can't get it off?" Sabrina asked in disbelief
"It's like it's stuck to my skin." Carly Beth said, feeling a little scared.
"Well, it's gonna sound pretty dumb if we have to call the fire department to come get you." Sabrina laughed.
"Shut up and help me!" Carly Beth cried out.
Sabrina walked up from behind, as she grabbed the face of the mask and tried to pull it straight up, but this just caused Carly Beth to gasp and yelp in great pain.
"You really are stuck, aren't you?" Sabrina said and tries again.
"Oh! Be very gentle, it really hurts." Carly Beth cried as Sabrina pulled on the mask again, but nothing worked. "Um, maybe we can cut it off like with scissors or a knife."

Sabrina, turned her around to face her as she looked under her shirt to see where she can grabbed the mask, but Sabrina gasped in fear at what she saw.
"Oh!' Sabrina said in fear.
"What's the matter?" Carly Beth asked fearfully.
"There's no bottom to this mask! There's no line between the mask and your skin! There's no place I can reach my hand in!" Sabrina said in horror as she backed away.
"That's crazy! That's just crazy!" Carly Beth cried in disbelief, as she rushed out of the kitchen to find a mirror while Sabrina followed.
When Carly Beth found a mirror in the hallway, she looked under her shirt and to her horror, Sabrina was right. There was absolutely no line to be found anywhere between her skin and the mask, it's like the mask has permanently became one with her skin.
"Oh, no, Sabrina. There's no line! There's no line here!" Carly Beth cried in terror.
"I'm going to tell my mom." Sabrina stated.
"Those eyes-- those eyes in the mirror." Carly Beth said as she looked at her eyes.
"What about them?" Sabrina asked.
"They're not my eyes, Sabrina!" Carly Beth cried, and found her normal reddish-brown eyes were now replaced, with hideous green monster eyes. "My eyes don't look like that."
"Try to calm down, Carly Beth." Sabrina said to her.
"Those aren't my eyes! Where are my eyes?" Carly Beth panicked. "Where am I?"
"You're scaring me!" Sabrina cried in fear.
"This isn't me! This isn't me in here!" Carly Beth screamed in fear as she burst out the front door and ran away.
"Carly Beth!" Sabrina cried out for her friend. "Carly Beth, come back!

"What are you supposed to be?" A Witch Girl asked.
"I'm supposed to be me, but I'm not." Carly Beth cried in fear. "I'm supposed to be me, but I'm not!"
Feeling scared, all the kids quickly ran away from the frighten Carly Beth, leaving the poor girl standing alone on the street.
"Come back. Please come back. Come back." Carly Beth pleaded, but it was no use all the kids were gone.

"It's all a bad dream, isn't it?" Carly Beth asked herself as she closed her eyes. "It's all a bad dream. I'm going to wake up."

Carly Beth ran straight across town until she arrived at her destination: The Novelty Shop. As she ran towards the store, the Owner appeared in the window and opened the front door for her.
"I was expecting you." The Owner said, as Carly Beth rushed inside.
"I can't get it off me." Carly Beth cried.
"I know." The Owner replied, as he closed the door and locked it.
"Please take it off me." Carly Beth begged him. "I want it off right now."
"I cannot do that. I cannot remove the mask." The Owner plainly said as he walked into the back room.
"What do you mean you can't?!" Carly asked furiously as she followed him to the back room. "Don't walk away from me! Answer me!"
"I cannot remove that mask." The Owner stated.
"But why not?" Carly Beth asked.
"Because it is not a mask, it is a real face!" The Owner revealed to her.
"I don't understand." Carly Beth said in great confusion. "Uh...how can they be real?"
"They weren't ugly in the beginning, they were beautiful...as beautiful as any face could be." The Owner told Carly Beth, as he started admiring the remaining masks in his collection. "But something went wrong. They changed. They became hideous...One after another, no matter what I did to stop the decay. No matter what I did, deformities set in...ugliness. Monstrosity."
"I don't believe any of this!" Carly Beth shouted.
"I called them...the unloved ones...because no one will ever love them now. No one." The Owner explained, before turning around and pointed at the scared girl. "Only you... Carly Beth. You're the only one who ever wanted them, the only one who ever loved them."
"No! No! I want it off! I want it off now!" Carly Beth screamed in angry as she struggled once again to get the green mask off. "Take it off me! I hate this face! I hate this face! I hate it! I HATE IT!!!"
The Owner quickly grabbed hold of Carly Beth, as girl desperately tried to rip the mask off her face.
"Carly Beth... I'm sorry...but this face is your face now." The Owner stated, as he turned the girl around and forced her to look at herself in the mirror.
"No. No! Aah!" Carly Beth screamed at her new face as she broke down into tears and started sobbing.
This was her new life now, forever to have the face of a monster.
As the Owner watched Carly Beth sobbing on her knees, a thought popped into his head.
"There may be one possibility." The Owner stated. That caught Carly Beth's attention as she turned towards him. "How many times have you taken off that mask?"
"Taken off? Once." Carly Beth replied.
"There still might be a chance." The Owner said.
" What?" Carly Beth said in disbelief. "W-well, tell me! We have to take it off!"
"I cannot take it off. Only you can, with a symbol of love." The Owner answered.
"What does that mean? I don't understand what that mean. And who are you anyway? And how do you know this stuff?!" Carly Beth demanded to know.
"I was the man who created these faces, Carly Beth." The Owner revealed, showing the scared girl his collection of face masks'.
"You made them?" Carly Beth asked. "But why?"
"I was like you. I did not love myself. I made these faces to hide behind them." The Owner told to Carly Beth. "To hide my thoughts, but the thoughts were inside me. That's what infected the faces, turned them into monsters. Like this one is turning now."
The Owner turned his head and revealed to Carly Beth, the left side of his cheek was turning lumpy and disfigured. Carly Beth gasped when she realized, the Owner's face wasn't his real one, he too was wearing a living face mask.
"Very soon, it will join the others. Failures on the shelf!" The Owner cried in misery. "I don't dare show you what's underneath. Or perhaps I should, so that you will appreciate who you are and what you've always had!"
"No! I want my face back! I want my face back!" Carly Beth demanded, hitting the Owner's chest with her fists "I want myself back!"
"Oh, shh! Shh! Quiet! Quiet!" The Owner quickly shushed Carly Beth and grabbed hold of her as he started fearfully at his mask collection. "You'll awaken them."
Seeing the fear in the Owners eyes, Carly Beth slowly turned around and watched as the collection of masks' opened their 'eyes' and floated right off the table one by one, and began to hover menacingly over to the frighten Carly Beth.
"What's happening? What are they doing?" Carly Beth asked in complete terror.
The Owner knew exactly what was happening, the masks' are coming to take Carly Beth for themselves.
"Run! RUN!" The Owner cried out.
Fearing for her life, Carly Beth wasted no time in running out of the back room as the masks' chased after her. Carly Beth tried to open the front door, but she remembered that the Owner locked it.
"Oh, no!" Carly Beth cried. She hurried to unlock the door as the Masks' slowly approached her from behind.
"Join us, Carly Beth. Come with us, Carly Beth." The Masks' moanfully said to her. "Stay! Stay with us. Join us, Carly Beth."
"Come on! Open up!" Carly Beth banged on the door in desperation, when she finally opened the last lock and burst out the door as she quickly ran away with the Masks' close behind.
"Come back, Carly Beth. Stay, Carly Beth. Join us. Be one of us." The Masks' moanfully pleaded. "Love us, Carly Beth. Please Join us, Carly Beth."
Carly Beth didn't stop running until she made it back to the cemetery. Once she found the spot where she buried the plaster head she quickly started digging. If she can show the masks' her real face, then maybe they will leave her alone. But she'd better hurry, for the masks' were closing in on her.
"Please, Carly Beth. Join us." The Masks' moanfully called out.
"Where are you?" Carly Beth cried, digging as fast as she could.
"Where are you? Stay!" The Masks' called out.
"Never!" Carly Beth shouted back and kept digging. She looked up and saw masks' coming for her.
"Carly Beth... please join--love us, Carly Beth." The Masks' moanfully said.
"No, I won't!" Carly Beth shouted. "Stay away! Stay away from me!"
"Love us, Carly Beth. Stay with us. Join us, Carly Beth." The Masks' moanfully said, as they quickly surrounded the girl and continued their plead. "You're one of us. Don't go, Carly Beth. Please join us. Don't go."
Dispute being scared out of her mind, Carly Beth kept on digging until she finally found the plaster head of her real face. She quickly took pulled out the head out of the ground and frantically start showing the masks' the real her.
"This is Carly Beth! I am Carly Beth!" Carly Beth cried in fear, "This is me! Go away! Get away!"
Seeing her real face, all the masks' ceased their moaning and quickly vanished from the graveyard, leaving the girl standing all alone. Whatever happened must have worked as Carly Beth let out a huge sigh of relief, suddenly she noticed something, she felt around the face of the green mask and it felt loose. She quickly reached under her shirt and with one mighty pull, Carly Beth peeled the green face off, revealing her true face. She looked down and saw that the green face had turned back into a mask.
"It's just a mask. It's just a mask again." Carly Beth smiled. When she set aside the mask, she picked up the plaster head of her face, she finally understood what the Owner was trying to tell her. "A symbol of love. That's what he meant. A symbol of love."
The plaster head represented a mother's love for her child and it was that love that freed Carly Beth from the curse of the Haunted Mask. With a smile on her real face, Carly Beth took the head and the mask as she ran out of the cemetery and headed for home.

As Carly Beth walked in through the front door, she took a moment catch her breath as she sighed to finally be back home. Once she threw the green mask into the trash can, Carly Beth went into the living room and gently place the plaster head back onto the fireplace mettle. As Carly Beth stood back, she saw her brother, Noah walking by with a bowl of ice cream.
"Hi, Noah." Carly Beth greeted her brother.
When Noah saw his sister, he face turned into fear as he dropped his bowl.
"Carly Beth, please take that mask off!" Noah cried in fear. "Please, Carly Beth! Please take that mask off!"
Feeling terrified, Carly Beth hurried over to a mirror and saw nothing but her face. That when she realized she wasn't wearing the mask anymore and she fell for another of her brother's stupid scare pranks.
"I gotcha, I gotcha, I gotcha!" Noah mocked as he laughed.
"Mom!" Carly Beth cried out.
Hearing her daughter's voice, Haba rushed out of the kitchen and walked up to Carly Beth.
"There you are. Do you realize what time it is?" Haba firmly asked, when sudden Carly Beth went up and hugged her as she started to cry.
"I love you, Mom. I really do." Carly Beth cried.
"What is it? What happened?" Haba asked with worry.
"I'm sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to scare you." Carly Beth said calmly. "I've had a long, weird night, that's all. But everything's okay, now."
"Well, why didn't you wear your duck costume? And why weren't you with Sabrina?" Haba questioned her daughter. "Sabrina called twice looking for you."
"Well, let's just say I've learned a lot about myself tonight, Mom." Carly Beth said to her mother.
Haba smiled as she and Carly Beth hugged each other of a loving embrace. They then let go when they heard Noah laughed, Carly Beth turned around and saw his shadow in the hallway holding something in his hands. Carly Beth's eyes shrank with fear when she realized what her brother was holding.
"Uh, Noah, don't put on that mask." Carly Beth warned her brother.
"Don't worry. I won't." Noah's voice said, along with a squish sound of something being put on.
Feeling frighted and concerned, both Carly Beth and Haba carefully walked over to the hallway, when Noah jumped out in front of them wearing the Haunted Mask.
"Trick-or-treat!" Noah laughed in an evil voice.

"Well, Kaminari, was that the perfect ending to our Halloween Party?" Gunner asked, but Kaminari didn't answered. "Kaminari?"
Gunner and everyone else looked over and found Kaminari and Mineta clanging together, frozen in fear as their faces' turned white and their white hairs' sticking out.
"Oh dear, they got so scared, it looks like they passed out." Yaoyorozu said, examining her classmates.
"Well, can't leave them like this, does anyone know how to wake them up?" Uraraka asked with concern.
"Don't worry, you guys, I've got just the cure." Gunner grinned, as he pulled the Haunted Mask from his costume, put it on his face, and roared at Kaminari and Mineta. "OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!!!!"
"AHHHH! IT'S THE HUANTED MASK!!!!" Kaminari and Mineta screamed in terror as they quickly ran out of the room.
The two scared heroes ran all the way to their rooms, where the locked and double locked their doors and hided themselves under their bedsheets, trembling in fear.
Gunner laughed as he peeled the Haunted Mask off his face and said: "Oh, that never gets old! I think that's enough screams for one night. Happy Halloween, everyone!"
"Happy Halloween!" Class 1-A cheered.
