Haunted Fairy castle cake

This was for a long standing customer.

The brief was "A haunted fairy castle - no figures"

That ws tricky, cos I kept imaging all sorts of characters on it. Plus, I had absolutely no time to do it, so hit the books and found inspiration in a Debbie Brown book (either magical or enchanted cakes, can't remember which one! but took it from there and added bats, pumpkins etc, but changed the method cos hers just put icing blocks onto a buttercreamed cake and I wanted this to be more stable, so I iced it first and put very thin blocks of icing round the side)

I wanted to make sure it didn't look plain and boring or overly themed, so this was the result.

4" and 8" sponge cakes.

All modelling done with sugarpaste

Nice cake!
Are the cakes commissions or do you eat it all?

Thank you!

I don't eat cake anymore! Have got a cake shop, so they are all commissions or new designs for Bridal Fayres

This is really cute, I love the little pumpkins on the side....I know you use sugarpaste, but, In my mind those pumpkins are made of marzipan. I love marzipan!

I taught marzipan modelling last week, so I know exactly what you mean! :D Thank you!
